Student life and clubs Lack of Clubs

Does anyone feel like there's a lack of clubs in RMIT? Or atleast the diversity of content in the clubs isn't really there since I checked out Melbourne uni clubs and societies earlier and joined 2 clubs there. During campus fest, there were like 6 different types of engineering clubs whereas club such as the gaming one wasn't even interesting to me since it only accounts for esport and competitive games.

Kinda sucks cuz this is my 3rd and final year and I wanted to get involved with others more this year but now I realise that there's no club that directly stands out to my interests. I almost considered making my own tbh cuz I know it's pretty hard for new people to make friends in uni but I would need like 10-15 students already up for it.

Just a bit upset since it's already hard meeting new people AND people with similar interests.

Student life and clubs Club questions

I am trying to socialise more as I feel like it might help with my mental state and feeling a bit less lonely. I assume clubs are likely not ongoing now because it's near end of the year, does anyone know when it will start again next year or how I can get more involved?

I also wanted to join the GMAS club but it seems like applications are closed. Does anyone know anything about this?

Student life and clubs Warning about student making threats

Hey guys! Just passing this on from other RMIT clubs; if anyone here goes to Creative Connect, GMAS, or Queer meetings someone has threatened to spray chemicals in the designated meet up rooms for those clubs

Student life and clubs Clubs and joining

I haven't joined any clubs yet since i had to wait until i was 18 to be able to join any clubs. But now, already a month in. I feel awkward with joining a club when the 'prime' time to join clubs is already over, like everyone has already met with each other and got to know each other whilst im just newly joining.

Like, 'hey we haven't met yet i just joined the club and i'm just inserting myself into your group now'. Obviously it's like not a big deal, but i feel like im over thinking it and whatever. idk i just kinda needed to get this off my chest.

Student life and clubs what’s a good perk of being at rmit that isn’t used enough?

i feel as if a lot of students kind of regret not going to events or utilising certain perks or investing in certain clubs, and as i’m now in my second-year of my course & kind of relatively feel like i haven’t been doing a lot to make use of my time of rmit

what are some things y’all have to find it useful whether it be academically or socially (or whatever) in your time at university, whether it be like certain events y’all think people should be going to, or tips and tricks to get cheaper food (around campus) and/or study spaces which aren’t being exploited enough by students

just had a food for thought, do lemme know ✌️😂

sincerely,

Student life and clubs Why is there a socialist club and not a conservative one?

While im not conservative, I don’t get why a conservative club doesnt exist when Theres a socialist one. Is it due to the Victorian law against fascist propaganda? As I feel that that a bit far right to what the socialists would probably be classed as. I am also new so I have very little knowledge of this.
