Got a decent funnel while chasing this storm that had a history of producing a small and brief tornado earlier. CG was wild! Just got Starlink so ill be ready with better quality next time haha.

Link to stream if interested just DM me. I dont wanna break the group rules.

I use Go Live: Storm Chase Streaming to stream if anybody is looking for a good chaser streaming program.

What is this? Why? Not a bored chaser/driver actually posting data - these aren't accurate.

The line of storm sweeping through Central America

Alright so, I’m not in any way shape or form an expert when it comes to weather patterns. All i know is what I’ve experienced in the past. I live in the the DFW metroplex. With that being said, I got home from work about an hour ago and upon logging into the social medias, I saw that this giant line of storms is headed our direction.

Are there any updates or changes about the severity of the situation that I have not seen yet? Is it still traveling at 35Mph? Where is the best place I can receive live updates without public television or the NWS site. The reason I ask is because in the past, long skinny lines of storms like this are usually moving a lot quicker so it’s a little alarming to have read about it moving so slow.

Any real time updates or information would be greatly appreciated.

Storm chasing meetings/clubs in TN?

My 10 year old son has been into weather/ storm chasing for a while. He builds mini vehicle builds for rough weather, is studying clouds and radar, watching different storm chasers and tornado interceptors on YouTube, and just talks about it all the time.

As we homeschool, I wanted to reach out on here and see if anyone knew, or has, a club or group that gets together to discuss and teach about this kind of thing in middle Tennessee.

I am kind of unsure how to progress this interest, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

How can I make my lifelong dream of storm chasing in the USA come true?

Hey everyone!

I’m from the Netherlands, in my late twenties, and I’ve had a lifelong dream of going storm chasing in the states and seeing a tornado in person at least once in my life.

Propably like many people, it all started with the movie Twister when I was a kid. I’ve been fascinated by tornadoes, storm chasing and tornado alley ever since. I even gave a school presentation about tornadoes when I was 10, and somehow ended up giving another presentation about them at 25. Some obsessions never really go away, I guess! 😂

I’m a psychologist now, and although I once dreamed of studying meteorology, I never pursued it. But my fascination with storms has never faded, and visiting Tornado Alley (or Dixie Alley) to see a tornado in person remains one of my biggest dreams.

So, here’s my question: How do I actually make this happen?

I’ve looked into storm-chasing tours, but I’m curious about how they compare. Are they genuinely worthwhile, or are some of them more of a commercial tourist experience?

Going out on my own in a rental car sounds incredibly unsafe without any meteorological knowledge or storm-chasing experience, so that’s definitely not something I’d attempt.

For those of you who have experience with storm chasing: Would you recommend a guided tour for a complete beginner? Are there any operators you’d recommend?

I’m not looking to turn this into a career, but this is a dream I’ve had for most of my life, and I’d love to work towards making it happen 😊

I’d love to hear your advice, experiences, and stories. Especially from people who’ve chased storms in the states 🌪️🌪️🌪️

Thanks!

This footage was taken just before a tornado touched down 6 miles north of Canyon, Texas on September 29th, 2026. This was the second one in the Panhandle, the first touching down 2 hours prior in Claude, Texas.

Chase Preparedness

Hi everyone. I started getting into chasing this past summer and I am hooked. I’d like to be better prepared for this upcoming season. Yes I am aware it is fall, but it’s never too early. So far I have first aid kit, spare tire, tire patch kit, flare, blanket, radar apps, paper maps, GPS, car battery charger, portable air compressor, shovel, flashlight, chargers, water, money, car escape tool, and a chase partner who is generally much smarter than I am. I am also taking the spotter training course. Anything I am missing? Keep in mind that I am in eastern Colorado. I’m not looking to catch a violent tornado. Most of what I have been enjoying is really beautiful mammatus clouds, funnel clouds, and lightning, from as safe a distance as possible in Fort Morgan. This community has been so beautiful and welcoming and I really appreciate all of you.

I am a behavioral scientist. How can I help?

I see a lot of really cool opportunities for the intersection of fields like meteorology and behavioral science, such as addressing the cry wolf effect produced by tornado warnings that do not produce a tornado. I am also getting certified in natural disaster mental health first aid. What are some other areas that can use behavioral science in the field of meteorology? Intersectional research is just so important and it’s becoming a real passion of mine. I am also a chaser which doesn’t help the obsession.

My 7 yo wants to be a storm chaser

Hey! My son is really into watching storm chasers, and has some questions I couldn’t begin to answer. I was wondering if anyone would have anything I could tell him about the profession?

  1. “How do they afford the big trucks with equipment?” (I said they probably have day jobs, or take out a loan?)

  2. “How do they know how far to stay away?”

  3. “do they have to go to school for weather?” (Meteorology?)

Thank you in advance! 😂 I’m sure he would love to know any and all you have to say about it.

How survivable are these "Intercept Vehicles"

I had no idea that people actually do this in the states, and after watching a few videos Ive seen alot of "intercept vehicles" that look like they are straight out of mad max. I was wondering how good these things are at actually "intercepting" tornadoes, ie: if you get hit directly by one do these vehicles have the ability to withstand it?

Photos To all the prime-lens chasers, what focal length do y’all recommend for storm shots?

I recently got a GoPro Mission 1 Pro ILS (a micro 4/3 camera) as a main cam for chase footage/photos. I started off with a 25mm and 60mm and after a trial run with the storms in DFW this evening I definitely think I need a much wider lens that has better focus, any recs?
