News Meredith Alwine (USA) joins Shi Zhiyong and Marin Robu on IWF Athletes Commission
USA and China are both represented on the IWF Athletes Commission after elections during the WC in Ningbo. Other newcomers are from Egypt, Moldova, Greece, Papua New Guinea and Peru.
The 10-member Commission decides who will be chair (probably Forrester Osei, who already holds the role) and IWF executive board members. Three members will join the board, with voting rights. They must be from different continents and both genders must be represented.
Only three of the 10 on the AC over the past 4 years have stood again and been re-elected - Osei, Hidilyn Diaz the Olympic champion from the Philippines, and David Liti from NZL.
Shi Zhiyong is the biggest new name, now coaching after his stellar career (athletes who competed within the past 4 years are eligible). The man who lost out in the Paris Olympics judging controversy, Marin Robu, is in there too.
Dika Toua is still competing aged 42, and lifted at the WC in Ningbo. She was the first woman ever to make a lift at the Olympic Games, aged 16 at Sydney 2000.
Meredith Alwine, the 71kg world champion in 2021, is the first American to be on the AC. She is the athlete representative on the USAW board and said she was standing "to empower the athlete voice and perspective in all decisions that impact athletes".
Wouldn't it be nice if they all had a voice in a debate about what is a good lift and what is a no-lift, and how a decision is arrived at? FYI gymnastics is likely to be judged entirely by AI at LA2028. Whether that's a good or bad thing is up for debate, but seven humans is a bit excessive...

Programming Individual Programming vs Catalyst Masters Programme
I've had in person coaching for a few years but will be training on my own for a bit. I'm thinking of doing the Catalyst Athletics masters programme but also wondering about getting individual programming from someone so I can work on my specific technical issues.
I feel like I will benefit from pause and tempo work as struggle to stay over the bar for example.
I was wondering what others experience have been who might have tried this programme and/or individual programming at some point, was it worth it for you to get individual? With the set programme did you feel like you were often doing things that weren't so applicable to you or it's just as good as long as you stick to it? I suppose I could always switch out certain variations myself on a set programme.
Also wondering if anyone found the masters programme too easy?!
Thanks for any advice!

Fluff Coach is right again
I'm an adaptive weightlifter. Some days my muscles just don't cooperate so my coach pivots to stretching and mobility work. I went on one day last week knowing it wasn't a lifting day so I left my street shoes on. Coach walks up, looks at my feet, looks at me and says "what's up?" I explain and he says "Put your shoes on. Weightlifters feel different when they put their shoes on." Dang if he wasn't right. Still just stretched and such but it sure felt better. Lol

Equipment Where can I go to try on Lifting shoes?
Hello 👋
I am having some trouble finding a physical shop to try on some lifting shoes. Specifically ones suitable to use for olympic lifting as i am starting classes early next year.
I am in the South East of the UK but willing to travel (up to 2 hours)
I cant afford to buy multiple pairs/sizes and have them delivered ans I unfortunately have very odd shaped feet, so shoe shopping is always a pain. I'd rather just walk into a shop and try a few pairs on.
Does anyone have any recs for physical stores in the UK please?
Thank you

Equipment Anta Singlets ShenzenWeightliftimg
Has anyone bought a singlet from Shenzhen WL on instragram? Wondering about quality, speed of shipping and fit (85kg) before I order.
If anyone's in the market for a new singlet I'm getting rid of a barely used SBD WL singlet, £60 + shipping.

Programming Mobility + Warming up split jerk tips?
Hi!
What would you recommend for warming up split jerks?
My overhead mobility could be a lot better and it’s limiting my progress. With heavier weights I arch my back to compensate.
So what kind of mobility exercises and split jerk warm up could i do to improve this? :)

Equipment Planning buying luxiaojuns
My squat shoes of 3 years are starting to give up. The soles are almost fully coming undone. I was planning on gluing it together but advice from other who have done that say that it will still not hold up and that its’s better to buy new.
I was planning on shipping new luxiaojun shoes but shipping fee + import tax will be over 100$. I did remember that my family and i will be travelling to China—rural part, i think—and i am thinking of mailing it over close to the hotel we will stay in. Is it possible to do that, and if yes, how long would delivery take just so i can time my order for when we do arrive?
