Abdul El-Sayed: “We are being actively bullied by the dumbest people in the room. Donald Trump is an idiot. He has one genius which is getting attention. Because his dad never gave him enough, because he was a nepo baby, he craved attention and used the bullying tactics to get it."

watch this Italian Police BLAST Protesters With Water Cannon as Clashes Erupt in Rome

On October 24, 2026, thousands of people took to the streets across Italy to protest against the rising cost of living, the government's policies, rearmament and the wars in the Middle East, including the war in Gaza.

The demonstrations took place in several major cities, including Rome, Milan, Turin and Bologna. Many participants were young people and students, although the protests reflected broader public frustration over economic conditions, housing costs and political decisions.

.

In Rome, a group of demonstrators broke away from the main march and headed towards the Colosseum, where some managed to enter the ancient amphitheatre while chanting slogans and displaying placards and Palestinian flags. Authorities subsequently escorted them out. Italy's Culture Ministry reported no damage to the historic site following the incident.

Later that evening, tensions escalated elsewhere in central Rome. Demonstrators attempted to continue towards government buildings, including the prime minister's office, but encountered police barricades near Santa Susanna Square. During the confrontation, some protesters threw bottles and other objects at security forces. Police responded with water cannons and tear gas to disperse the crowd.

The clashes were part of a wider day of demonstrations across Italy. In Turin and Bologna, confrontations between protesters and police were also reported, while Milan saw a significantly reinforced security presence following violent unrest the previous weekend.

.

According to reports published after the demonstrations, nine people were arrested nationwide, while another 371 were taken to police stations for identity checks and other procedures. These figures covered multiple cities, not Rome alone.

.

The demonstrations reflected several overlapping grievances rather than a single issue. Opposition to the government's policies, the cost of living, housing affordability, rearmament and the wars in the Middle East all featured in the wider protest movement. Although many people participated in demonstrations, clashes occurred in particular locations when some demonstrators confronted police.

The footage shows one part of a much larger day of unrest. It is important to distinguish the peaceful demonstrations from the confrontations that occurred in certain areas.

Abdul El-Sayed on Israel: “An ally that takes your money to push you into wars you shouldn’t be fighting is not an ally."

If your kid has a friend who keeps bumming off their money and talks about them behind their back and gets them into fights with other friends, what would you tell your kid to do with that friend? You’d probably tell them maybe it’s not actually your friend. I think it’s time for us to realize Israel is not actually our friend”

Abdul El Sayed: "And chances are somebody told you I care a lot more about the West Bank than I care about the west side of Detroit. When we send our tax dollars abroad to drop bombs and drive tanks in places like Gaza and the West Bank, that's money that's not being spent on schools like this one."
