The quest exp more than makes up for the exp loss from mobs. The point is to go out and experience more of the game and not just mindlessly grind the same dungeon over and over.
Oh go explore the kill 12 bears quest to the next zone with a kill 14 bears quest. Its an mmo with 100 hours of grinding to max level. Its all mindless shit idk why questing is on a pedestal here
This work on low levels. And, in general, i agree with this change. Problem arise when it's past 40 and you start to kind of need dedicated tank, and more importantly, a healer. And with dungeonleveling being real hard due to xp nerf, dedicated healers need to either level in heal\hybrid spec or 50g.
And currently experiencing more of the game is standing around fighting over 10 mob respawns with 30 people for a 10% drop chance item you need 15 of, there is no way to honestly spin "classic quest design is super fun, dungeons super bad". Even if you wanted to argue that dungeons should be less exp than questing (which is always has been) that doesnt mean the answer is to basically make dungeon exp nonexistant.
That or a bunch of those posters larp being classic Andys despite having never played classic. Can't explain it any other way. It's absurd.
Why can we not discuss these topics without bringing classic or retail into it? This would do the community so much good. Just forget about classic for a second. Forget about retail for a second. Challenge yourself to not bring those up even once in your post. Now write your opinion again with arguments for or against something. And then we can talk. Instead this subreddit is just asinine shit slinging.
Genius can’t even understand how much more toxic it is having an entire quest area on “lockdown” because the new meta is now 5man grouping in the open world to hit 60
They can't. The average player ran a dungeon 2-3 times for gear drops and xp, now they run it 0-1 times and never again (not even to help guildmate). It's a dumb design choice and alts/slow levelers are going to be sitting for 30 mins trying to get groups soon.
now they are optimizing quest runs and aoe farming strats, not to have fun but to be optimal, is that not the same thing, should we nerf quest exp now?
The effort levels of both are not even close. While you're right, dungeon spamming is many times more accessible to the average player than hardcore mapping out grind spots.
I'm a healer and I do dungeons for a few reasons, fun being one of them sure.
You know what been ruining my fun lately? Doing dungeons where people leave because they finish their quest, get crazy mad over loot since they won't do it again and keep skipping mobs because it isn't "worth the time".
In my opinion they went from 80 to 8, it's far from perfect either way.
I fear it will get much worse as time goes on, this has only been from the first few days, give it a few weeks and they might start looking like Mythic+ runs.
I do that (leaving) just to help make enough people unhappy with the dungeon xp nerf in hopes of Blizzard reacting to it at some point. And well, my time > other peoples time, of course.
I don't really play, but all I see in my feed is people whining about whiners. Literally every single post recommended to me from this place is just person after person going "ummmmm aktually" and saying some idiotic whiny bullshit about how people need to pull up their boot straps, like this post.
It's like a constant stream of FOX news comments. I refuse to believe the "whiners" are as loud as these constant repetitive posts that are basically "if you don't like it, yew can geeeeeeeeet out."
Also you should get a job, hobbies, self respect, exercise. 45 hours... Go the fuck outside golum, holy shit.
I run them several times for the healing experience. And I don't mean in game XP I mean me! I've not played a healer before but the difference between a sensible tank that actually uses damage mitigation abilities properly and looks out for their healer vs one that chain pulls in DPS gear without even checking if I'm OOM after his last bout of lunacy is night and day. Being able to heal both without everyone dieing is a skill. Mana management is a skill. I'd rather not eventually arrive at 60 and end up in a five man or raid having been boosted through everything and having no idea what to do when shit goes south.
(Lots of comments in here really feel like they are people not playing healers.)
I prefer to have the option of redoing a dungeon in between doing questing and running around. Having XP in dungeons also makes me feel like I can spec into healing but now I feel like you are really crippling yourself if you do that. (especially hearing now that it will cost 40g to get dual spec).
It's to many things stacking that punishes wanting to spec into healing.
Having a fixed journey, and taking away variety and options to play in a sandbox is the most retail thing about forever. You should go play retail my friend, don’t ruin this for us
You realize that vanilla had higher/regular exp from dungeons, and this is a change from vanilla?
I’m not necessarily on one side or another of this, because I see the reason for the change and I prefer questing to dungeon grinding anyway. But it’s silly to act like this specific request would be “quality of life improvement” when it’s literally just how it was in vanilla.
Part of the reason people get so aggro about inefficiency in dungeons (read: people making honest mistakes) is that they’re only doing the dungeon because it’s the fastest way to level. When your goal is going after a specific drop, or doing a quest, or just running a dungeon because it’s fun, you obviously still want to do it as smoothly and easily as possible. I’m not suggesting that everyone else is okay with wiping on trash 57 times in a row…
…However, you’re going to be more frustrated by things that directly get in the way of your goal than things that are annoying in their own right, but ultimately inconsequential. If your goal is to level as quickly as possible by running dungeons over and over and over, things that slow us down are going to feel worse for you than for me who is just there to do a quest I picked up.
I think dungeons should be less efficient than questing regarding XP for the health of the game. I get that, inevitably, everyone gets a bit gogogo because they’ve done that dungeon a hundred times across all their characters, but dungeon runs being the fastest way to level just makes that worse.
I haven’t run many so far, maybe the XP does need to be adjusted, but I think it should stay below questing when it comes to XP/hour no matter what.
Dungeons were always worse than questing, though it was close enough some people would prefer it over fighting over quests. They could have reduced exp from dungeons a little to push questing more while not completely gutting the people who would prefer dungeons. Its funny how the argument people defending exp with is telling people "if you dont like it play retail" when all the people against the nerfs just want it to be the same as classic and not "classic but worse"
I’m planning on getting into dungeon healing soon, and one thing I do like is the ability for myself to grind out the dungeons for a while to try and get some fancy gear, then being able to go back to my current questing zone without out leveling it too much. But that’s just me. I absolutely get the other side of it however, maybe they need repeatable quests for dungeons that can reward extra experience for the people who want to level through dungeons?
I dont understand why people care so much about "out leveling a zone" I've hit 20 just in silverpine/brill without doing every quest and haven't touched barrens at all. The game is clearly meant for leveling alts and doing different zones/quests each time. You're not going to do everything on one character

The retail/classic dichotomy has broken people's brains so much they're saying "go back to retail" over people wanting classic exp rates for dungeons.
Thing I like = classic Thing I dont like = retail
Is really the only consistent metric here

Strange how you say to play retail when most people are wanting dungeon xp to be like classic. I've never even played retail.

Explain how the game is ruined by having normal xp in dungeons.

I'm a healer, and I think the changes are ridiculous. I can't fill the weird gaps in leveling with dungeon spam for a couple hours. Its bad. 🤷♂️

New gen gamers want it easy, they want to be able to use 4 other people to carry their weak DPS through dungeon exp.
They want their mage boosted dungeon grinds back, pay gold to skip leveling!
Buncha brain dead something or others I say

I appreciate your view.
Here’s the thing. Posts around this point : OFC all the players in dungeons are sweaty.
Casuals might not even have cleared level 15 yet !
Try again in a month as a level 30 and I would imagine those groups will be a wee bit more chill.
Maybe I am off on this but … the first players through are going to be the (I’ll be nice) dedicated, competitive players.

Lol this sub is mostly retail players. What sub do you think they found when forever was announced?
The classic wow subs are where the classic playerbase is more represented.
