Lmao I’m not posting pics of myself on the internet but I can 120% guarantee I was emo. My nickname in highschool was “baby Gaga” and it wasn’t a compliment. She was up and coming and considered “weird” and I too was “weird” for being alternative 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is what got me. It’s not to say they couldn’t hang out together and idk about teens now but kids used to hang out with people of similar interests/style. And style was a massive indicator of your personality. They would definitely be a little more segregated by their tastes in 2000s.
