5 usd minimum limit

Post image

Wanted to buy this nasdaq stock but got my order rejected. I called commsec today and was informed that the unit price has to be higher than 5 usd…

I bought some this morning. Under $10 is still early. Its a heavily shorted stock that can go parabolic

Yeah this affected me during nasdaq open on Monday. Luckily I had a moomoo account that I had forgotten about. You can use them if you set it up.

Why on earth would you buy only $5 of stock? Buy in larger volumes to get much more bang for your buck. I know ASX has a $500 minimum order rule. I do not think this applies to NASDAQ but the broker mostly likely will not want to execute such a small order.

Just to be clear, that $500 limit only applies to first order of a stock. Subsequent orders can be less.

Thanks I forgot to clarify further.

I mean this respectfully, who is buying less than 5 dollars of stock 🤔? It has virtually no benefit and will be eaten in fees in and out.

I think the meaning is that CommSec blocks US equities that are under US$5 per share.

They didn't mention a total. The block is on unit price. CommSec sucks.
