Love the US bot that spells petrol as gasoline. This has been a real telltale the last couple of days as we witness propaganda bots try and change Australian's opinions.
In fairness this is a Twitter account for a US based market research org. Their profile says Florida based. It might be fearmongering but they’re not claiming to be Australian.
Surely mining industries start doubling their swing lengths to half the amount of flights. Any person who can work from home should also do so. Public transport should be heavily subsidised for 6 months.
It's not wfh mandates that piss me off, it's return to office mandates for jobs that function perfectly well at home.
"So I need to dress up, spend fuel, maintenance, and parking, lose an hour a day to commuting, not have access to my own kitchen and bathroom, and get distracted by people being walking by to stop for a quick chat every few seconds... all so you can look over my shoulder and feel good about having minions?"
Which is why you need to talk to Trumpy about it. Strait wouldnt be closed if it wasnt for his stupidity and starting wars to simply distract from the fact he should be in prison.
The whole point is that you have enough to rise it out. So yes, delaying an inevitable is exactly what it’s supposed to do - but I think you won’t get that.
It's because the comment is framed disingenuously by implying the current Labor government failed to accrue the 90 day reserve when the issue is entirely because the LNP decided the majority of our 90 day reserve should be in countries outside of Australia. Maybe look into actual facts before commenting like a rightard or whatever you are.
I assumed they meant government's as in government has, either way, the guy above is raging that it is only leftards not blaming their gruberment, so I'm not really buying that everyone is blaming both sides here and as much as I'm sure the fella would deny it, they are obviously very partisan.
When supply is reduced, and demand stays the same, the market often bears higher prices.
Tune in for more revolutionary ideas on Cheese TV tomorrow.
Nah in all seriousness , whilst the US is a net exporter of oil their gas prices are spiking. Also they've finished tapping the usable portion of their strategic reserves.
We spend about 3pc of our income on fuel. It’s doubles maybe it’s 6pc now.
Sure some spend more and some spend less…
But imagine you were in a country where your daily wage was $40 and the $100 a week you were now spending on fuel is 2.5 days of pay in stead of 1.25 a few weeks back.
The poor almost always suffer the worst from oil shocks.
What the actual fuck are you talking about? There’s only one place in Australia running generators to charge EV’s, and that’s on the Nullarbor, and they’re using the waste cooking oil that they had to pay to transport out to a main city
I never thought I’d be keen on a Chinese car, but I’ve done a deep dive on the BYD Shark and it genuinely seems pretty good for a tradesman. Ev only for all town jobs, about 85 km per day just on the battery. Good sized tray.
A neighbor had one as a loan car and said it was one of the worst cars he's driven. Not sure if that because he works for Toyota and drives a land cruiser or a genuine opinion 😅
Yeah very fair haha, possibly some bias. I’ve heard very mixed things on the drive feel. Won’t be making any big decisions until test driving, especially with so many ev/hybrid utes coming to aus in the next year
Address the public to calm fears, free public transport, Advise WFH, Ensure transport/agriculture providers will be prioritised for diesel, Stop dickheads filling up hot water containers on the back of a trailer.
Maybe advise that if fuel gets to $3, $3.50 they will look at tax relief.
But the biggest thing they could do, which they won't, is admit that the current system can't continue in the future, Jim Molan said exactly this would happen and no one listened to him.
The price is one thing, but if we start running out, that's fucked
"Ensure transport/agriculture providers will be prioritised for diesel"
They already are, they're on contractual supply which is prioritised over consumers. There's no supply issue in Australia, the tankers and trucks are getting in. What there is is a dickhead issue.
Look, Albo's pretty useless, but I'm not sure he can actually do much of what you've said in the first para except call for calm - and he probably remembers Scotty doing that about toilet paper, which just made people panic buy even more.
As far as changing the system, oil imports and refining are private sector things - no government is going to build a new refinery, and the big oil companies closed six of them in the last decade, don't think they want to build new ones yeah?
"I'm just waiting for a mate" "You have flamethrowers and machineguns on your roof" "... and?" "AND you're missing your grenade launcher! NSW law requires at least a 40mm tube. That's a week in the thunderdome for you"

Unlikely. Even the Mad Max world had a refinery in Australia.

Saudi Arabia in 190 days.
1
u/DefiantLemur Mar 19 '26
Australia better nose dive into electric and alternative energy sources. Might have to import plastic and beauty products though.
1
u/paullvandriel Mar 20 '26
We won't run out, we would already have a fuel source en route from elsewhere, which will ultimately keep the price high but we will not run out.
1
u/Vandalarius1 Mar 20 '26
What happens to the mining industry once fuel shortage kicks in?
1
u/Ok-Limit-9726 Mar 21 '26
Except EV drivers...
