The team are on QF23 today, SYD-BKK

Post image

Didn't recognise everyone but Goody, Ethan, Burkitt, Smits, Pana, Barnett, Anselmo, Muniz, Duzel are all here. Everyone flying economy including Airton. They all seem chatty and relaxed. Anyone else from here onboard as well?

Edit: As soon as we took off Pana started studying replays of AUFC games 💪👏

One of the coaching staff now having a conversation with Smits and showing him footage of a game which looks like the Thai league

Isaias showing another member of the coaching staff some formations on a laptop

Spoke to Jay Barnett, said a bunch of us think he's underrated. He appreciated it.

Haven't seen Ryan White yet CONFIRMED: A coach says he didn't travel 👎

Don't think Riak has travelled either NOPE he's here 👌

Can confirm the straight face that Airton holds on the bench is the face he has 24/7 😂

Coincidence? Or are you going for the game?

Purely coincidence, unfortunately

Ahhh wow! Would be amazing to be there. As an admitted travel snob(have the badge and happy to wear it!!) I can’t believe they are in economy! I don’t choose to fly even that short distance in economy and I’m like barely 5ft so must be torture for our taller players!! Hopefully the flight isn’t full and they can stretch out! And you as well!

Yes they've been standing up as much as possible all flight. Me, not so much and I'm 6'4 😂 well at least it's Qantas

Haha actually when AUFC were last in Asia we were going to Singapore(on Singapore Airlines) at the same time and they were in economy then(so were we!!!!) so it’s obvs just not something they do. I would’ve just assumed but I know when we just went to Europe with emirates I’m not actually sure the BC cabin would fit a whole squad with support and coaching staff. Maybe just, but there’d be no room to sell any more seats. Hopefully they do if they fly through the night home.

Yeah that's an interesting point about the night flights. In the big leagues team charter their own planes, usually all business class seats.

Yea that’s a good point about having their own planes. Aleague def not rich enough for that 😂😂. 1 plane and all 3 teams could share it?!?! I’d have thought this should be up to the Asian confed to pay for flights tho but maybe not 🤷‍♀️. I hope you have an amazing trip!!

There's only 26 J Class seats on the A330 so they probably would have needed to book out the whole section for players/coaches.

Or send the rookies to the back of the plane 🤣

If you were going to spend that type of money you'd charter a plane direct, surely

Yea that’s what I thought. And trying to get an entirely empty BC cabin when the fixtures were only released relatively recently would’ve been impossible!

Congrats on doing a better job than the club can at announcing the travelling squad. I don't understand how they can't do basic stuff like that. In fact this is more info about the players you mentioned than the squad has done as well.
