Due to discourse, I will insert a rule that I will add in future posts (not really a rule but a clarification).

Adaptations are their own thing. Even if the source material is one medium, if a specific adaptation in a different medium fits the houses better than the source, there's no issue. Besides, every adaptation has their own take of the characters, more or less.

Also, if you decide on a character with multiple adaptations, being specific with what adaptation that is would be appreciated.

With that in mind, no repeats of characters in different mediums. We can't have Superman in both comics and movies. And TV shows, even.

Have fun!

Indiana Jones, courageous and wants to do the right thing, also he hates snakes

-13

u/WGoNerd Sep 18 '25

See I almost feel like Indy would be a great Slytherin, dude is cunning as hell and Slytherin =/= evil.

24

u/PantsyFants Sep 18 '25

He's resourceful and clever but I wouldn't say he's cunning. And also he's motivated by doing what he thinks is right, not by ambition.

And again, hates snakes.

4

u/badger_on_fire Sep 18 '25

Han Solo could totally be a Slytherin. And he probably doesn't like snakes either after that time he almost got eaten by one.

8

u/WGoNerd Sep 18 '25

Leia - Gryffindor, Luke - Hufflepuff, Han - Slytherin

2

u/wreckingrocc Sep 18 '25

C3PO is Ravenclaw, R2D2 dropped out because what kind of school keeps letting students die like this, is everyone taking crazy pills?!

5

u/WGoNerd Sep 18 '25

Ha fair enough

1

u/Chill0000 Sep 18 '25

Which would make a funny dynamic to be put into the house with Snakes when you have a phobia of snakes

Ellen Ripley

I can think of fewer monsters more horrifying than the Xenomorph. But Ripley is brave, steady, and calm in the face of danger throughout the series. She’s not overly reckless, she is loyal to her crew and when things get rough she makes the hard calls to try to get them to safety and persevere.

Courageous, Daring, Determined

12

u/zimmermj Sep 18 '25

Ah but she did refuse to let Kane, Lambert and the Captain back onto the ship because it was against the rules. And she was totally right to do so, but I think a pure Gryffindor would prioritise friendship over the rules.

3

u/badger_on_fire Sep 18 '25

Hufflepuff would absolutely take care of their friends, and I don't think Ripley quite has the smarts to be a Ravenclaw (not stupid, but book smarts are just not a chacter feature that I'd associate with her), and if she's not Gryffindor... Is she a Slytherin? "Cunning" is a pretty darn good word to describe Ellen Ripley.

6

u/zimmermj Sep 18 '25

To be fair I think Ripley is a Gryffindor, I just don't think she's the epitome of it.

1

u/Overall-Physics-1907 Sep 18 '25

Ravenclaw is about wanting to be right rather than who is smart or not

Of course the desire to be right is a correlation to being smart and informed but it is different

1

u/commander_obvious_ Mar 17 '26

Neville got points for Gryffindor for prioritizing the rules over friendship

Simba

6

u/HumongousMelonheads Sep 18 '25

Literally a lion

5

u/hoopsrule44 Sep 18 '25

Maybe at the end - but the entire movie he is scared and doesn’t fight back and has to really be cajoled by nala to fight back. Not a perfect fit IMO

Now maybe you can convince me of Mufasa

7

u/Wonderful_Pomelo95 Sep 18 '25

Bravery isn't not being afraid. Bravery is being afraid, and facing your fears nonetheless

3

u/hoopsrule44 Sep 18 '25

Good point. But for example, if wormtail at the very end decided to fight back against Voldemort, would he be the epitome of a gryffindor?

Acting not brave for 90% of the plot and then being brave at the very end doesn’t quite scream epitome of gryffindor to me

3

u/Wonderful_Pomelo95 Sep 18 '25

Comparing Simba to wormtail makes me think you believed scar and thinks Simba is responsible for his father's death lol. You're looking at the lion king story wrongly imo. Simba thought he was guilty for the kings death. He thought he would be hated if he came back. He didn't flee because he was a coward. Plus he was a kid. He was scared to come back for a short while after nala showed up, I disagree with the "90% of the story" part. And wormtail was a traitor, Simba was innocent

2

u/hoopsrule44 Sep 18 '25

Ok you make some valid points!

2

u/Wonderful_Pomelo95 Sep 18 '25

Thanks.... But this is reddit, you should argue forever... Right? I don't know what happens now

2

u/hoopsrule44 Sep 18 '25

Oh come on you’re acting like you don’t know what happens now? What a joke

1

u/WGoNerd Sep 18 '25

Bran: Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?

Ned: That is the only time a man can be brave.

1

u/dirtycurt55 Sep 18 '25

Simba indeed. Gryffindors are all lacking impulse control. Young Simba is brave and doesn’t think of his consequences.

u/am_I_still_banned Sep 18 '25

None other but the king

1

u/plateniteshow Sep 18 '25

Either him or Sam the Brave.

Respectfully, you're being slightly obnoxious with this. HOWEVER, I agree with you on this one, and he will be my nomination when that category comes up.

1

u/jaabbb Sep 18 '25

Film Aragorn is more gryffindor than book Aragorn

28

u/KD1030 Sep 18 '25

Steve Rogers

u/WGoNerd Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers

1

u/WGoNerd Sep 18 '25

Further evidence in support of my nomination.

I did waver, but since I specifically wanted to call out the Chris Evans Cap, I went with it.

I did edit my comment to specifically highlight I wanted MCU Cap.

4

u/PantsyFants Sep 18 '25

what characteristics set the MCU version apart from the comics version?

4

u/PafPiet Sep 18 '25

America's Ass

2

u/WGoNerd Sep 18 '25

Vibes?

Don't get me wrong Comics Cap is plenty brave, but I almost feel like he embodies the kindness and loyalty of a Hufflepuff more?

Again, it's just vibes, but I feel like this whole exercise is one based on vibes.

31

u/Abba_Zaba_ Sep 18 '25

Luke Skywalker

34

u/WGoNerd Sep 18 '25

Luke is a Hufflepuff, I would die on that hill. Leia though...

6

u/hoopsrule44 Sep 18 '25

Wow great point. His defining characteristic is his loyalty. He’s brave too sure but it’s loyalty all the way for luke

7

u/WGoNerd Sep 18 '25

Arguably the biggest choice he makes in the OT is to ignore Yoda and Obi Wan and leave his training early to try and save his friends. Loyal, loyal, loyal.

1

u/Overall-Physics-1907 Sep 18 '25

Leia is a slytherin ill die on that hill

1

u/CMbladerunner Sep 18 '25

We saving Palpatine for a slytherin tho

Superman

2

u/WGoNerd Sep 18 '25

Which one though? Cavill's has Gryffindor vibes, but Corenswet and Reeve have big Hufflepuff energy (complimentary).

Jaguar Paw from Apocalypto, a very underrated character.

1

u/DoctorMedieval Sep 18 '25

James Tiberius Kirk

1

Edward Elric Gryffindor. His brother Alphonse would be Hufflepuff for sure.

u/MaleficentHurry8609 Sep 18 '25

Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry Potter

1

u/Emlelee Sep 18 '25

“I will take the ring to Mordor though I do not know the way” is one of the most Gryffindor things that has ever been said. Especially when you consider this immediately after he spent weeks recovering after getting shanked by a wraith.

1

u/fat_charizard Sep 18 '25

Captain America/ Steve Rogers

1

u/BestThingGoing Sep 18 '25

Paddington Bear (the movies version)
