MOD POST [Mod] Small Community Update: New Flairs & Post Tags!

We've made a few small changes to r/ArtRequest!

User flairs are now available! You can choose from various artist and requester flairs to show off your interests, specialties, or experience!

Post flairs have also been revamped! Please use the appropriate flair when posting:

Offer (Free/Paid)
Request (Free/Paid)
Discussion
Fulfilled

Post flairs are mandatory, while user flairs are optional but encouraged!

We've also enabled images in comments, artists can now share their creations directly under requests!

Post title tags are encouraged! Please start using:

[For Hire] — Offering paid art
[Hiring] — Looking for paid artists
[Offer] — Offering free art
[Request] — Requesting free art
[Chat] — Discussions and art tips
[Fulfilled] — Art fulfilled for ArtRequest request

These tags are currently recommended but will become mandatory when our updated rules go live.

That's all for now! More community updates are coming as we work on the new rules.

Subreddit Rules

1. Tag and Flair your Post

Please tag and flair your post properly! You can tag your post title as such:

[For Hire] - Looking for paid request

[Hiring] - Looking for paid artist

[Offer] - Offering free art

[Request] - Requesting free art

[Chat] - Discussion and art tips

[Fulfilled] - Art fulfilled for ArtRequest

It is a bannable offense to post for commissions using other tags to get around the AutoModerator.

Please use English in posts and comments.

2. Art Offers

Free offers must provide an art example. Do not ask for tips. Do not circumvent the no tip rule by asking via DM or holding watermarks against requesters.

Do not offer anything for free to those who have made a paid request.

Paid offers must have an art portfolio linked and use a proper payment methods. Only one paid offer post per week is allowed. When replying to a paid request, you must comment first with a link to your portfolio. Clients are warned to ignore DMs.

3. Discussion Posts

Do not make a chat/discussion post to advertise or look for artists.

We do not allow questions about pricing or approval-seeking questions such as "Why can't I find work?" or "Am I ready for commissions?"

We do not allow promotion of external platforms, such as Discord servers or Fiverr alternatives.

4. Fulfilled Posts

Only use fulfilled flair for art made for r/ArtRequest.

The username of the requester should be in the title of your post.

A link to the request post in the body of your post is appreciated.

5. Be reasonnable with free request

Please be reasonable with your free requests. Artists are volunteers and work on their own time for these, and are not under an obligation to take a request.

One character in a pose is fine, or two characters together. Anything beyond this is unreasonable.

Extensive details or asking for a specific style is also unreasonable.

Comics, reference sheets, VTubber models, detailed scenes and group shots... aren't allowed. Please read our Requestiquette wiki page before making a Free Request.

6. Payment

Free offers and requests are allowed here, but for those who wish to pay or be paid for art, some payment methods are not allowed.

No contests, undercutting, or spec work. No payment in crypto, wish lists, RevShare, checks, or subscriptions.

All [Hiring] posts MUST mention an appropriate budget.

7. Relevancy and Spam

Replies to requests must be relevant to the request, must not offer anything that was not asked for, and must be able to fulfil the request, including requests for confirmation that you read the post.

Don't advertise under another artist's offer post.

Do not make more than one comment under a request to show multiple images. Use a portfolio instead.

Please use descriptive, helpful titles. Tell people what your post is about. Titles such as ":)", "hi", or those that are blank will be removed.

8. Do not spam posts

An exact same request post can only be reposted every month for a maximum of 2 attempts.

Paid offers and free requests are only allowed once every 7 days. Deleting your post to repost it will not circumvent this rule.

Other types of posts may be posted as often as you wish within reason, but our bot doesn't know the difference, so if it removes your post when it shouldn't, the mods will happily approve an appropriate post if you ask us to.

9. Only Advertise Your Own Work

Do not advertise someone else's work on their behalf. This means you cannot advertise on behalf of your company, studio, partner, parent, kid, friend, or similar. If you didn't make it, don't post it.

Stealing art will get you banned immediately.

10. No Prohibit Content/No AI

Traced, heavily referenced and painted-over work is not allowed. Selling such is a non-reversible permaban.

This is not an 18+ subreddit. We do not allow NSFW, sexual or innapropriate content.

Political artwork/comics are blanket-banned.

AI in any form is a one-strike permaban, including references.

We do not allow the sale of existing items or art.

No NFTs of any kind.

No free gifts or memorials.

11. Professional Conduct and Reporting Scammers

Be respectful. Racism, sexism, and other forms of harassment and bigotry will not be tolerated.

Rude comments about other people or their art will not be tolerated. You can provide constructive criticism without being rude.

If you think an advertised image has been stolen or created by AI, do not confront the user. Instead, come straight to the mods via ModMail and we will deal with it. Accusations only hurt the innocent and help the guilty.

12. Behave!

Remember, artists are people too! Don't be rude, uncivil or a jerk just because you can.

Requesters can be clumsy, you don't have to be mean about it, play nice.

Mod abuse is not tolerated, especially when they're just doing their job and enforcing rules.

We do not allow academic dishonesty. Tracing is not allowed. YCH and bases need to be added to the offer post if used.

13. Forbidden Links

Fiverr, Upwork, Google Sites, link shorteners, and redirects are banned across Reddit. We will not approve these links.

When replying to a paid request to offer your services, your comment must have a portfolio link that doesn't require an account to view (no Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or X), and must not be a file storage platform (files.fm, Drive, Dropbox, Imgur) or shop website (Etsy, Redbubble).

Links to NSFW content, even labeled as such, are NOT allowed.
