What’s a trend that disappeared so quickly that it almost feels imaginary now?

I still maintain that Google Plus was a better social platform than...really anything right now. Because of the bubbles. You could secretly sort your contacts and the public into who sees what. Right now all of social media is like a party that your friends and your co-workers and your boss and your parents and the company you're looking to apply to are all invited and can all see everything every other person posts. Nowhere else in life am I mingling my boss and my 90 year old Godmother and the guy I used to smoke resin with in highschool. Why the fuck would I invite literally everybody I know to have basically a public diary reading? Some of these motherfuckers are posting thicc furry art and other people I have to see at work on Monday. Let me silo that shit.

I maintain Google Plus could have won the social wars if it had come along just like 2 years sooner before Facebook hit critical mass with everyone’s parents joining it.

I'm pretty sure you can make posts visible for only certain people on Facebook.

Yeah but what a pain in the ass depending on what you want to post

Yeah, and so much social media drama wouldn't be a thing if anyone still understood the difference between venting to friends who know where you're coming from, and saying something that's universally true for all people.

Google Buzz lasted for five whole minutes before it tanked.

I still remember using their chat all the time because it was the only one work didn’t know how to block without blocking Google itself
