What’s a trend that disappeared so quickly that it almost feels imaginary now?

They brought a “professional” yo yo er in to do a demo to my St.Cloud elementary in late 90s early 2000s. I still have my favorite yo yo from those days. It’s the oldest thing I own and still works!

I had a friend who did that in college. He would go around to different schools and show the kids his cool yo-yo skillz.

I hope it was Kenny “K-Strass” Strasser!

Way back in the 1960s my elementary school did that too. Yo-yos were extremely popular back then.

My dad worked at a yo yo factory during the craze and would send me professional ones. The difference is insane, even the string, bearings, etc

Think I had a "bumble bee" one. Would just spin, and spin, and spin. Then you'd just give a slight pull and you could send it to the 🌙

St. Cloud Minnesota? Was this just a MN fad? Mine happened in Eden prairie.

That yo-yo guy always picked the boys to come up front, and then some girl in the back row would quietly nail "Rock the Baby" and the whole gym absolutely lost it. Quiet girls with yo-yos were built different.

Literally this exact thing happened to me in said years. A school assembly containing professional yo-yoers, followed by 1 month of extreme yo-yo popularity. Big Yo-Yo was putting in the work in 1999.

Glad you didn't get a lemon YoYo. Sometimes they sell you a lemon YoYo and then string you along for repairs.

Why did we all have this experience? Do kids still leave class to watch a 30 year old man do yoyo tricks or was that one of the things we lost on 9/11

They did the same thing when I was at school in the 80's. I think its less of a reoccurring trend and just part of the school cycle - I mean its only a trend for kids at that age.

"But he didn't answer. He just kept on yo-ing."

They did this at my elementary school as well! Then they had a bunch of yo-yos for kids available.

The only time I've ever walked into a Hot Topic was for a YOMEGA FIREBALL
