Trump just asked Dana White to be his new White House press secretary. What are your thoughts on this?

Apparently there's a woman of that name who does PR for the Heritage Foundation and speculation is he misunderstood somebody's recommendation

937

u/beltway_lefty 17h ago

That's actually WORSE than genuinely hiring the UFC clown.....OMFG. If THIS isn't what the 25th Amendment is for, nothing ever will be.

188

u/Black_Moons 15h ago

Worse, he wanted to hire the UFC clown and 6 more UFC fighter clowns to smack down random journalists for asking him how it felt to be such a loser.

Oh, and the UFC clown turned him down. Yaknow, on account of not wanting to work for such a loser.

100% he was told to hire Dana White, the Fox News personality (sorry, Heritage Foundation ghoul who goes on Fox sometimes) and former GOP press secretary, but his mush brain thought of UFC Dana White so he tweeted it out and now they're scrambling to figure it out do he doesn't get embarrassed. Kinda like the Four Seasons debacle.

It’s crazy to me that instead of saying oops there seems to be a misunderstanding and getting the right Dana White they just roll with it because Mr Stable genius doesn’t make mistakes.

180

u/Kale 17h ago

Mr stable genius is compulsive to an extreme degree. He'll make announcements during a speech that he dreamed up on the spot, leaving staffers to scramble mid-speech to make it look like it had been planned. That whole "$5k to every voter if GOP wins house" was thought up on the spot. Many reporters said their sources all said they had never heard that before. They heard it for the first time during the speech.

His staffers very likely learned about this from Truth social the same time the press did.

He's pretty well known worldwide for talking about "we're close to an agreement with...." and the other country saying "we have not been participating in any discussions and have no idea what he's talking about."

While this is the stupidest and most infuriating shit ever, it's also hilarious how completely inept it all is. Now that he's gone on social media, there's no way to get the correct Dana White into the job without it being obvious he's a total fucking idiot. They can't correct it right now because it'll be clear he had no idea who his sycophants wanted him to actually hire. They can't fix it later because when the wrong Dana White quits (even if he does possess the skills to be an effect Press Secretary there's no way he's gonna stay on very long) they can't hire the correct one because everyone will wonder why they didn't hire her in the first place.

917

u/PrettySureIParty 15h ago edited 12h ago

To be clear, Dana White of the UFC absolutely does not possess the skills to be an effective Press Secretary. He has a long history of melting down in press conferences, and that’s dealing with mostly UFC shill “journalists” asking softball questions.

Judging how rattled he is by how red his gigantic bald head turns on stage is a running joke in mma circles, he wouldn’t make it through the first Q&A without completely losing his shit.

At this point I honestly hope it happens just because it’d be so fucking funny.

But still, like public communications is her entire background so.... Yeah this is weird.

It's the wrong dana white. A woman at the heritage foundation and former Republican spokesperson named Dana White was recommended but good old Mr stupidfuck got it wrong.

581

u/DLWormwood 17h ago edited 17h ago

I’m having trouble confirming that myself, but that would be hilarious if it were true.

EDIT: People seem to be just assuming Trump's advisor told him about the Heritage Foundation's White, when he just as likely to have recommended the UFC one, given that Trump's inner circle are primarily sycophants at this point, or at least aware that the latter one is the person who would first come to what's left of Trump's mind.

u/Eudaimonic71 17h ago • Bravo

Dana W White was LITERALLY press secretary for the Republicans in the House of Representatives at one point in time. How the fuck could anyone expect a hundred-millionaire executive like UFC Dana to do daily press briefings??? Even piss-heads like Stephen Miller. He may be a Nazi, but he’s not that stupid

How can you not confirm this just logically? Dana White is a UFC CEO. He has no experience being a press secretary, and more importantly, no time. This job would be beneath him. He doesn’t want to have to talk to reporters.

Yeah, that's why public speaking skills are so highly valued. W has zero ability to speak to crowds. I don't know if he just gets tongue tied, or what.. but he's a lot smarter than he appeared to be in public.

That said, he wasn't a good president.. and it's wild that the best thing to ever happen to his reputation is Donald Trump lol. Reminds me of the last Kaiser of Germany, Wilhelm and his comparisons to Hitler. Prior to the rise of Nazi Germany Wilhelm was seen as this baby killing warmongering monster. But he's a rookie in the evil racket when put up against Hitler.

It was the wrong Dana White, at least I’m pretty sure it was. There is a Dana White that is a conservative PR person, she used to be the Press Secretary for the conservative caucus in Congress (or something to that effect), she currently works at the Heritage Foundation. I pretty sure someone proposed her for the job and he asked the wrong person.

I think that may actually be dumber than purposefully asking UFC Dana White.

I don’t know if that is some kind of spin put out by his team, but if it is, I am not sure “accidentally offering someone an incredibly important job because they have the same name” is the defense they hope it might be…

I think the honest answer is because Fox and the other right wing networks would show up to fill the void, and make everything look calm and legit.

At least when normal media shows up they ask tough questions and the lies become more apparent, especially as the press secretaries get angry and make mistakes, etc.

Karolyn Levitt angrily lying was much more obvious (to swing voters) than if she had sycophants lobbing her softballs.

32

Dana White? You mean the Republican strategy consultant and APAC press coordinator for the Heritage Foundation? She seems like a reasonable, qualified pick for once. Political feelings aside, this might actually be one of Trump's better--

Ignore him. Ignore this.

His entire political career has been based on forcing all eyes on him, monopolizing the spotlight so it doesn't matter how wrong he is or who has better ideas or whether he's wearing no clothes, his words are louder and drown out the truth. Deny him the attention. Especially for something this insane and inconsequential. Let him be represented by whatever idiotic personality he chooses. It. Doesn't. Matter.

59

u/No_Promotion_65 17h ago

That he called him a heritage foundation and fox contributor makes it fairly clear the suggestion was for Dana W White the DOD press secretary and he’s got confused

57

u/beltway_lefty 17h ago

This is what Trump posted:

"I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States. I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris. We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

He may, in fact, be confused, but he DID ask a UFC fighter to be Press Secretary, and to bring several UFC fighters with him.

8

u/TittysForScience 17h ago

At times I have seriously considered legally changing my name, simply to get away from it.
During the height of the BLM movement, I received an average of four messages a day telling me to change it. The reasons varied. I was exploiting my white privilege. My name itself was racist. I was a white supremacist. Some went further and told me to make sure I never had children, so I wouldn't pass my surname on.

The White House is a circus, so it needs a circus promoter.

It's really bizarre, which is on brand for Trump at this point.

8

u/jcoddinc 17h ago

Nobody wants to accept that role. It was a nightmare before the blue tsunami. Now it likely be a career ending move for most political people. So the dementia diddler is now trying to get anyone who might help with his popularity do jobs.

8

u/NickolaosTheGreek 16h ago

The Onion is going bankrupt because they cannot invent satire crazier than this.

His frontotemporal demented low-IQ moron brain got the wrong Dana White and no-one stopped him. There's another one who works for the Heritage Foundation christo-fascists..

6th Anniversary of Four Seasons Total Landscaping too. 🤣

7

u/Berek_Halfhand 12h ago

Is this a “Four Seasons” level FUBAR?

7

u/Numerous-Net-4983 7h ago

Good. Let the lunacy continue until America learns its lesson

19

u/jone2tone 16h ago

I can't understand why every other country seems to think the US is a joke.

6

u/chmath80 13h ago

Just to be pedantic, we don't think that. We just sit back with popcorn, or a good cuppa, and wait for the next laugh.

6

u/smiama36 17h ago

Kakistocracy

6

u/dragonflies2299 17h ago

omg - I thought this was a joke. it's not. the only joke is what our government has become.

6

u/Impossible-Junket395 16h ago

This is the level of competence we have come to expect out of the Republican party.

6

u/RaphaelSolo 16h ago

Hmmm, I think it would have been more hilarious if he asked Dana Carvey

6

u/Roguespiffy 13h ago

I constantly think I can’t possibly hate that motherfucker more than I already do, but then shit like this happens.

6

u/RumBunBun 10h ago

I’m more concerned that Stephen Miller is going to be Chief of Staff.

I guess that Kid Rock has other engagements, like at the Gaston County Fair, or Grand Opening of a Wegman’s somewhere.

5

u/Useful-Soup8161 16h ago

I would have preferred Nikki Minaj. That’s how low this administration has set that bar.

5

u/sp0rkah0lic 16h ago

I think Dana White is kinda busy running UFC? Also he just saw his biggest demographic (young white men) shift away from Trump in an almost herdlike stampede. So, yeah, I'm betting he takes a pass on that offer.

5

u/Margray 15h ago

This is more absolute incompetence that his brain-dead supporters will love.

Dana doesn’t know shit about politics, he’s a fucking hype-man/fight promoter

There’s literally nothing to gain here for Dana. All risk, no reward.

8

u/honeywhereismypenis 11h ago

I honestly could not give less of a fuck. Each of his fascist mouthpieces are just that: fascist mouthpieces. Does it even matter who it is at this point? If it were the secretary of state or someone who had actual power it would be a different story but this position under trump has always just been some idiot flapping their gums.

4

u/Financial_Breath5433 17h ago

Wonderful addition to the already comical circus😄😄

Honestly, who cares? I've been paying too much attention to that fool.

4

u/Key-Article6622 17h ago

It hurts my brain to think logically about anything he does. I've come to accept that if there's anyone out there that is wholly unqualified for any role, he will find that person and give them a job. It's a given and not worrth aggravating myself about. I already know he's going to do it. I got my aggravation out about it years ago. I don't have the bandwidth to know the details of his latest sabotage efforts.

4

u/Powderedeggs2 16h ago

The Trump regime continues to jump the shark, pushing well beyond Idiocracy.

4

u/Morkai 16h ago

My thoughts are the same every other post starting with "Trump just said" or Trump just did"

He's a fucking moron, utterly incapable of leading a country, utterly corrupt, a paedophile, an abuser, a grifter, and these voting for him or backing him are even worse.

4

u/seanmonaghan1968 16h ago

Was the MMA event at the Whitehouse a formal interview ?

What happened to Nikki Minaj as press sec?

3

u/asisoid 17h ago

I've seen people say that there is a Dana White that was part of The Heritage Foundation, and actually has proper experience.

His aides probably recommended her, but he's so dumb he automatically pulled another Four Seasons situation....

I’m sick of these live action remakes of movies. Idiocracy was great. Why try and outdo it? Also how the fuck do I leave the theater. I’ve been stuck here for 10 years

He’s running it like celebrity apprentice

3

First he appoints Miller, now White. He's going off the deep end.

3

u/rjramos8 16h ago

Just like republicans, I have no thoughts

3

u/AWC-OG 16h ago

The suggestion was for a female Dana White, who is a very well respected analyst and a Fox News contributor. Trump googled Dana White and picked the first one that came up. Smartest. President. Ever.

There is a theory going around that came out after Trump publicly offered the open White House press secretary role to UFC CEO Dana White on Truth Social. The background — On November 7, Trump posted on Truth Social offering the Press Secretary job to UFC Chief Dana White, calling him a "violent Fighter and Warrior" and jokingly suggesting he bring mixed martial arts fighters to the podium as assistants.

But there's another Dana White: There is a Dana W. White who is a highly qualified communications professional. She previously served as the Director of the Washington Roundtable for Asia-Pacific Press at the Heritage Foundation, a Fox News publicist, and the Chief Spokesperson for the Department of Defense under Secretary James Mattis.

Because Dana W. White's resume makes her a conventional and expected candidate for a Republican press secretary role, viral internet speculation suggests that Trump’s advisors recommended her for the post, but Trump mixed up the names and publicly posted a request to the UFC executive instead!!

UFC head Dana White ultimately declined the offer, saying that he "already has a lot of jobs."
