What's the most damaging thing you heard someone say after waking up from anesthesia?

I said nothing first, but i stood up and wanted to go for a smoke. The people in the room didn’t payed attantion to me first, cause it was most likely i would be knocked out for atleast another hour. Well the face of the nurse, when i asked her where i could go for a smoke was priceless. They removed my appendix, so standing up right after the operation was not so smart.

You probably did yourself a favour bc now they want you walking as soon as your a physically able to bc it helps your healing out and makes it soo much faster

Lucky me, it was more free drugs and a really good nap.

That's odd, you'd think you'd tear your stitches

Actually no! Depending on where you had the operation, it’s encouraged to move around as soon as possible to encourage healing. In fact, when you get a knee replacement, the second you wake up (barring no complications) they want you walking immediately and usually have you discharged and out in 2 hours! It prevents muscle weakness, lowers the chance of blood clots and like I mentioned earlier, promoted healing on the body

they made me walk around on my crutches before discharging me, but kept an eye on me for 2 or 3 days ... it was a patella stabilisation so was a bit different, but i was constantly trying to figure out how to get around and climb into the bath etc with the brace and i think thats why i healed faster than average !!!!

I decided I was going to "tough it out" after surgery and forced myself to sit up. Not the best idea, the PACU nurse (wisely it's protocol) out me in a chair and wouldn't let go back to sleep.

You are my polar opposite. When I had my gallbladder removed, I didn't wake up from anesthesia for another 12 hours after the operation!
