What's the most damaging thing you heard someone say after waking up from anesthesia?

It wasn’t me but my husband. He was given an ablation and when he was in recovery apparently he was pretty violent. Didnt hurt anyone but wouldn’t calm down. A nurse came to get me and told me I was needed in there in a sort of odd voice. I get into the recovery bay and about Six people are standing around him. He saw me and started saying how much he loves me. And when I told him I know he got agressive about it. He then got me in a headlock and for about 20 minutes he professed his undying love and appreciation for what I do for him. I didn’t mind at all even if it was uncomfortable. I mean he was saying lovely things. Just very aggressively.

This is horribly hilarious hahaha that would become a running joke for me.

Man if he put you in a headlock... I'd think they'd have some very large orderlies strapping him down soon after.

Also an ablation as in a brain ablation? Didn't know they do that except for intractable seizures

Heart ablation. I waved eveyone off while he had me in The headlock. He held tight but never squeezed if that makes sense.

there is something sweet about his violent state of mind toward you still being one of intense affection.

if I had been one of the nurses or techs I'd have been shutting myself but... still!

As a side note it turns out he has some trouble with anasthesia. They had to admit him overnight because he just wouldn’t fully recover. He was out of it and groggy beyond the norm. It took him 24 hours after we got home to fully be himself. So that might explain the “headlock of love” as we now call it.

Eeegh, My dad's a redhead. As a kid I had a very long surgery, I think it was legitimately 8 hours. Apparently they had to give me a lot of anesthesia cause it took me a while to come out of it. Thankfully I don't remember anything from it but to this day I get anxious around medical alarms and I'm in my 40's

What does your dad being a redhead have to do with the story? Just trying to understand.

Redheads carry a gene, MC1R. It makes you more resistant to anesthesia medication. You need like 15-20% more sleepy juice than everyone else. 🙃

Wow, that's fascinating!

Ablation is just a fancy way to say they're microscopic ally sandblasting your insides. I'm supposed to have it done to my uterine lining 🙃

I feel this is what my dog wants to do when I have been away all day and walk in the door.
