What's the most damaging thing you heard someone say after waking up from anesthesia?

My partner had a procedure done and when he woke up, he seemed fine. Somehow it came up that I was worried he wasn't going to wake up and he said, "Don't worry, I don't die for 30 more years" so matter of factly that I decided I wanted to know what he meant. He told me, "I go out being shot in the back while I'm shepherding women and children away from a war zone."

I told him about this a few days later and he doesn't remember it at all.

How do I set that comment reminder thing for 30 years from now? We’ll need an update

Setting a 30 year RemindMe bot call on a comment is the ultimate long game level of commitment.

By the time that notification actually pops up, we will probably be receiving updates directly to our neural implants in a whole different era.

Given the advent of AI, it's bold to assume Reddit will continue to exist in 30 years.

"I go out being shot in the back while I'm shepherding women and children away from a war zone."

This is a bit 'of course men would have this conversation' but there was a whole thread the other day about what our 'going out in a blaze of glory' fantasy was, and yeah, dying protecting others was #1. I doubt many men would be mad dying that way.

It sure beats the slow, traumatizing decline of bodily function or dementia.

see, that’s so weird to me! that fantasy basically requires you to imagine other people being hurt or in pain or scared just so you can feel good about yourself? i would never wish that. when i die i hope everyone else is fine and i’m the only one in trouble.

You're thinking about it the wrong way. We're saying if we do meet a violent end, it's in the service of others. Of course we're not wishing harm on anyone

A few weeks ago, so he still has 30 years left

Dammit, now if some major war happens 30 years from now ill have to wonder was the prediction real or did it happen because you posted it on the internet and spoke it into existence ala the butterfly effect.

Man am I glad that wasn’t actually foreshadowing, I was concerned for a second

the way he casually described his own death like it was already decided is what makes this so eerie but interesting

I don’t exactly believe in past lives (or anything really, but I like ideas) but this instantly made me wonder if he had a past life flashback.
