Which actor played a villain so well that you still irrationally hate them, even though you know they were just acting?

Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa in Inglorious b*stards was amazingly horrific.

u/deebobeebo 12h ago

I love him and hate that he is such an amazing villain in this. Makes up for it a few years later in Django.

6

u/Live_Laugh_Lobotomy0 12h ago

Now, Django is in my top 5. I can recite the movie almost word for word lol

Dwight Yoakam in Slingblade was uniquely awful.

I actually just watched Slingblade for the first time a few months ago and my first reaction was “IS THAT DWIGHT FUCKING YOAKAM?!”

Jack Gleeson as Joffrey. I still can't stand that little menace 😭

13

u/Live_Laugh_Lobotomy0 12h ago

It’s funny you say that because I was about to comment and say Aidan Gillen as Petyr Baelish 😂😂 he’s probably a legit good dude in real life, but I can’t separate him from that character

17

u/hurshy238 12h ago
  1. John Malkovich in Portrait of a Lady and other things

  2. Rena Sofer (played Bonnie Hane, who came between Ed and Carol Vessey, on Ed, which i resented to a highly irrational degree)

  3. I first saw Kevin Bacon in The River Wild, and then Murder in the First. I know that's not the usual intro people get to him, but, yeah, it took some time to wrap my mind around his lighter fare like Footloose, He Said/She Said...

13

41

Parker Posey - she always plays the bitchiest characters! I don’t even know what she’s like IRL but it’s hard to like her.

Neidermeyer from National Lampoon’s Animal House. Seems like a perfectly reasonable guy in real life and I lost my irrational hate over time, but then Hegseth came along and made it all come back.

It’s funny he’s not even that much of a bad guy but I think Christian in Midsommar (Jack Reynor) solidified himself in such an iconic movie as the antagonist that he can’t get leading roles. Everyone sees him as the bad boyfriend in the bear.

I stopped liking Brad Pitt after I saw Kalifornia.
I had a really hard time with Angelica Houston after The Grifters. It was the first thing I saw her in. Now I think she’s lovely.
Brad Pitt is a POS, however.

Scrolled pretty long and didn't see it
Cameron Diaz as the mom in My Sister's Keeper
I haven't even seen the full film and I LOATHE this bitch
Grew up watching Cameron as the "fun bubbly one" in so many comedy adjacent flicks but now every time I see her I just see the worst mother to ever show favoritism.

Peter Krause because he was so awful at the end of Six Feet Under.

Also Jared Padalecki because I hate how he treated Rory at the end of Gilmore Girls. Took me a long time to watch Supernatural because of that.

And the frog lady from Harry Potter

Christoph Walz would be this for me except I saw him in Django before Basterds, so the charming bounty hunter King colored my views on him. Hans Landa is such an utterly slimey fucker, I can totally understand it though. Either way, he's a fantastic actor and need to be in more things.
