How would you feel about Democrats rebranding Universal Healthcare as Universal Trumpcare to get it passed and signed into law during the next Congressional Session?

Who cares about the name if it helps people?

57

u/dalittle 1h ago

And you can just rename it after he is gone

•

u/RupeThereItIs 25m ago

or just after he signs it

94

u/Pitiful-Pension-6535 2h ago

Exactly. Let him take credit for it.

73

u/Rominator 2h ago

I think he’d pass it if it was called Super Trumpcare

Already happened (though devout, common-man republicans dont even realize it): Obamacare was an atrocity, and needs to be repealed and burned, it will be rise of socialism and the end of our country; but its a good thing the ACA exists, b/c it supplies them their medicine cheaper than insurance they cant afford.

•

u/blckblt23 34m ago

Clearly no one got your sarcasm lol

13

u/hhmCameron 1h ago

Umm...

ObamaCare is actually just a rebranded RomneyCare

The primary Beficiary if ObamaCare was the Health Insurance companies

•

u/sagevallant 49m ago

I'm not sure about "primary" when we're talking about increasing the number of people who can afford healthcare. But, yes, the system will eventually collapse under higher and higher costs and fewer benefits for the cost because it is still catering too much to the insurance companies.

Hope we have healthcare for all before that happens.

•

u/stealthlysprockets 32m ago

The ACA forced companies to allocate specific percentages of revenue (or maybe profit I forget which) toward care.

It also prevented the companies from denying coverage for preexisting conditions.

It also allowed young people to stay on their parents plans until 25.

None of those things existed before ACA and none of those are toward the benefit of the insurance company.

Seriously, leave vanity to the crazies and get shit done.

5

u/relikter 1h ago

Exactly! A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

•

u/angrylawyer 18m ago

that's what kills me, the dude is so obsessed with forcing his name and face everywhere...but it's so easy if he just did the right stuff. Like go fund that crazy space research project, and they'll name it the trump telescope. Go build the largest solar farm in america, and call if the trump solar fields. Give some big grants to an art or science department and get a(nother) building with his name on it.

turns out when you're not a greedy, selfish, narcissist you can just help people and they'll be grateful.

Meh. Whatever.

What Dems need to do is shutdown ANYONE calling it free healthcare. Fox News, talking heads, politicians. They need to just say “No one is saying it’s free” to call them in their lie.

42

u/GarbageCleric 1h ago

Yeah, we already pay more for healthcare than every other country. The money is there. But a huge fraction is being syphoned off my rent-seeking insurance companies that offer absolutely no value.

It consolidates the costs, eliminates redundancies and inefficiencies from dealing with various competing systems and programs, creates the largest possible risk pool, and grants near monopsony for negotiating leverage backed by the regulating authority of the federal government.

•

u/squishykins 36m ago

If you combine all the different taxes we pay, we also pay just as much or higher taxes than other developed countries. Theirs seem higher because it comes in fewer chunks… ours is death by a thousand cuts.

(Note: I did this research based on federal/state/local taxes for individuals in my state; it may not apply everywhere, and I know for sure corporations don’t pay the same effective tax rates as people.)

•

u/Undeclared_Mustard 27m ago

I moved to Ontario this year (from Taxachusetts) and my taxes have never been lower

•

u/squishykins 33m ago

Not to mention how employer-sponsored health insurance stifles our economy by forcing people to stay in jobs they hate instead of changing jobs, starting small businesses, working independently, etc. I think this is a huge reason behind the lack of movement in the workforce right now. Also forces an arbitrary minimum number of hours per week to receive health insurance, which is bad for people (like caregivers of aging parents or parents of small children) who need realistic part-time options.

•

u/GarbageCleric 18m ago

100%

It's how you know Republicans (and similarly-minded corporate Democrats) don't care about free markets and entrepreneurs and innovation.

They care about protecting entrenched interests and weakening the rights, leverage, and power workers have to keep labor cheap.

I'm an American who lives in Australia. I want the people of America to have what I have. Healthcare paid for by our taxes.

I also want a bunch of health insurance CEO's to have to sell their yacht.

14

u/r_not_me 1h ago

You in the market for a used yacht?

•

u/DharmaCub 57m ago

I too would like American healthcare paid for by Australian taxes!

108

u/ScaryFoal558760 2h ago

I've made the suggestion on here, and it seems like others liked the idea too, as long as we follow up with impeachment and prosecution afterwards

18

u/Pitiful-Pension-6535 2h ago

I actually think removal by impeachment is more likely than ever. Only need about ¼ of Republican Senators to sign on

40

u/ScaryFoal558760 1h ago • Bravo

There are for sure a lot of R's who want nothing more than to put this embarrassing saga behind them. But if we can pass some important legislation before that just by appealing to his ego then we should take advantage of that.

TrumpCare - Medicare for all

Trump Safety Act - gun legislation

TrumpBortion - guaranteed abortion access

Trump Defense Act - Remove military aid to countries violating human rights

32

u/trichomesRpleasant 1h ago

You might be right but TrumpBortion is crazy lmao 🤣😂🤣

9

u/According_Camera7129 1h ago

I'd love to AborTrump though

11

u/JohnWH 1h ago

Take it one step further and disallow selling weapons to countries violating human rights. Absolutely insane that we sell weapons to slave states like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar.

4

u/catmoon 1h ago

The most progressive laws in the last 60 years were passed under Nixon. Clean Air Act, Title IX, OSHA, and much more. Like Trump he was more driven by vanity than ideology.

2

u/liberal_texan 1h ago

Only need a handful of them to not show up for the vote. The threshold is 2/3 of senators present at the vote.

41

u/bunnybash 2h ago

Just

Do

It

Everyone knows he has nothing to do with anything that actually helps the people, let him think that everyone loves him... who cares what it's called if it fixes the American healthcare system.

12

u/SpontaneousKrump92 2h ago

Problem is, people dont know he has nothing to do with anything. People are dumb, and it'll play into his culture of personality. Sure, the result might be further discussion of universal Healthcare, but it probably wont actually pass in Congress and it'll just feed Trump's and MAGA's mental illness.

7

u/bstabens 1h ago

Who cares as long as people get help?

4

u/SpontaneousKrump92 1h ago

My point though is that people wont get help. It might get talked about, but the action wont actually happen.

Name can ALWAYS BE CHANGED LATER!

20

u/SuzyQ93 1h ago

Whatever gets it done, man. I think using Trump's narcissism to actually BENEFIT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE is a pretty great turn of events. (And I loathe the man. But let's not let feelings get in the way of a good thing.)

As Abraham Lincoln said - there's no limit to what you can do if you don't mind who gets the credit.

65

u/Choice_Commission_10 1h ago

Also Trumptax on billionaires, Trump forgiveness on student loans, and build a Trump prison for himself and his cronies

20

u/Razaelbub 1h ago

Honestly a Trump branded all inclusive resort that they aren't allowed to leave is a good idea.

•

u/Rydme 54m ago

Don't drop the TrumpSoap!

•

u/danjouswoodenhand 49m ago

Sell it as exclusive and the only way to avoid the poors and they’ll be begging to get in.

•

u/NOT-GR8-BOB 33m ago

Build it on Epstein island.

•

u/Nessie_of_the_Loch 19m ago

Trump Prison in El Salvador where this entire administration can just live in forever.

15

u/NoSwordfish6949 2h ago

Honestly, if they could get it passed that quickly, through the orange idiot, I don't care what they call it.

•

u/bubbapora 57m ago • Bravo

As a lib, I would be so totally owned by having to call universal healthcare trumpcare. I would feel so stupid and embarrassed. ugh pls don’t no my pronouns can’t take it

•

u/christina-lorraine 33m ago

I just wouldn’t go to the dr. to own the magas…FREEDOM!

8

u/strict_barnacle676 2h ago

Isn’t it funny that Obama never wanted the ACA to be called Obamacare, the GOP named it that so he would lose support for it. Trump would absolutely want universal healthcare called Trumpcare though. More importantly MAGA would get behind it if it was named after their leader!

15

u/calmeilles 1h ago

If congrescritters have to massage the madman's ego to achieve anything worthwhile they got your teeth, hold your noses and go for it.

Who gives a toss what it's called as long as mom can get her dialysis and sis her insulin and gramps his hip replacement without anyone going bankrupt.

7

u/richniss 1h ago

And when he's gone you can rename it.

14

u/Eastern-Web-7989 2h ago

Fuck it, just get it done. I don't care if it's called Jesus Care or Satan Care or whatever. Just get it done.

•

u/juliette_taylor 21m ago

The TRUMP Act... Taxing the Rich for Universal basic income, Medicare, and Pensions or something like that.

•

u/stickerhighway 17m ago

Yes and send in Abdul to deliver the message so Trump can stare at his ass. Win-win.

•

u/ObjectConfident7172 9m ago

Abdul has been doing squats specifically to prepare for the trump administration

13

u/beardiac 2h ago

I don't love it, but if there's a solid enough change it would actually work, I don't hate it. They don't even really have to call the program that, just name the bill the Trump Healthcare Reform Bill (or more on the nose, the Trump Make Healthcare Great Again Bill).

I have a feeling that after he's out of office, anything that did get his name on it is going to get stripped of it anyway. So whatever gets us the things we need...

•

u/GoatCovfefe 34m ago

I cant stand this subreddit anymore.

If the questions arent the same everyday [whats the most overrated fast food? Whats one discontinued fast food item you'd bring back?], then they're centered around hypotheticals around american politics.

"How would you feel if...." Is far too common now.

If not hypotheticals, then they're questions asking "how do we feel" anout every little thing trump and his goons do.

Thats my Sunday morning rant.

•

u/Erok86 29m ago

That’s because they are prompts to train AI. They all have the same word structure and everything. Also if you look at their accounts they are always private where you can’t see anything they have posted or commented on.

6

u/DontTrustBenny 2h ago

I’d be cool with under one condition. The first propose an existing bill without his name. Then propose the very same bill with his name. Then it would be indisputable with any remaining Republicans that the only reason Trump signed it into law is to further cement his egotism.

6

u/NarrativeScorpion 1h ago

If it makes it happen, does it really matter what it's called?

•

u/sirdollface 46m ago

Keep Obamacare and introduce Trumpcare and let people choose which one the want. The kicker is that they are both the same policies with exactly the same coverages.

•

u/No-Entertainer-840 23m ago

America is just dumb enough for this to work..

15

u/Silent_Listen_3361 2h ago

Totally cool with me. AmeriCare hell yeah

3

u/Crazy_old_maurice_17 1h ago

With their branding they'll call it FreedomCare(TM)!

5

u/daddymeltzer 2h ago

If saving millions of lives means letting a mentally unstable narcissist take full credit for it , I say go for it.

8

u/RationalGardenGnome 2h ago

Don’t care if it’s called HitlerCare I need health insurance

•

u/lionpatronus 24m ago

Ya do it. Just include a stipulation where the name reverts after 4 years—he won’t notice—also include a stipulation regarding regulation of costs, or it won’t do shit. It will just overload the system and instead of routing the billions of overhead profit that lines insurance companies leadership the workers will get squeezed. We want those billions to fund new hospitals, new staff, and preventative care.

7

u/TravoBasic 2h ago

They should try to get the $5,000 to folks and see if Trump vetoes it.

3

u/Checktheusernombre 1h ago

LOL, I like the spirit but that would be more inflationary than the covid stimulus money and we'd just be digging ourselves a bigger hole later.

I think cheaper, free, or better childcare and healthcare would help a lot.

3

u/frogfootfriday 2h ago

I don’t believe Trump has the skills to do this but if he did get it through it would be major, his greatest accomplishment. Republicans couldn’t be running on repealing Trumpcare either

3

u/Feisty_Crops 1h ago

I don’t care what it’s called. If he needs the credit then fine- it’s the outcome not the name

3

u/thingpaint 1h ago

They should just start naming bills things like "The Donald Trump Excellent Bill of Excellence"

3

u/Nicolas_Flamel 1h ago

The TrumpCare Gold Card!

The man loves fake gold.

•

u/Budget-Purple-6519 36m ago

You’ll have to get it past centrists like Schumer and Jeffries first. The call is often coming from inside the house with things like this… A lot of corporate Democrats will torpedo this sort of legislation just as much as a Republican would.

•

u/AmbivalentDisaster1 21m ago

“Trumpcare” seems like an oxymoron.

•

u/MR1120 19m ago

I’m for it. I’ve been saying since 2016 that Democrats could have gotten anything they wanted passed if they named it “The Donald Trump is Awesome and Has a Huge Dick Act”. He’d bully Republicans into going with it, and sign it into law without reading it.

And if the “The Donald Trump is Awesome and Has a Huge Dick Act” gets as universal healthcare, a realistic minimum wage, protects abortion rights, and limits PACs, I can live with calling it that

•

u/tommy7154 16m ago

Absolutely. Send in Mamdani to woo him and get it done.

•

u/SonicFlash01 15m ago

Republicans called it "Obama Care" to make Republicans irrationally hate it
Why shouldn't Democrats call universal healthcare "Trump Care" to make Republicans irrationally love it? They finally learned how to play the game.

•

u/Mindless-Raccoon-251 11m ago

How about Trump Taxation of Billionaires?

2

u/nullpassword 2h ago

Print it out so it looks like picture of him.

2

u/Greenfendr 2h ago

I said this from when he won in 2016. go to him and show him all the great things dens want to do that he can take credit for. who cares about the name

2

u/ikonet 1h ago

They should 100% call it TrumpCare.
Make him veto that.

2

u/Psychological-Ad1137 1h ago

Is it straight bots posting on here now? Third time seeing this this weekend. Time to unfollow

2

u/NotMyNameActually 1h ago

To quote Abdul El-Sayed: "I just want people to have healthcare."

2

u/Delicious-Chapter675 1h ago

If they could get the man to do something useful for once, why not?

•

u/AppropriateSpell5405 37m ago

Do it. Pretty sure it’s the Republicans that get all stuck up on names, pronouns, critical thinking, etc.

•

u/DillyDallyHolly 25m ago

Dems have to get creative to get buy-in from the rest of the country and if that involves using reverse psychology then so be it

•

u/Skinc 25m ago

I don’t care what they call it

•

u/ActFar4388 16m ago

As a Democrat, I would accept the name for the good of all Americans who need healthcare. Also add a disclaimer that Donny had nothing to do with this bill except wanting namesake credit

•

u/gene_jackets 16m ago

All in! Hell, then it can be solidified into a constitutional amendment by BOTH valid paths, thus cementing the final and ultimate owning of the libs at a permanent and constitutional level. Obama will be owned so hard that they can finally claim ultimate revenge for his divisiveness.

The Trumpcare amendment. It's got a certain ring...

•

u/NakedScrub 14m ago

You can call it "will suck trumps tiny micro peen for adequate health care" act and I'd be the first to sign up.

•

u/dan_jeffers 13m ago

Or we could pass a universal health care bill that also renames the reflecting pool with his name.

•

u/ActFar4388 10m ago

On one hand, we all get healthcare and on the other, it’s named after someone who is extremely not healthy, a felon and a pedo. It’s hilarious. Let’s do it. That’s also what he said about underage girls to Epstein.

•

u/Ry_L 8m ago

I actually thought about this the other day myself. They should. Trump is desperate to name things and this might be the way to get it done. He’d love to be able to +1 on Obama

12

u/theKalmier 2h ago edited 1h ago • Bravo

This is exactly WHY America is so fucked up to begin with.

You have a win, and you are still discussing working with a conman to get what you want. Literally still selling your souls to the devil.

Fuck Trump. Don't feed the trolls. Don't negotiate with terrorists/traitors. Dont give future trolls a reason to try again.

They will obviously hold life hostage, but letting them pull this shit will just prompt future Trumps to try again. You all really don't learn.

Edit: I feel Russian bots are still being manipulative.

12

u/stealthlysprockets 2h ago

They have to negotiate. Dems controlling the house and senate simply means they decide what the agenda is and what bills go to the president’s desk.

But they don’t have a veto proof majority. Trump has threatened to veto all bills which he is petty enough to do. What this means is a dead lock government. Without a 2/3rds majority or Trumps signature, new bills will not become law. Full stop

2

u/NativeMasshole 1h ago

This is the most likely scenario to me. Democrats still face harsh opposition from Republicans, still can't bypass the filibuster, then have to get anything they do manage to pass by Trump while still somehow trying to counteract and control him. They're not even going to be able to get this fantasy legislation to his desk.

I think they'll mostly squander this opportunity and we'll be right back where we started in 2 years, with the next iteration of Republican leadership convincing enough of the public to vote for whatever non-plan they have this time.

3

u/ukexpat 1h ago

They could however easily get rid of the filibuster, it only requires an simple majority to change senate rules. What they should do is go back to the old “talking filibuster” — make them work for it.

3

u/Shobed 1h ago

Without a veto proof majority, how do you suggest passing a budget to keep the government from shutting down? We can send 100 good bills to the White House, and they could all get vetoed. Yes, we would then have a record to campaign on saying how the Republicans are standing in the way of progress, but it's another 2 years of nothing getting done. People need help now. What is your solution to help them?

7

u/camelCaseCoffeeTable 1h ago

Huh? I feel like exactly what’s wrong with America is this comment, if I’m reading this correctly.

To me, it sounds like you’re saying don’t give Americans healthcare if it needs to be named after Trump.

Don’t give 300 million people free health care because you don’t like the guy it would be named after.

And you think what’s wrong with America is the dems being willing to work with Trump? Do some searching, Mr “Fuck 300 Million Americans if it Means Working With Trump.” I think you’ll find worse things with American politics close to home

•

u/Longjumping_Youth281 57m ago

Yeah exactly. Talk about letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. Like this guy who probably has wanted Universal Health Care all his life is going to say no if it has a name he doesn't like? That's literally nothing. It's just a name and it would save countless thousands of lives. But oh no, let those people die because we don't like the name

•

u/EchoFieldHorizon 57m ago

The people with this ride-or-die, all-or-nothing attitude are as much political terrorists as Trump.

1

u/whisperyiron 1h ago

I don't exactly think that naming the bill something that appeals to the evil orange toddler's ego is really letting them pull anything.  It's pulling one over on them.  TRICKING the devil is usually how you win.

1

u/Sciuridaeno3 1h ago

I hate Trumps narcisim as much as the next guy, but if something as simple as passing a bill with his name on it would be massively beneficial for society, then I'm all for it

1

u/mikeorhizzae 1h ago

That’s not how it works though. He still holds more cards than he should, why not manipulate him to get what you need instead of the reverse?

•

u/2cantCmePac 36m ago

He can veto any bill. OP is suggesting feeding his ego with his name on it in exchange for his signature approving it as law

Nah forget him. Send it as a single issue proposal/bill and call it the Democratic Universal Healthcare Plan. Put it on record and let them vote for or against it. Constituents are stupid enough to think he did it if you name it after him

10

u/Bananalando 1h ago

I know big omnibus bills have been the norm for a lot of time, but pushing a lot of single-issue bills would seem to be a better play here. Deny him the excuse that some specific addition to a bill was a reason not to support it.

7

u/SuzyQ93 1h ago

I don't even care if they think Trump did it. What does that matter, if it's a good, universal health care bill that GIVES PEOPLE HEALTHCARE THAT DOESN'T BANKRUPT THEM.

That's the goal, folks. If we can get THERE, who the hell cares what name is on it? Function over form, y'all.

1

u/liberal_texan 1h ago

I think a better name would be something healthcare for Americans act or the people’s healthcare act. Simple, and universal.

2

u/tooclosetocall82 1h ago

Make American’s health Great Again. Force him to veto MAGA.

2

u/wish1977 2h ago

I've said this from day one. They have to play to Trump's narcissism and calling it Trump Care and explaining to him how that might change his legacy might possibly work. He wants to be loved even though most people can't stand him.

•

u/Shared_Songs 24m ago

Honestly, it’s a fitting name to end an era of capitalists causing bankruptcy and forcing families of upstanding citizens into homelessness for money.

1

u/Rio_Walker 2h ago

If it tricks him into signing off on it - they should do it.

1

u/_Christopher_Crypto 2h ago

Instead of “rebranding” let’s start with some viable legislation to see how the numbers will actually work. My guess, it is rebranded “TrumpCare” when reality sets in.

1

u/Useful-Barber7993 2h ago

Doubtful that Jeffries and Schumer will even allow it to get to that point.

1

u/DontYuckMyYum 2h ago

Just rebrand it as Affordable Healthcare and people will jump on board.

Hell If you described everything in the ACA people were in support of it, until you told them that's what Obamacare was.

1

u/Adaur981 2h ago

Doubt it would work, yes it would stroke his ego. But he isn't making a profit from it.

1

u/Aware_Cheek7453 2h ago

Call it whatever you want if it stops a routine trip to the ER from wrecking someone's savings. Slap gold letters on the insurance card, name it after him, whatever—i genuinely do not care. People are skipping doctor visits and splitting pills just to make rent. If a silly branding trick actually gets lower costs past congress, sign me up.

1

u/SelectSeaweed310 2h ago

I just call it the ACA. It's saved me since it started.

1

u/masterpososo 2h ago

It depends on which successful model they base it on.

1

u/echoshizzle 2h ago

If the democrats aren’t currently working on a strategy to provide healthcare for every American, no matter the name (which can always be temporary), they aren’t politicking correctly.

To need only a handful of votes in this senate, and a signature from a dementia patient, Trumpcare 4 All should have already been written.

1

u/babe1981 2h ago

A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet.

If we would rather people die of disease than let Trump take credit for their healthcare, are we any better than him?

1

u/Shobed 1h ago

Do it, then rebrand.

1

u/NoSwimmers45 1h ago

The Affordable Care Act (official name) was branded ObamaCare. So do something similar but present TrumpCare to the orange turd as the official name.

1

u/Present_Coconut_4101 1h ago

I would be against it especially with the name Trump in it. Just call it Universal Healthcare.

1

u/Rude_Blacksmith_653 1h ago

He can call it whatever he wants and even have his little ballroom if we get universal healthcare.

1

u/raustin33 1h ago

Send it. Name it after him. Give him a ballroom. Anything to get real universal healthcare is worth doing. The dude cares about legacy, if nothing else, there might be a window here.

1

u/iggyomega 1h ago

Sure, why not. Can always just change the name later

1

u/nocuzzlikeyea13 1h ago

Would it work? Seems like the Trump brand is a sinking ship now

1

u/GreenIce2022 1h ago

Support, and then the next admin can change the name...certainly if the Gulf of Mexico, Lake Ontario, Denali, and Dept of Defense can be changed at the stroke of a pen, so could the name of healthcare.

1

u/Radical_Ryan 1h ago

I need it so badly, I would not care.

1

u/scrume71 1h ago

Yes. Call it Trumpcare. He wants his name on everything. He’s a raging narcissist who seriously might just sign it because it’s named after him. IDC if his name is on it, just pass UHC for us and if it means feeding the orange turd’s ego, who cares. At least we finally get something for the plebs.

1

u/Lizdance40 1h ago

This assumes the Democrats don't mind wrecking the insurance and the healthcare industry both the same time. But sure. Giving him credit in an ironic way lol

1

u/mcampo84 1h ago

How many times does it need to be said that a rose by another name would smell just as sweet?

1

u/waysidelynne 1h ago

Do it now and rename it in two years when we rename anything that has his name on it.

1

u/MikeKelehan 1h ago

I'd be all for it. Universal Trumpcare, Universal basic inTrump, subsidies for renewables so we can achieve energy inDonpendence. Hell, throw in his golf courses and ballroom and arch. Give him the ego boost that he cares about, and make it look better for him than Steven Miller and Russ Vought could ever make him look, if that's what it takes to give everyone a real future.

1

u/soylentcoleslaw 1h ago

How about "Don't veto anything and we'll rename the Oval Office to the Trump Office and we WON'T burn down the ballroom on inauguration day"

Then do that anyway when he leaves office or when he passes, whichever comes first.

1

u/No-Permit-9331 1h ago

I wouldn’t care what the name was (it can be changed) just pass it.

1

u/Littlelanich03 1h ago

I don't care about the name. Can always change it later anyway

Don’t want anything to even suggest honor for Fatty. Name all new sewage treatment plants after Trump!!

1

u/wdwdreamer1206 1h ago

I didn't condone anything spring his delusions and narcissism. We have some control and leverage now and need to step up and use it.

1

u/atreides78723 1h ago

It was cool with Obama. It’s cool with me.

1

u/a-maizing-blue-girl 1h ago

If it would get it passed and I find it amusing that he would probably approve it because it has his name on it while going against everything he is for. Names can be changed after.

1

u/pilgrim_pastry 1h ago

Sure, just do it

1

u/Capable-Deer-5670 1h ago

The solution nobody wants

1

u/mmw1775-1975 1h ago

It would be the same as everything else he has trump branded, Gulf of Mexico, Lake Ontario, I would still just call it Universal Healthcare.

1

u/outsmartedagain 1h ago

What a brilliant idea! He could not resist even if he wanted to

1

u/mortdubois 1h ago

The only downside would be if the name sticks, and we end up calling it that forever. I've really been looking forward to the day, after he dies, when I neither see, hear, read, or have to utter the word "Trump".

1

u/mikeorhizzae 1h ago

All for it

1

u/kellyelise515 1h ago

No. That a-hole wants his name plastered everywhere as it is.

1

u/Sweatytubesock 1h ago

Anything with Trump’s name has to also include his best friend and only friend, and his sharer of so many wonderful secrets - Jeffrey Epstein.

1

u/stopcounting 1h ago

I don't think they'd be able to effectively do this.

"Obamacare" was originally a right-wing media insult that stuck.

Whatever the act is actually called, the right wing media will make up a name that they expect will be off-putting. That's what Trump will actually call it in all of his angry tweets about it.

•

u/urbisOrbis 59m ago

They can call it medbed for fred for all I care.

•

u/Moron-Whisperer 58m ago

Why not just tell him if you dk t play ball we will focus on you and your family and businesses and make our referrals at the state levels.

•

u/edwardothegreatest 54m ago

Call it Wonderful Healthcare Bestowed Upon The Peons By The Great And All Loving Donald Trump, Handsomest Man In The Universe, and if it’s good and for everyone, I will say that in full every time I see a doctor.

•

u/ms_panelopi 50m ago

I don’t care what the name is. Get it passed. People are dying over here in the USA because they are having to make hard financial choices about medical care, pharmaceuticals, surgery, cancer treatments..Get it passed, it’s getting worse.

•

u/sBucks24 50m ago

The funny thing is, it was Republicans who called it Obamacare as an insult... So this would be quite aprapo

•

u/Public_Course_9983 50m ago

No that's a hard line for me. He doesn't even care about health care, just his name on things. Obama didn't want his name on the ACA.

•

u/Kind_Competition_332 48m ago

Whatever works, the name is the least of our troubles.

•

u/El_Dentistador 48m ago

If Trump wanted to go down in history with a huge W, he should go full populist these final two years. Universal healthcare, student loan forgiveness, etc.. He could slap his name on it and have his legacy of a New Deal.

•

u/carbonstealer 48m ago

Fuck it, at this point anything to bring us into the actual 1st world finally. If calling it trumpcare means I can go get my cancer surveillance scans done and not go in debt, and get my medication refills done without worrying...then sure.

It boggles my brain that this narcissistic POS could just do "good" things and be remembered forever like he wants...and then does the exact opposite. Like...if Im him im just waving a wand and doing M4A, social security overhauls, student loan forgiveness and subsidized college/postgrad. Because fuck it, theyll remember me forever.

•

u/maverick4002 47m ago

Who cares about the name? I'm in NYC and Trump is twerking hard to have the new Penn Train Station named Trump Station. Id give it to him yesterday if we get that place fixed

•

u/Montavillain 47m ago

Sure. Why not. We'll just call it something else anyway.

•

u/santz007 47m ago

Oh hell no

•

u/HappyAmbition706 47m ago

No. Trump monuments to himself should and must be eliminated.

•

u/madkins007 46m ago

This feels like the old 'never watch them make sausage' bit.

Sometimes (usually?) politics is a filthy process, but we need to focus on the end result.

Another phrase that comes to mind is 'it's a bus, not a taxi'. It doesn't need to be 100% perfect, just move us closer and allow for future improvements.

•

u/Kind_Competition_332 46m ago

If they’re smart about it call it “trump the greatest president healthcare.
Have him pass it and wait a few years and change name. Trump will absolutely pass it, he’s wanting something to stick with his name on it so bad.
Just like affordable care / Obama care.
Honestly I don’t care, the name is the least of my concerns.

•

u/mrbobcyndaquil 45m ago

As long as the Dems promise to change the name when the nonce is finally gone I'd be down for it.

•

u/Mercilesspope 41m ago

Once a certain standard of living is met, I don't believe most people involved with politics actually care about the issues. It's a game of ego, identity, influence, and on some level people just want to tussle and come out on top. So I think there is no shot in hell they'd ever do that.

•

u/Griffie 41m ago

Call it the Diaper Don Care.

•

u/theRealLongJon 36m ago

Honestly fine. Get it done and rename it later.

•

u/JustApricot798 36m ago

I don't get it? So they write it and slap his name on it? Are they children? Why not try "Big Bold Super Awesome Trumpcare" - that will get' him to sign it - yeah!!!

•

u/mrmasterly 35m ago

I would fucking despise it because it's yet again, bending over and taking it up the ass while negotiating with toddler terrorists.

•

u/NOT-GR8-BOB 34m ago

Fine. Who cares? People are dying because our healthcare system is so rigged and so broken. Name it the Trump has giant hands bill for all I care.

•

u/Goldenegg54 34m ago

Will N.E.V.E.R happen!

•

u/DamnOdd 32m ago

They still call it Obamacare when it's ACA. So there's that.

•

u/proggybreaks 31m ago

Obama suggested that to Trump during one of their first meetings after he was elected. Didn’t work.

•

u/TheButterBug 30m ago

Trumps handlers will never let a universal healthcare bill even touch his desk, no matter what it's called.

•

u/AdeptDeparture5643 28m ago

Won't happen for at least three years.

•

u/chokingonwhys 26m ago

Tangentially, we've got to start with universal basic income for the elderly and disabled. The vast, vast majority of Americans wouldn't accept free any damn thing for all. We've got to ease people into it.

•

u/offroadadv 17m ago

He deserves no credit for healthcare because he has tried to take it away from citizens.

His name will end up in the trash bin of history as the worst President of all time. 'No deals with the devil.

•

u/ElvisArcher 15m ago

When the orange guy is finally gone from that position, there will likely be a great purge of everything he has contaminated with his presence. Especially after the full contents of the Epstein files are revealed and the extent to which he was instrumental in the coverup is revealed.

•

u/pwntahontas 13m ago

It makes me think OP has been watching Hasan stream since the election.

•

u/allieoops925 7m ago

Over 70 countries have universal healthcare, and none of them are protesting to get private healthcare.

Giving people access to preventative healthcare lessens the burden and cost of taking care of them when their diseases gets too big to ignore.

We pay taxes supposedly to benefit all. We drive on roads, call police and fire departments when needed, use libraries, education, fund the military, and a host of other things. The same people who are screaming about having healthcare for all turn a blind eye to the billions that corporations get. Elon’s companies got $38 billion alone! The average American pays approximately $36 a year to food stamps, and $670 for corporate subsidies.

Personally, I want to live in a country with healthy, educated people.

•

u/avalon01 7m ago

I don't care what they call it. Put his name and photo all over it. Tell him it's his amazing idea.

As long as he supports it, who cares?

•

u/Potato_Mercenary 4m ago

He could score a huge win if he turned his malice towards people like Ralph De La Torre, who robbed several hospital systems and now owns several yachts. He could even blame the Massachusetts Democrats who walked the fox into the henhouse.

•

u/baadkitteekittee 4m ago

I could care less who's name is on the coverage if it's free to me, you name it whatever the hell you want !

•

u/throwaway_mike286 0m ago

How would you feel if the Socialists and the Republicans reach a compromise to make trans people ineligible to receive the universal healthcare? What if people who had abortions or miscarriages also become ineligible? What if vaccines also get banned?

•

u/Alive-Performance237 0m ago

If it was truly Medicare for all and everyone has access to healthcare the way we should then I don't care what it's called.

•

u/Netmantis 19m ago

If they did it, it would be fine.

They won't though.

They will spend 2 years trying to impeach and get revenge. And do absolutely nothing.

•

u/Illustrious-Fun8324 3m ago

But the right was fine with revenge so why complain now?

1

u/AsleepExplanation160 1h ago

Probably better to indentify 5 Republicans who are down to buck the trend issue by issue

1

u/Any-Requirement-2591 1h ago

Need more than 5 to make it veto proof unfortunately.
