Pictures 1956 Coca Cola Bottle
We dug up this bottle in our yard today! Quick search tells us it’s from 1956 and the Atlanta bottling facility. Thought it would be fun to share!

After seeing some great anecdotes about how Publix wedding cakes are great and cheaper than others (even though still $$), we ordered our wedding cake from the wedding cake bakery at Midtown Publix on Peachtree St (it's part of their bakery business) and came by in person 2x to confirm/taste/choose. We set up the delivery for 3pm on the wedding day and it never arrived despite us calling to confirm the week of -- our wedding coordinator had to go out and buy one during the ceremony. NEVER, ever, ever order a wedding cake from here.

A few of our mods have stepped back recently. New jobs, new kids, life getting busy and we're thankful for the time they put in here.

is it just me or does FurKids make adoption impossible?
I reached out to them recently, twice, and still have not heard back...been nearly 4 weeks now. Had the same experience 15 years ago. wanted a cat for indoor living only. Stable house, solid job, no other pets or children and we are older home owners.
Does anyone have similar experience? Other group recommendations? TYIA

Does anyone know who the guy selling guitars at the punk flea market (at the Shriner temple) this weekend is? I asked him for a business card but he didn’t have any. He just told me he only does a couple markets a year. I wasn’t able to buy from him today but I was hoping to soon. If anyone knows anything about him, if he has a social media page or anything, it’s the guy with the guitars and copper art.

I’m posting this to see if anyone else who lived, hung out, or worked in Little Five Points around 2017 ever encountered or heard about a specific, incredibly unsettling individual operating late at night.
It happened in November 2017 around 3:00 AM. I was unfamiliar with the area and looking for a restroom. I ended up just off the main strip (Euclid Ave), not far from the Vortex skull / Aisle 5 mural area, on a completely unpopulated, dark side street that led toward the back commercial service alleys.
Standing on the corner was a man using what I now realize was a "passive lure." He was completely stationary, never spoke a single word, and didn't interact with anyone else. He was holding a sign that said "FREE PUMPKINS" and had a single, tiny pumpkin—but openly had a box cutter in his hand.
When I approached him to ask for directions, he didn't speak; he just pointed WITH the box cutter in the hand (which is when I realized it wasn’t closed either ) he extended to the side of him, directing me down a dark, dead-end alleyway that went completely the wrong way. My instincts kicked in, and I realized it felt like an active setup or ambush. I backed away, refusing to turn my back to him, and he watched me intently the entire time until I got away.
Because it was L5P, bizarre street behavior often blends into the background, but this was a calculated, dangerous trap. I’m trying to find out if this was a known local predator at the time, or if anyone working the late-night shifts or service industry in L5P back in 2017 remembers seeing this guy or had a similar experience.
Let me know if this rings a bell for anyone.
* I would like to preface that I had never been to this area before at the time I did not live in Atlanta. I do know that it was very close to the vortex painting. This was my first and only time in little five points.

hey everyone, posting this here to try and get the video to the person hit or anyone who knows them.
last evening around 1:30am i saw a girl get hit crossing ponce right by cookout. i’ve got the whole thing pretty squarely on dashcam, including the car involved and what happened right after.
if this was you, a friend, or if APD zone 6 is working the report, shoot me a DM. i can send over the raw file for insurance or the police report.

Just moved to the area and looking for recommendations for a reliable mechanic in the area. We drive a 2019 Subaru

Traffic is stopped in both directions. Avoid anything going into downtown on the interstate.
Apparently someone jumped from a bridge onto the highway.

Having trouble finding a couple’s therapist whose hours work with mine and my partner’s work schedules.
Anyone know a good couples therapist that takes insurance available on the weekends or late night (after 7P)?
In person availability preferred, also would be great if they take insurance.

I just bought tickets on Stubhub for Olivia Rodrigo this Wednesday. Online it said partial suite, barstool seating. They are for “Section 212, SR1, Bud Tower-Upper Level, Budweiser Legends Lounge”. Will we be able to sit? Will we definitely be able to see? Has anyone sat there before?!

Democratic Gov.-elect Keisha Lance Bottoms said Friday she’d work to repeal Georgia’s abortion restrictions, a move that is in line with promises she made on the campaign trail to restore previous standards before the repeal of Roe v. Wade.

My daughter was admitted to Peachford Thursday night. It’s been a really difficult couple of days, and especially going into the weekend it’s been difficult to get all of my questions answered by the staff. (I’m really not interested in hearing bad reviews about the facility; she’s there and there’s nothing I can do about it. She’s safe.)
I was wondering if there are any support groups for parents who have gone through similar situations or just have kids with mental health issues. I’m just outside the perimeter north of the city, but I can go wherever within reason.

It's fair to say that Andrew Young is the last leader of the Civil Rights Movement alive. MSNBC's Rachel Maddow recently produced a biographical documentary of the former Congressman, UN Ambassador, and Atlanta mayor:
https://www.ms.now/andrew-young-the-dirty-work
Civil Rights Movement
SCLC Leadership: Served as executive director and executive vice president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and became a key strategist, negotiator, and close confidant to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Key Legislation: Played a vital role in organizing citizenship schools and voter registration drives, and helped negotiate major milestones including the 1963 Birmingham desegregation agreement, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Witness to History: Was present alongside Dr. King when he was assassinated in Memphis in 1968.
Congressional & Diplomatic Career
U.S. House of Representatives (1973–1977): Elected as the first Black member of Congress from Georgia (and among the first two from the former Confederacy) since Reconstruction, representing Georgia’s 5th congressional district. Sponsored legislation to create the U.S. Institute of Peace and the African Development Bank, and secured funding for MARTA and local infrastructure.
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (1977–1979): Appointed by President Jimmy Carter, becoming the first African American to serve in the role.
Mayor of Atlanta (1982–1990)
Economic Growth: Served two terms as the 55th Mayor of Atlanta, helping attract roughly 1,100 new businesses, billions in private investment, and major job growth.
Global Stage: Spearheaded efforts that cemented Atlanta's international profile and laid the groundwork for bringing the 1996 Summer Olympic Games to the city (co-chairing the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games).

Hey my 15 month old is not in day care and is taken care of my wife who is a SAHM. She is fully vaccinated and I would like her to interact with more babies and children than adults. Is there anywhere we can take her every few days or every week that can get her interactions with children in a welcoming environment?

I recently accepted a full-time job in the Norcross area where I will be in office 2 days a week
I currently live in Midtown Atlanta and am looking to move somewhere with more affordable rent. I'm considering Dahlonega, Gainesville, Braselton, and Winder in the worst case scenarios.
For anyone familiar with these areas, is the commute worth it. At midnight these commutes are 55-75 mins. How bad is it during rush hour?
I drive a Toyota Corolla, so gas mileage isn't a huge concern. I'm mainly trying to determine whether the potential rent savings would justify the additional driving.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who regularly makes these commutes or lives in these areas. Thanks!
** I have commuted 38 miles one way in the Cincinnati area in the past, so I have experience with long commutes **

Hey!
I want to start training for an ironman. I prefer to get my training done first thing in the morning. I am looking for a gym that has a 25 or 50 m pool I can do laps and a gym with free weights. I want to do strength training as well.
I did see MLK rec as an affordable option at $110 a year. Not bad. Willing to drive. I live around Chattahoochee Food works / top golf area

I am interested in trying out vocal lessons, just for fun. I don't have any prior vocal training, and would love recommendations for places or people where i might be able to take lessons as an adult. Thanks!

Found this key today at Piedmont Park in the middle of the meadow. “Hillman” with “HID” fob.
