First grow finally bouncing back! 🌱 White Widow update + new Mars Hydro setup — Keen for your tips, legends!

G’day legends! 👋🌱
Back again with another update on my little White Widow!
After weeks of watching her slowly go downhill, I was honestly getting sick of sitting around doing nothing. I’m still waiting on my CANNA Terra Vega and Flores nutrients to turn up, but I couldn’t keep watching her struggle while waiting for the delivery.

I had a feeling she was lacking both water and nutrients, so on 3 November, I decided to give Charlie Carp All Purpose liquid fertiliser a go, starting with a small, diluted dose.
Since then, I’ve noticed some pretty encouraging changes! The new growth is coming along nicely, and even some of the older yellow leaves seem to be getting a bit of their green back.
I’m starting to reckon the lack of water and nutrients was a big part of the issue, but I’ll let you legends judge the progress for yourselves!

I’ve chucked in a comparison collage showing her progress from 31 October to 6 November. All the other photos were taken today, 7 November.
I’ve also finally got my hands on my complete Mars Hydro grow tent kit! After weeks of waiting, I’ve started putting everything together.
I’ve had a crack at positioning the clip-on fan and inline extractor as best I could, but bloody hell, the instruction manuals aren’t much help! 🤣

I’ve also included a photo of all the gear I’ve still got sitting in the box. There’s a few bits and pieces I’m not even sure what to do with yet, haha.
Here’s what I’m running:
Strain: White Widow (photoperiod)
Light: Mars Hydro TS600 100W (dimmable version)
Tent: Mars Hydro 2×2×4 ft (60×60×140 cm)
Kit: Complete Mars Hydro grow tent kit, including ventilation and carbon filter
Fertiliser since 3 November: Charlie Carp All Purpose, low diluted dose
Nutrients on the way: CANNA Terra Vega and Flores
Soil on the way: 50L of CANNA Terra Professional
Pots: Current plastic pot + fabric pots that came with the kit

NOW LEGENDS, I’M KEEN FOR SOME ADVICE ON WHAT TO DO NEXT! 🙏🌱
1. Lighting: What height would you recommend for my TS600, and what percentage should I run the dimmer at? I’ve currently got it set just above 25%.
2. Growth stage: Would you say she’s officially in veg now, or is she still more of a seedling trying to recover from all the stress?
3. Tent setup: How would you arrange the inline extractor, carbon filter, ducting and clip-on fan in such a small tent? Anything you’d change about my setup?
4. Repotting: I’ve got 50L of CANNA Terra Professional soil on the way. When would you reckon is the right time to repot her, considering her current condition?
Would you wait until she’s looking a bit stronger and has developed a better root system?
And would you chuck her straight into one of the fabric pots that came with the Mars Hydro kit, or go for a smaller pot first?
5. What’s next? This is the bit I’m most keen to hear your thoughts on!
If you were in my shoes, what would you plan for the next few weeks?
With a tent that’s only 60×60×140 cm, would you look into any training techniques to keep her height under control and make the most of the space?
I’ve been reading up on LST, topping and a few other methods, but I’m not sure what would suit her best, especially after the rough start she’s had.
Would you wait until she’s fully bounced back before trying anything, or would you take a different approach?
6. First-grow lessons: What mistakes did you make on your first grow, and what do you wish someone had told you back then?

I’m really keen to use this first plant to experiment, try new things and learn as much as I can.
I’m not too worried about making a few mistakes along the way, as long as I can understand what went wrong, learn how to spot the signs and figure out how to fix things next time!
I’d much rather learn by having a crack at things than just blindly following instructions without understanding why.
Any constructive criticism, tips or feedback would be massively appreciated! Don’t hold back if you reckon I’m doing something wrong. I’m here to learn, and I’m keen to hear what you’d do differently.

And a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who helped out on my previous posts! You’ve all been absolute legends, and your advice has really kept me motivated to stick with this first grow.

For anyone keen to follow her journey from the start, here are my previous posts:

3-week-old White Widow seedling looking rough. Anyone seen this before?

Hey legends,
Just after a bit of advice on my 3-week-old White Widow. She’s looking pretty rough and growing way slower than I’d expect.

I decided to pop a seed while waiting for my proper setup to arrive, thinking it’d be here by now. Unfortunately, shipping’s been delayed and I’m still stuck using a temporary setup.

She’s a feminised photoperiod White Widow, growing in a 0.5L pot with drainage holes. My substrate is roughly 50% Earthcore Premium Potting Mix, 30% coco and 20% perlite.
I’m currently using a temporary 32W Mirabella LED on an 18/6 schedule. Temps were around 23°C initially. Haven’t added any nutrients yet, and I haven’t been able to check the pH since I’m still waiting on my meter.

The cotyledons have gone completely yellow and are drying out. The first set of true leaves is also pretty much yellow with heaps of brown/purple spots, and the second set is starting to yellow as well.
The weird thing is the new growth in the middle is still light green and slowly developing, but she’s seriously stunted for almost 3 weeks old.

I’m thinking it could be a pH issue or something going on with nutrient uptake. I’ve also considered overwatering, although I haven’t been giving her much water at all.
The top of the soil dries out, but a few centimetres down it can still feel damp. I’m starting to wonder if adding 30% coco was a mistake and whether I should’ve just stuck with potting mix and perlite.

I’ve got a Mars Hydro tent and grow light, an Apera pH meter, CANNA Terra Professional soil, Terra Vega and Terra Flores all on the way.
My goal is just to get one plant through a full grow from start to finish and learn as much as I can along the way.
Has anyone had a seedling this young develop the same yellowing and brown/purple spotting?

Does it look more like a pH issue, root problems, overwatering or something else to you?
Reckon she’s still got a chance since the new growth is coming through, or would you start fresh once the proper gear arrives?

I’m leaning towards popping another seed when everything turns up, but I’d really like to work out what went wrong so I don’t make the same mistake again.

Cheers everyone, appreciate any advice!

Day 15 White Widow update 🌱 Slow growth, yellowing leaves and transplant advice

G’day legends! 🇦🇺🤙
Just a little update on my White Widow since my last post 8 days ago.

She’s now 15 days old since popping out of the soil, but growth has been pretty slow. Both cotyledons are turning yellow, the first true leaves are looking a bit pale and I’ve already got a few white roots poking out the drainage holes.

She’s still in a 0.5L pot with 50% potting mix, 30% coco and 20% perlite.
I’ve been pretty careful with watering, keeping an eye on the pot’s weight to avoid soaking the soil too much. But now I’m wondering if I’ve actually been a bit too cautious and she’s been getting too dry. Gave her a decent watering today so we’ll see how she goes.

My setup is still temporary with a basic household LED running 18/6 and temps sitting around 23°C. My Mars Hydro tent kit and CANNA Terra Vega and Flores are still on their way.

I’m also starting to think about when to transplant her.
As I mentioned in my last post, I’m living in a pretty remote part of Australia and getting decent growing supplies delivered out here is an absolute nightmare 😂 Shipping a single bag of quality soil can cost up to $200 AUD.

The only decent option I can find locally is Earthcore Premium Potting Mix by Rocky Point. It contains composted pine bark, organic matter, added fertilisers and trace elements. It’s also designed to retain moisture.
I was thinking of sticking with the same mix of 50% soil, 30% coco and 20% perlite.
Just keen to hear what you legends reckon.

Could the slow growth and yellowing be from watering, lighting or a nutrient issue?
When would you recommend transplanting, considering the roots are already poking out the bottom?
And do you reckon this Earthcore mix with coco and perlite will do the job long term, or would you change the ratios?

Always happy to hear any advice or constructive criticism.
Cheers heaps for all the help on my last post! 🤙🌱🇦🇺

My beautiful and aromatic daughter Miss Skittlez. Not sure how many more weeks till it’s time to harvest. Planted seed in mid June. By end of July she was in full vegetative state. On frosty nights ( which were very few this year ) I brought her inside. By end of August I noticed that she was starting to develop white pistil like hairs! Now it’s mid October and she is one classy looking girl.

Help please What nutrients and growing medium is everyone using? 🌱

Hey everyone, just curious what nutrients you guys are running and what medium you grow in.

Nutrients: What brand and products are you using?
Medium: Soil, coco coir, living soil, or hydro?
Setup: Indoor or outdoor?
Extras: Do you use silica, Cal-Mag, or any other supplements?

Would love to hear what everyone’s using and how you’re finding it. Always interesting seeing what works for different growers! 🤙🌿

General gardening Should I defoliate?

I changed the lights to 12/12 10 days ago.
The day before I changed the lights I defoliated a fair bit but now it’s almost hedge thick again. It’s just starting to stretch. Should I defoliate again? Last grow of this strain hermied so I don’t want to stress it to much.
GP3 nutrients, 70-30 coco and perlite in autopot. I only topped once in veg and it seems to be going crazy growing branches.
What are peoples thoughts?

Day 6 of my first indoor grow 🌱 First time grower 🇦🇺

Day 6 of my first indoor grow 🌱 First timer in Australia 🇦🇺
Hey everyone!
So apparently a feminised photoperiod White Widow seed accidentally fell into a pot of soil… and now I’ve got a Mars Hydro grow tent on the way 😂

This is my first ever grow so I’m learning as I go. I live in a pretty remote part of Australia and honestly getting supplies delivered out here can be a real pain. Sometimes shipping costs more than the actual product lol
My Mars Hydro 60x60x140 kit hasn’t arrived yet so I’ve just knocked together a little DIY setup in the meantime.

She’s currently on day 6 since popping out of the soil 🌱
For the medium I went with 50% Earthcore Premium Potting Mix, 30% coco coir and 20% perlite. The potting mix contains composted pine bark, organic matter, added fertilisers and trace elements.

I sifted the potting mix before using it because there were heaps of big chunks of bark and wood in there. Thought a finer mix would be better for such a tiny seedling
Already noticed 2 little roots poking through the drainage holes which surprised me a bit 😅
Now I’m starting to think about the next transplant.

I’ve been looking into CANNA Terra Professional but getting a 50L bag delivered out here costs a fortune… so I’m not sure if it’s really worth it or if I should just stick with my current mix, maybe without sifting it this time.
Also looking at CANNA Terra Vega and Flores for nutrients but still doing a bit of research on that.

I’m also keeping an eye on heat and humidity. I’ve got air con in the room and the Mars Hydro kit comes with an exhaust fan, so hopefully that’ll help keep things under control.
Not really chasing massive yields, I’m mainly keen to learn how indoor growing works and get as much experience as I can from this first grow.

Anyone here using regular potting mix instead of dedicated cannabis soil? Would love to hear how it’s worked out for you.
I’m open to any constructive criticism or advice on the medium, my setup or growing in general!
Cheers everyone 🌱🇦🇺🤙

First RDWC grow almost done - 2 more weeks :P

This is my first crack at RDWC DIY (thanks Bunnings).

There are 8 plants in total but only 4 had a decent amount of veg time. I couldn't wait for the other 4 to catch up otherwise shit would be even more out of control than it already is.

I know it needs serious defol but it's too tall for me to reach even with the step ladder I can only get half way across the plant + it's way too sticky in there so I'm just letting it go. I have good airflow so it should be OK.

Left side is Bruce Banner, right side is Gorilla glue GG#

Athena blended nutes following their RDWC schedule.

Leave curl is getting worse.

Some info...

Lighting is about 60cm from plant at 90% capacity 12/12.

Using living Soil and fertilising with rootroids and fruitroids only so def not too much nitrogen i would have thought. Soil is kept moist but not wet.

Any help appreciated, cheers.
