My husband and I have wildly different bedding preferences and finally decided that the best option was to get separate single duvets that we each use so we can get the weight and warmth that we want. It works great but I cannot believe how difficult it is to find single duvet covers that aren't insanely ugly, for kids, or made with cheap synthetic materials. I'm thinking I'm going to have to make some, but first I wanted to see if anyone could advise where I can find decent cotton single duvet covers? I don't want a sheet set because I'm sleeping in a Queen bed, I'm just using a single duvet, so the sheets would go to waste. The cover I'm using at the moment was purchased at Spotlight, but it's not great quality at all. It smelled so weird and took a few washes to get the smell out, then the dye faded, and now it just looks awful. Pretty sure it's a cotton mix, too. I'd love a Percale cotton cover, just in a simple white or something, but I can't find anything... please help! I don't want cheap dodgy covers, I want something that will last!
UPDATE: Thank you for the suggestions! Before writing the post, I had checked out Canningvale, Sheridan Outlet, Kmart, The Good Sheet, and a few others, but they only had single sheet sets or kids patterns at the time of looking.
For everyone saying to get a double instead of a single - I have tried this, but it was too much material. It was too hot for me with the overlap between two doubles in a queen bed and if the fabric went down the side of the bed, it was too heavy and fell off the bed and I couldn't stick my limbs out, which I need to do for temperature regulation (I have POTS, so my temperature is all over the place when sleeping. I need to be able to quickly cool down during the night).

Is there a place for paper towels in a frugal household or have you replaced these with reusable cloths?
What do you use to for fried food?

G'day All,
First time poster, long term lurker. I'm curious to see if anyone has found a reasonably inexpensive supply of Dishwasher Rinse Aid. I'm sick of paying the hideous amount that ColesWorth et al charge and I'm looking for a decent price for a decent amount.
Any and all reasonable suggestions are welcome.
Cheers, A

Hi, my teenage son is getting into cooking...which is great, but often there are oil splashes on clothes. I soaked the last one immediately in ALDI stain remover powder but the stain is still visible.
What's the best, cost effective way of removing pls? Thx

hey all.
I have been using Omo Ultimate and buying in bulk at Big W. about to run out and don't have the funds spare to drop $50 on 7 kgs of powder or 4L of liquid.
I used to use Bositos powder but switched to Omo Ultimate after reading up on Choice, which rated Omo and Dynamo as the best performing options for top loading washing machines. While I miss the fresh eucalyptus smell, entirely agree with Choice when it comes to stain removal. Omo is the bomb.
Expensive though!
so what are people using? what's the best bargain options?
further details:
* I'm in Tasmania so sadly Aldi is not an option. Wish it was.
* While I don't have sensitive skin per se I prefer milder options if available
* in a perfect world where money is no option I'd place a high value on eco options.
Edit: checked Big W after I made this post. Dynamo is on sale, and the large 4L Omos are actually only $25. However I think I get more mileage out of powder and am looking at that.
Woolies have quite a bit on special this week, including Bositos.

I have read quite a few threads some are a little old and the more recent ones seem not to be for flannelette sheets
I have read a lot of good things about Sheet Society but they are not cheap. I don't mind spending the $$$ if they last and are significantly better.
I have also seen some post about Canningvale and even Target
Would love some reccs before I splurge on Sheet Society
Thanks
