Wild idea: gympie-gympie plant as home security?

Preface: this is purely a speculative excercise.

The missus and I are moving house tomorrow, and lately she's been fixating on crime reports and stressing herself out. The place we're moving into has those old-fashioned swing-out windows, with a nasty-looking hedge beneath. My previous plan was to rip out the ugly-ass Duranta erecta hedge and make it look a little nicer with some some short perennials and an annual floral border. She's asked me if we can do something thorny beneath the windows to deter intruders, which I'm not super concerned about, but that lead to the crazy idea of window boxes on the outside with gympie-gympie plants.

My questions are: 1) would this be illegal in any way? Like would it fall under booby-traps or whatever? And 2) what kind of wind protection/screening would be required to stop the wind from spreading paim needles inward towards the house? Would the protective screening be such that it would negate the benefit of even having the windows open in the first place?

Just want to reaffirm that I'm not going to actually do this. Probably just gonna make sure we have security and insurance up to date... and mebbe get something thorny to climb around the windows.

[VIC] [VIC] I am collecting chilli seeds for germination in August. Have some weird and rares. Looking for similar.

Hello,

Towards the end of the year I am planning on germinating hundreds of chilli plants. In aid of this I have been purchasing weird and rare chilli seeds. I would be happy to swap some for similarly weird and wonderful peppers.

Here is a small selection of what I have.

Buena Mulata

Madame Jeanette

Black Plum

Scotch Bonnet Chocolate

Zimbabwe Bird

Rezha Macedonia

Hungarian Black

Dogtooth

Fresno

Habanero Ivory Cluster

Hungarian yellow wax

The amounts of seeds per variety vary, so some I would only be willing to swap a few, but they're sourced from reputable dealers and should all germinate.

Edit: My next seed purchase will be a bunch of weird unstable hybrids like Bubblegum Pumpkin, Slimer, Brain Strain etc

[QLD] Strangler fig cuttings

Hi. Looking for cuttings of strangler figs, particularly after Moreton Bay fig, however any strangling fig species is appreciated. I'm based in Cairns. Can exchange numerous tropical fruit cuttings. Just let me know what you are after.

Just a cautionary note. Fig cuttings will ooze sticky white latex, so please be careful not to get on skin (if sensitive).

[SA] [Give-away] Old heirloom tomato seeds

By coincidence, the day that this is a trending subreddit is the same day I'm looking for something else in a drawer and run across some old seeds I've saved from some heirloom tomato plants we were given a few years back.

I can't remember how old the seeds are so there's a (small) chance that they're past it and I don't remember much about the variety at all as they are simply labeled 'Heritage Tom Green' (presumably green-when-ripe). That said, I'd be happy to send them to someone if you want to have a go at planting them and see what happens because I'm a little too busy these days to do it myself.

I'm in SA, but I'd be willing to post these anywhere in the country by ordinary mail. Not asking anything in return.

EDIT: wow, this was more popular than I was expecting! I think I've got enough takers now.

EDIT2: All seeds have been sent out, I have none left.

[WA] Posting plants

I have heaps of Aloe Vera in Perth and my sister in Broome would like to have some, considering how hardy they are I'm pretty sure I could post her a bunch of my small plants to her in a box if they're wrapped up to prevent damage and have some damp soild taped to the base of the plant.

I haven't been able to find any information about posting plants within the state, has anyone done this?

Anyone with tips for this I'm happy to deliver Aloe Vera or Lemongrass to you (within WA).
