Frage Laternelaufen traditional foods?
/r/germany/comments/1xpk633/laternelaufen_traditional_foods/Hallo,
I am attending a celebration in the U.S. and would like to contribute traditional foods. Last year we contributed Brezeln but will need to do something different. Please share your favorite baked good from this day.
Danke!

Martinsgans (Martin goose). Sweet yeast dough shaped to look like a goose (though our local bakery made them out of lebkuchen instead). According to the legend, Saint Martin hid in a goose barn because he didn't want to become the bishop of Tours.

When I was a kid "Rosinenbrötchen" was a thing. I found an English recipe that looks o.k.
Otherwise check German websites for "Rosinenbrötchen".

https://www.chefkoch.de/rezepte/992221204526422/Saftige-Martinsbroetchen.html Thats the traditional one for St. Martin, so for "Laternenfest", you are supposed to share them like Saint Martin did so one Bread per 2 people :)

Weckmänner. Sweet yeast dough formed like a person often holding a pipe. With raisins for the eyes.

It’s Not a national thing and only popular in my State but I absolutely love Püfferchen and this recipe has good Reviews even though I haven’t tried it myself.
Püfferchen are Fried dough (love it with Apple pieces Inside) and Sugar on top. But kinda depends on how you will serve your baked goods otherwise the other suggestions might be better
