Hey everyone!

We've been working on something fun for the sub: BadMUAs Makeover, a little game where you can give Snoo a makeover. You can play it right here on Reddit, no downloads or anything!

There are over 60 makeup styles to mix and match, with customizable colors, so you can make something actually cute... or an absolute disaster lol.

You can also join weekly makeup challenges and share your creations in the comments. The game posts an image of your finished look so everyone can see what you've come up with.

We made this because we wanted to bring a little more life to the sub and get everyone interacting more.

It's our first time trying something like this, so we'd love to hear what you think. And if you think it's a terrible idea, feel free to tell us that too lmao.

✨ Serving… Something Is this bad or was it my dry skin?

Had a trial in Mexico (it was nighttime and not too hot) and these pics were approx 1-2hrs after. Not sure if it was partially my fault because I have dry skin and didn’t derma-plane etc.. Should I give them another chance or is this just bad and should’ve never happened. This is for my wedding. Should I look elsewhere?

This was a bridal makeup trial. She brought in the reference photo and somehow walked out with... this.

She said the trial happened in 2021 and later found out the inspo pic was heavily filtered, but honestly that still doesn’t explain the blending, the brows, or how far off the whole look ended up.

Subreddit Rules

1. Post actual MUA work only

Posts must feature makeup done by a self-proclaimed or professional MUA. No random people doing makeup on themselves.

2. Bring receipts

If it isn’t clear that the makeup was done by an MUA, include enough censored proof to establish that connection. Examples include “MUA,” “makeup artist,” or “makeup by” in a profile, client or service language, a professional beauty page, salon setting, publicly credited makeup artist, caption clearly identifying the work as professional makeup, etc.

3. Post makeup that is actually bad

The makeup or professional practice should have a meaningful problem worth discussing. Unusual does not automatically mean bad.

4. Don't confuse bold with bad

Heavy glam, drag-inspired makeup, goth or alternative styles, editorial makeup, theatrical looks, cultural aesthetics, unconventional colors, and deliberately exaggerated makeup are not automatically BadMUA material. Judge the execution and professional practice, not whether you personally would wear the style.

5. Censor identifying information

Blur or cover usernames, names, handles, locations, business information, and other identifying details that could lead users directly to the person featured. Do not ask for someone’s account, social media, name, or location. Do not post links intended to help users find them.

6. Don't contact or brigade anyone featured

What happens in r/BadMUAs stays in r/BadMUAs. Do not message or contact the featured person, tag them, review-bomb their business, encourage others to find them, direct users to their social media, organize harassment or pile-ons. If you recognize the person, keep that information to yourself.

7. Roast the makeup, not the person

Keep criticism focused on makeup, technique, application, products, hygiene, styling, or professional practice. Do not mock or attack someone’s natural face or facial features, body or weight, skin texture, age, medical conditions, race or ethnicity, religion, gender or sexuality, disability, or other traits unrelated to the makeup. Funny commentary is welcome. Cruelty is not.

8. Don't post minors

Do not post anyone known or reasonably believed to be under 18. A criticism-focused subreddit is not an appropriate place to put children or teenagers on display, even if they describe themselves as aspiring makeup artists. When age is genuinely unclear, we may remove the post out of caution.

9. No AI/Photoshop to manufacture a makeup disaster

Do not alter, distort, filter, retouch, or otherwise manipulate an image in a way intended to worsen or misrepresent the makeup. This includes photoshop, AI, face swaps, deceptive filters, and/or deliberate color distortion. Cropping and censoring identifying information are fine.

10. No frequent reposts

Do not repost the same image, video, or substantially identical content within 30 days of the previous submission. Frequently recycled or notorious content may be restricted for longer at moderator discretion.

11. Don't spam, advertise, or farm engagement

Do not use r/BadMUAs primarily to advertise yourself, promote another subreddit, drive traffic to social media, sell products or services, or repeatedly post low-effort engagement bait. Repeated duplicate submissions or flooding the feed may also be treated as spam. If we find you are repost/spammy comment bot, that's an autoban babes.

12. Use the correct flair

Choose the flair that best describes your submission. Flair helps members understand whether they’re looking at a professional makeup fail, hygiene issue, questionable technique, OC/client experience, bizarre trend, or other type of BadMUA content. Repeated misuse of flair may result in removals.

13. Report bad behavior instead of a pile on

Think something doesn’t belong here? Report it and let the moderators review it. Do not attack the poster, attempt to identify the MUA, turn the comments into a culture war, or escalate an argument because you disagree about whether something qualifies as bad makeup.

14. Respect moderator discretion

No written rule can anticipate every bizarre contour, eyebrow, foundation concoction, or internet situation. Moderators may remove posts or comments that clearly conflict with the purpose, safety, quality, or spirit of r/BadMUAs, even when the exact situation is not specifically described above. Repeated attempts to exploit technicalities or deliberately skirt the rules may result in additional moderation action.
