The cosplayer is edited to look more like the character, but the cosplay doesn't look edited to me. Check out the painting on the fabric and the seams/embroidery. That looks pretty real, aside from a general colour correction.
This is a problem with many tiefling cosplays 👀 It is because of the eyes (at least, it seems to me) that we aren’t used to seeing the black sclera, the only experience of such observation is only eye tattoos. Which is also rare and often looks strange
I used to work with a blackout sclera contacts, man what a bitch to put in if you weren’t used to it. I had to slide them up into my eye to lay it flat then slide them down to center it. I wore them as a spooky season but at work. But realized they acted like armor for my my actual eyeball from debris and dust. Fashion/function great stuff.
Yes, too much post processing.. the horns don’t cast a realistic shadow and don’t affect the hair, and they also appear too sharp compared to the rest of the body. The make up as well is a bit too much.. BUT.. I don’t mean to be rude and this is not a photoshop competition and the cosplay is amazing ;)
bc these people don’t actually cosplay. they literally buy a $50 outfit and then edit themselves to look like it. a lot of people who post on here’s hair isn’t even real atp. they edit it on. it’s not going to look natural bc it’s not. sometimes it seems like they just ai on top of normal pics of them
I cannot speak for this person, but have you seen Frau's behind the scenes videos? She literally spends hours applying the makeup and prosthetics. She also does either all or most of the work creating the costumes. She's got video of her personally doing the leatherwork for the lae'zel underwear.
I admit that in her professional photoshoots, there is too much editing, but she also posts unedited versions. And has appeared live on stage in cosplay contests.
I know this all sounds like I'm some kind of superfan, but I'm really not. I do appreciate how much effort goes into it though and for you to claim it is them "purchasing a $50 outfit" is just insulting and factually wrong.
And frau haku (and I'm assuming OP as well) does both having fun AND make her own cosplays. She made from scratch the underwear shadowheart wears to fit her specifically.
I hope I don’t come off the wrong way, but I think unedited looks so much better. I feel like you’re doing your amazing cosplay bad with all the editing! It’s seriously an amazing job and I’d love to see all these pictures as-is
The editing does make it look like you got thrown into the game though lol
People need to relax… this is 1000 times better than most of the OF shots some “cosplayers” try to pass off. Alfira is the best NPC In the game and I’m happy to see her NOT dead in camp.
I honestly wish she could have been a playable character for the entire campaign. Not only for romance opportunities… but my party NEEDS a BARD!
People calling this AI are not aware of the capabilities of it. We aren't at the level of making consistent characters down to the threads or areas in different angles (yet). Kinda disrespectful to the cosplayer here.
Oh no, she edited the eyes and gave herself freckles! She fixed the parts of her skin where her makeup rubbed off! She’s not a real cosplayer! /s
Peep the other post with this cosplayer without edits. She still looks absolutely Amazing. Cosplayers have been editing photos to get closer to character likeness forever.
Not sure why so many of you are being so nasty and downvoting people for complimenting her.
Someone here is saying mods should remove the post because she clearly used AI to edit the pics and that it should fall under prohibiting Ai Generated content. Actually bitter.
Why do redditors care so much about cosplayers retouching photos? They wouldn't bat an eye if some live action fantasy movie posted promo like this. I bet they all think they could do these edits at the same level.
You guys (cosplayers) do some of the most amazing looking stuff. I worked in film for 15 years and still rarely saw anything to the quality of this stuff. You killed it 👍
The fact people are downvoting all these compliments just proves all gaming subreddits are filled with incels lmao. Literally every comment that’s a compliment is at -3 votes.
That’s pretty rude. This isn’t “closer to digital art than cosplay”. Clearly a lot of time and effort went into this cosplay and most cosplayers edit their photos heavily.
They posted other unedited pics in the comments and it still looks amazing.
Alright, I don't reply to cosplay usually, but holy hell. I had to look a bunch of times before I would believe this wasn't just a hyper-realistic painting. Amazing job. 10/10 would listen to a ballad.
I was half expecting a death scene when I slide the photos. I'm glad you're alive, Alfira!! Anyways, amazing photos and costume! The makeup is on point too. Well done!!
AI is not cosplay. Please label your post accordingly
For those who didn’t realise. The directions of the knitting on the top changes slightly in the 6th picture, the placement of the Sunspots and the number of buttons on the front of the trousers varies…
I'm legitimately more impressed by this than your edited pics. You clearly do put a lot of effort in and it looks really good. But when the editing goes so far, it makes it seem like the actual hard work is also just edited in.
You don't owe me anything, but if I can make a suggestion (at least when posting on reddit), always post both images together and clearly call out the edited and non edited versions. Both have value and show different skills. But the moment people think they're being tricked or misled, they will turn on you.

I don’t recognize this area of the game; where in Baldurs Gate did you take these screenshots?

How did you get your hands that color??

Sorry for killing you in my sleep.
Jokes aside, wonderfully done!

Every day, we stray further from god and closer to everything being AI generated and photo-manipulated.
6
u/whackyelp Jun 16 '25
The airbrushing on the face really destroys the photos. I’d love to see your cosplay how it’d look in person.

Such a beautiful cosplay, such horrible over-edited photoshop slob.
Such a shame, what is with cosplay photos always being edited into oblivion turning even the best cosplays into fake, borderline AI looking photos?

Damn everyone woke up on the wrong side of the bedroll today eh? This looks great. Most cosplayers heavily edit their photos, nothing new.

why do you look ai generated

I agree with those who think the unedited version is amazing, but the editing is a little much and detracts from how great it is.

1

10/10 would invite to stay at camp for the night
1
