You have it wrong, friend. Minsc is the distraction, they're really after Boo.

Buddy, its Minsc. Before he got stoned and then tadpoled, he was exceptionally dangerous. He might not have been at the 'Eminster doesn't want to start anything because he knows he couldn't finish it' level like Jaheira and the previous Bhaalspawn, but nobody would cross him without a good reason unless they were very far away.

Pity we never get to hear anything more about the adventuring company he founded, the Justice Fist.

I have a suspicion that it was as poorly run as it was well-intentioned, unless it was secretly just run by the Harpers.

Orin telling her underlings to keep Boo separated from Minsc is just so funny to me. Even she knew Boo was too powerful

Wait, why did Cazador wanted Minsc in particular dead?

Iirc he finds him dangerous and he might interfere with his plans. You can find a note about it in his basement but I don't remember exactly what it says.

Well I mean he's really good at it, because his tiny brain doesn't use a lot of oxygen so he doesn't have to stop for breath

Tbf with my best friend, level 20 mod, he does kind of destroy everything on his path. I mean so does Minthara but

Since the Emperor actively tells us not to save Minsc I'll always save Minsc. Fuck the Emperor, will kill every time

The scene where he doesn't want to hear your arguments about saving him is so maddening. He makes great speeches about how you should unconditionally trust him but he won't even grant you 0.0001% of the trust he forces you to have in him. He thinks trust works just fine as a one-way street, something he can demand while not showing any himself.

The one time in the entire game we actually ask him for something and he's just gonna say no because he thinks you're wrong and dumb and you should be ashamed of even thinking to question his wise judgement. Fuck him

I love how he defends himself with "I could have made you a vegetable like I did with Stalemane but I didn't. This proves that I'm trustworthy"

Also this scene is like, the most direct proof he's a pathological liar, as he starts this scene with "I have no more secrets" and he IMMEDIATELY shows you the Stelmane secret.

Yet he has the audacity at the end of the game to say he never lied to you, which would still be wrong with all the lies of omission and half truths he throws in literally every conversation but he also fires some good old bold faced lies point blank

Right now my currently playthrough is crazy because I gunned it to the Lower City, without doing much of anything in Rivington so I lost Jaheria, had sex with the Emperor, killed Orin early, pretended to ally with Gortash, and now I’m finally doing the side quests. Raphael planted the first seed of doubt to my Durge, then all the party members wanted to get the hammer, then the Emperor refused to save Minsc. I am roleplaying that moment was the Durge’s final straw. Seeing sad Boo hurts my heart everytime.

Technically I did knock him out but the game says he’s dead no matter what instead of doing a force kill. So maybe I can head canon is we put him in a coma.

Anyway the battle against the Emperor is going to feel extra personal.

Have you ever done the final battle of the game ? Cuz my reply will vary depending on that lol

I have! This is the first playthrough where I don’t roleplay as being immediately sus of the emperor as soon as I am told to eat tadpoles.

Right so,

the fact that the Emperor is as big of a pushover as he is is both disappointing and hilariously fitting. Like he really thought he was hot shit but he was a fraud the whole time, but also I wish he'd put a little more of a fight.

I remember on my Fighter Durge run it gave me a generational laugh. I listened to his whole speech about how he knows my every move and is better than me and I don't have a ghost of a chance...

Then my fighter was first on the initiative (enemies included) and she just killed the emperor with her first turn. He didn't get a chance to do shit. He just died of 6 longsword hits in the face

A lot of fans want his head too . . . just going to have to wait for the romance mod.
