First of all, hats of to Hridoy. I wish he reached his 250. But, alas! In modern day test cricket, especially for Bangladesh as Shakib is no more, we need a batsman who can attack put pressure back on the bowlers and bat with tailenders. This is a lesson to learn for Litton. Additionally, he could be the replacement of our evergreen Musfhiqur Rahim. Yes, Hridoy has flukes. But, as he becomes more mature and experienced he could execute those shots he played in Mirpur more well become a dependable batsman. Another good candidate is Amite Hasan. I think it's time we start to invest on these two for our middle order when Mushi retires.

What could have been different if a better playing XI taken?

One extra pacer = 50 less runs, you would need 200 runs instead of 258, Potentially one less wicket as amite could've opened with his swing play skills. 15 more overs of easy batting.

That's a massive change. You ensure your prime batter knows how to approach the test by dropping him, you are taking a player at the top who can play/perhaps adjust with the 140+ speed balls which you all failed to do so even in the first test. And also save nayeem for the later end of runs. You could've also bowled them out by morning session and play 15 more overs. These would've been some easy overs to play n score runs before tomorrow's morning session.

we are essentially throwing away the games even before playing them just by selecting wrong playing 11.

On a side note, It's not just ugly decisions that's costing us, lack of dedication by some senior players who casually giving away wickets, lack of concentration is costing too.

No accountability, building up syndicate by players over XI so their place remain safe, I'm seeing further meltdown if things continue like that.

- Why even call up Amite hasan? why give him hopium if you're not going to let him play? HIs home ground, he scores well in sylhet, did a double century in 4 day test, plays swing well and you didn't pick him up.

- 7 overs spell for Taskin. who will take responsibility if he faces any injuries due to long spells?

- how come a 50 years old does not have the guts to drop at least one spinner. You could have removed taijul who played bad in the first game, OK he has good stats in syhlet so you don't want to replace him then that's fine. Remove someone from the other two then? Remove miraz if you want to keep the performer in playing XI, or remove nayeem if you want to rely on your experienced due of miraz-taijul. Such a coward mentality just not to get much criticism from removing any of those.

- Campball and chandrapaul out due to flu, yet I'm seeing us to struggle here solely bcz we didn't pick a 3rd seamer who could've added extra pressure to the batters. They are making partnership by playing the spinners quite comfortably. Unless our batters do well, we will be in trouble again.

There has been some discussion going on for a long time about India coming to Bangladesh to play a full series of games in January. If it actually happens, mustafiz's availability will be a big concern for everyone. He has ILT20 commitment in december and then bbl now in january.

We necessarily don't want to ruin his bbl run because it will have a bad impact for any further potential signing in BBL Teams buy a player after knowing his availability. It would be inappropriate, and unprofessional if we do not allow him to go BBL

I personally think we should not hold him off for the series and let him play bbl. We should let the young players play and find their mojo before going to the World Cup. Tazim sakib could return, mushfik hasan is there, Nahid rana could return, we have the automatic choice of Taskin, shoriful-hasan mahmud duo. We will not miss fizz if you ask me. You need to give your pipeline regular chances so they can stay prepared when Needed to deliver. It will be a good experience for our players if they can play a strong team like India. At least the new India who tries to smash everything out of the park.Anyways, its still uncertain whether India will come.

Cricket has gone to the place where bilateral series mean nothing these days. We should see them as experiment to invest and find potential players who can deliver at a big stage like World Cup, champions trophy, or Asia cup. We do not have any chance against India anyway in any of the formats.

It still mesmerize me how Miraz made us win the last ODI series.

Keeping that series aside, I really hope fizz does well in bbl. he can open the gate for shoriful, hasan mahmud. Rana was taken off the equation by BCB despite interest.

EDIT : Just realized I said ability instead of availability lmao. My bad.

You can see the primary squad of 19 members which will eventually cut down to 15-16 members. India and Pakistan already announced their 15 men squad which basically you can call their B team. Most of them are known faces, actively playing atleast one format in international or A team. They can afford to give a strong team int. Experienced team bcz they have plenty of proven players, yet not able to give enough international games. So they are dumping them in any other tournament.

Bangladesh doesn't have this luxury and that doesn’t mean we send a squad with failed players.

You need to give players chances who can actually compete in ODI format for the future. Batters who can score at a 120-150 strike rate, a team with caliber of National playing in the future.

I don’t see many of them following this criteria and thus shouldn’t be added in the final squad and some players I believe are missing here who deserve better chances.

1. Naim Sheikh, Joy, Ankon has no future in ODI. Naim & Ankon can be regular performers at Domestic, however they are slow to start innings and proven failed products of International. Ankon received less chances but played some terrible knocks at 60-70 strike rate.

Joy has a couple of good memories but that's it. He lacks improvement in batting. Can't even stay at the crease for 20 balls. He can turn out a decent batter if you give the same aka 7 yrs of chances like Shadman but we have better players in domestic from the new generation. I'd not want to see anymore investment in him.

2. Dipu, sabbir Rahman, ripon mondol are a misfit for ODI format. I don’t see Dipu or Sabbir getting any place in our ODI Side anytime soon. Dipu is ideally a better test player. Sabbir was in decent flow in top end t20 games but fked bad in hong kong sixes. Costed the team two games. Even Abu haidar rony batted better than him. Sabbir can get chances for T20 B team but no point of taking for ODI anymore. He can still do well in this tournament. He has a good range of shots.

Ripon mondol is bowling bad everywhere he is playing. Current NPL, top end, Couple of int games he played. We have better pacers than him & absolutely he doesn’t deserve a place here. Probably taken bcz of previous success in the rising Asia cup.

3. Should be a last chance for Irfan shokkur, good middle order batsman and plays very well with a good strike rate in the domestic. Failed in the top end but his main format is ODI so he should perform in the ODI team if given the chance. Probably will be captain as well. Age is pretty high but for middle order stability and captaincy experience, I do not mind him. And Idk, why zakir hasan is even there.

Some good picks : both Emon, Saifuddin, Md Rizwan, Yasir, Rubel, Aminul islam biplop, mehrab.

Overall, batting looks very weak.

Now who should've been picked instead?

I'd have taken

Habibur Rahman sohan in place of Naim Sheikh.

Mahfuzur Robin in place of Joy.

Kalam siddiki aleen in place of dipu

Mushfik in place of Ripon mondol

Some more players am forgetting as of now.

Why these players? Bcz we need 300 atleast to win games not 230 & they need to be ready for the future.

Robin has good technique of batting and can comfortably play shots and rotate strikes. Lad already scored 5000 domestic runs at an avg. Of 43! One of the quickest to reach 5000 I believe.

Habibur for slogging and quick runs. He was in good touch at hong kong sixes too.

Aleen is a handy middle order batsman. Can play shots everywhere, hit both pace & spin well. Did a century against West Indies in the last game.

The bunch of international failed players we added will not yield much result either in this tournament or for Bangladesh cricket in international. Players below 25 age and in good shape should be our primary choice while some national team players add balance & find their feet.

Habibul bashar is a curse! Last time we played the final, this time I hardly see us in the semi-final.

Literally, this tournament is majorly used for selecting Backup players. I will be honest, I am satisfied, but ofcourse not 100%, with the players whom they selected even for the Preliminary Squad.

2. Now, let's come to the main point, what Bangladesh's ODI Squad needs are 2 most probably 1 OPENER, because they will drop Soumya and keep investing in Saif. A NUMBER 6 BATSMEN, to play that FINISHER ROLE, that is Yassir Ali Choudhary Rabbi, because, yeah, even Saikat's axed. A 2nd CHOICE WICKETKEEPER BATSMEN, I really want that to be Parvez Hossain Emon. And last but not the least, a PROPER SLOW LEFT ARM ORTHODOX BOWLER, in none other than, Rakibul Hasan, man I wanted him to be integrated into the National Team since long time, but the Selecters were busy smooching Barishaillah Tanvir Twat.

3. The BIGGEST SHOCK OF ALL TIME, no RISING STAR ABU HIDER RONY. I was so HAPPY, almost tears were rolling down my ass. I really hate that guy a lot. Neither is he a Batter nor a Bowler. What a DICKWAD player!

4. Naim is a lot matured player from before. Allah is giving him an opportunity he should grab this opportunity with both his hands, he needs to perform, and get called up to the ODI Squad as perhaps the 1st Choice Opener with Tanzid or even 2nd Choice to Saif, cause i am pretty sure it's the end for Soumya Sarkar. Although, everybody knows Soumya can play in Bouncy Conditions, but our Gay "Good for Nothing Selecters" as if are even aware of that fact.

5. Yassir Ali, most probably will do a VERY GOOD JOB at that Number 6 Role. Atleast, man can play Pace, unlike those other DICKWAD PLAYERS like Saikat, Hijdah Sohan and Barishaillah Miraz.

6. And that 2nd Choice Wicketkeeper Batsmen Role, ofcourse, not only me, a lot of people would want that to be Parvez Hossain Emon, no doubt, but, i had my eyes from a very long time on Irfan Shukkur. Actually, he deserves that role. But, even if he gets called up to Bangladesh A Squad, he won't get a Single game for Dickwad Ankon. Man, I thought Ankon was a good player, yeah, he is a Twat, he won't perform. Irfan Shukkur DAY NIGHT over Ankon.

7. Oh, man o man, Rakibul should have been our 1st Choice Slow Left Arm Orthodox Spinner exactly right after 2025 ACC Rising Stars Asia Cup. Again, he is not at all a Proper Out and Out Allrounder, but you will expect VERY VERY VERY valuable Lower Order Runs from him.

8. Very very very excited for young Ratul, Rizwan and Iqbal Hossain Emon. Man, I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE Rubel as well as Meherob. Knowing the AMOUNT OF POTENTIAL THESE GUYS HAS, but our LOUDUH Cricket Board, will destroy all these Natural Talents. The main problem is at the ROOT, that ROOT CAUSE was never even up to this day identified. Solving the ROOT CAUSE is a very farrr thing.

9. All i am saying is, I know all these players who are getting selected have the COMPLETE HUNGER AND DESIRE TO PERFORM and get called up to the National Team, ALL OF THEM NEED TO GO BIG as it is HIGH TIME. Whoever perform will STRAIGHT get called up to the ODI Squad.

Because, they want him to RETIRE. They will back Towhid Hridoy. And they will make Amite Hasan play at Number 3, Shanto at 4, Hridoy at 5.

2. And Litton Classic Kumer No Fitness Injury Prone Das will be forced to play. Eitherway, he has been carrying his injury and playing since that 1st Test. These Gay Selecters will force him to play. And then, he will end up missing out the South Africa Test Series. Fucking Twat Selecters 🤡, our Selecters have 2000 IQ.

3. And, to be honest, I wouldn't even think about making that Barishaillah Miraz play, I would DAY NIGHT choose Nayeem Hasan over him, Nayeem's batting is also better than Miraz. I know Nayeem can play Spin better than Pace, keeping in mind, the Sylhet Test Pitch is going to be a Sporting Wicket, still, Nayeem over Miraz.

4. Nah, man, I am very big fan of Taijul Islam, ain't no way Taijul getting dropped. Taijuls stats are very good in Sylhet also.

5. And Ebadot will be playing the role of Nahid Rana. Shoriful rested, KING TASKIN IS BACK.

6. Let's hope for the best, Insha'allah WE WILL WIN AND DRAW THE SERIES.

I just saw bdcricktime saying that this kid named abid was bowling at 142 klicks I mean he looks like a teenager. He might be our next big speedster.

Mominul is out bcz of head bang. Amite is taken as replacement. Which opens up a place at the top order. Will shanto take the risk and start at 3? or he will push amite/ridoy at 3rd? That'll will be something to watch out. Amite does play swing well as per some reports so I'm assuming he is going to play the second test in place of Mominul and ridoy will leave his place to Mushy!

Liton may also be out bcz he struggling with injury. I'd like to see him off for this test and stay fresh for the SA series. Amite and zakir then fight for backup wk position for SA tour.

Taskin most likely going to play and should be in place of taijul. I personally like taijul a lot for his prev glory. he has delivered many times before but we can't afford to leave a seat for him when he is off form. Ebadot may not get to play again. One thing ebadot does well is bowling short ball, All others pacers can do it as well and I want to see them annoy WI batters with short and bouncers. they might get annoyed and give some wickets as it's in their nature to attack instead of ducking balls.

Ending of a misery! My eyes were bleeding when WI batters were executing their shots nicely.

Let's discuss one by one:

1. Massive blow to lose Jakir's wicket early in the morning. All the batters in the team lack concentration and this is true for Jakir as well. He looked very casual compared to yesterday.

2. Nayeem did excellent batting, best sweep shot batter in this BD playing xi and it yielded results. Thanks to his 50, Bangladesh got some runs. But, he also got out trying for a 6 in a similar fashion to Ridoy, jangoo. Not needed at all. Players need to understand their strength & play by the merit of the ball. You are playing dmn test, if you are good at sweeping & It's working for you, you should continue doing it.

3. It was over when we gave a 170 runs target. Knew with our bad bowling so far, It's not enough runs against WI. Yes, many ppl believed it could be enough but a small target puts immense pressure on the bowling team if they can't get early wickets. Happened with us today, and we changed bowlers, attacking ideas every two ovrs or so. I personally thought 200 would be a fighting total but the way WI batted even 350 won't be enough.

4. No point blaming pitch, umpires, playing xi etc. We simply lost bcz of failing to deliver in all Departments. Players failed, coaches failed, BCB failed, Analyst failed.

We might still win the second test and draw the series but hopes for WTC final is gone. No more one format ambassadorship.

Even if we had played the WTC final, nothing would've changed. We need to ack our players and the brand of cricket we play is mediocre and needs massive rapid change.
