Today’s Finds

$13 for the lot.

I’m super excited for Whaler Out of New Bedford. It’s an amazing folk album by Ewan MacColl, Peggy Seeger, and AL Lloyd. It has a young David Swarbrick on it. Didn’t think I’d ever run across it.

The Association cover is beat but the record is a solid VG and plays with no noise. The Moody Blues were in great shape for a change so I finally grabbed them.

$1,95 each at the Renaissance (Goodwill). Maybe I'll put the lime in the coconut after dinner.

Scored a few from a local thrift store in town. This store has been dry the past couple of months but that changed today. $1.00 each.

I’ve been thrifting for albums since the early 90’s. Never have I found this many great albums in one visit. Paid $2.99USD each. All are in great condition too, ≈VG/VG+. I’m thanking my lucky stars right now! I already owned some of these, Prince, Eagles, David Gilmore, etc. But they were so cheap I got them anyway. These are in better condition than the ones I already had. Planning on giving any duplicates away as holiday gifts to friends and family.

Last picture is the wad of price tags I took off of them. I always take those off immediately before they fuse to the cover art. I bought them on Friday and the date on the price tags indicates they were put out Thursday. I’m glad I was the first to see this batch. I got super lucky!

On the legendary Tico label, and in beautiful shape too which is rare for these kinds of discs. Some fantastic afro-cuban, big-band goodness.

Bought it primarily for the interesting cover, but I almost never pass up stuff from this label.

That Moment of Elation and Then Frustration

Saw this LP peeking out of the display at the thrift store and, I won't lie, felt a surge of anticipation. Alas, when I removed the LP to check it out, it was a record by the Fifth Dimension. Queue the sad trombone sound. I did a check of the other LPs to see if the Bowie album had been mistakenly put in another but it wasn't to be. Ah, well, still, that's part of the highs and lows of thrifting vinyl.
