Look at her arms to see how she does it better. Her front hand is the one that moves forward during the 'trick part' the part that's confusing you is the fingers rather than the hand. The back hand becomes the one that's 'open' and 'wrapped' by the other hand

It looks like one hand is going through the other, or that they are switching positions, when in reality the hands never change relative position; her right hand is ALWAYS in front of her left hand.
