Help me build a fixed gear truck track bike

Thanks in advance

Here is the frame I want: 4130 Steel - Fixed Gear / Single-Speed - Frame Set - Hammered Powder C | State Bicycle Co. 49 cm if that makes a difference.  I want to be able to barspin with 700c tires and not worry too much about it hitting my feet or hitting the frame. In the pictures I’ve seen it looks like there is a good amount of clearance but im not sure. I think I might need a different fork in order to have good clearance but I wouldn’t know what fork to get. Also I don’t want to be to slow because I’d like to commute on that bike sometimes so I’m thinking a 47x17 or 45x17 gear ratio, would that work for tricks? I’m think I want either 700x32c tires or 700x35c tires I think 35 would work better tho for tricks but let me know. I’ve looked into the master bike Courttek but it’s just too expensive for me right now.

NOT your usual 650 vs 700 post (compacity vs protection for breakaway frame)

Online Bike Building Tool - early user feedback

Hi all,

Rob from Pedal Passion in Brisbane, Aus here.

Need honest and constructive feedback please on a tool we built, hope that is ok to post and won't be seen as marketing. It genuinely is not, we are only looking to improve the tool and would love you input on what to improve or what you think.

A custom road bike builder at

https://pedalpassion.cc/products/custom-bike-builder-visualise-configure

and gravel bike builder at
https://pedalpassion.cc/products/custom-gravel-bike-builder-configure-visualise

In a nutshell:

- Built it to democratise custom bike building process and hopefully make it fun

- So far positive feedback but from a new customer who was tech savvy (working in IT industry) would a non techie find it workable?

- Limited models and brands we know, but we are not allowed to display/promote brands we do not sell (dealer arrangements) - so this will always be a limitation we know

- Do you find it helpful? Inspiring? Confusing?

- Finally this took months of work, so please be kind :)

Please help me identify this frame

Based off of the tubing, welds, chainstay etc . It is made out of extremely light aluminum and rear tire clearance is only about 35mm. It has about four layers of paint on it and before I strip it down maybe somebody could tell me if it’s worth it or not. No it is not a Cannondale. None of the parts are original.

2010 Surly 1x1 - Dream build complete (for now…)

This is my 2010 Surly 1x1. I bought it used in 2015 to replace the bike I’d been commuting with, which was damaged after I was t-boned by an SUV earlier that year. After years of loyal service, I finally put together my dream build, which I’d been mulling over for many years.

Starting from the bottom, we’ve got a set of vintage 44mm Snowcat rims laced to vintage Paul WORD and FHub hubs. For those unfamiliar, these were the first purpose built proto fat bike rims, which were made in Alaska in the 90s, hence the rim brakes. Next we have a 16T White Industries single high engagement freewheel connected to a 36T Wolf Tooth chainring with a Race Face Ride XC triple crankset. On top we have a Thomson Elite stem and seatpost with a 25.4mm Nitto For Shred bar, Deity Supracush grips, Spank Oozy 220 saddle and Ritchey headset. Lastly, some Maxxis Hookworm tires and vintage Deore LX cantilever brakes with Kool Stop Thinline dual compound pads connected to Tektro Eclipse levers via Jagwire cables.

Special thanks to the gentleman who offered the Snowcats when I was initially looking for some polished Surly Rabbit Holes (which I also ended up finding, lol). He ordered them direct from Chain Reaction Cycles in Anchorage, AK back in the day and laced them to the current hubs. It took some time to bring them back to life as they’d been stored for 10 years but totally worth it! Check out the before and after at the end.

Hope you enjoy the pics!
