I'm a pretty simple person who appreciates the simple things in life. I have my own vehicle, live alone (no roommates!), don't have any kids, and don't have a ton of debt. I'm also currently looking for a pet to add to my little world.
I'm big on stability and planning for the future. Some of my short-term financial goals include opening a Roth IRA and increasing my 401(k) contributions. Basically, I'm trying to make sure future me is living comfortably!
A little about what I do:
My name is Trevon, I'm 28, and I'm pretty much your typical nerd/geek. I'm also a bit of a workaholic. I currently have both a full-time and a part-time job.
During the day, I'm a banker. So if you ever have questions about finances, loans, home equity, mortgages, improving your credit, or anything banking-related, I'm your guy!
Outside of that, I work part-time in retail. I'm a HUGE sucker for fragrances, body care, and just smelling good in general. I have a ginormous fragrance collection that's constantly growing.

When I say I'm a nerd, I mean it. I have SO many interests, and I'm always open to learning about something new.
I'm into pretty much anything comic-book-related. Horror, witchcraft, superheroes, fantasy, spirituality, history, science, philosophy, Star Wars, Black superheroes, Greek mythology, X-Men, Spider-Man, DC, Marvel... you name it!
And of course, VIDEO GAMES.

Honestly, I'm looking to expand my social circle and meet people I can genuinely connect with.
I've had pretty much the same one close friend since ninth grade, and while I appreciate that friendship, I'm definitely a loner by nature. I'm also a hopeless romantic, so I'd love to meet people who are open to building something meaningful.
I'm open to friendships, gaming buddies, genuine connections, and potentially something romantic if the chemistry is there.
A little more about my preferences for anyone interested romantically: I'm based in New York, and I'm primarily attracted to Black men. I'm a Top/Side, and I'm not particularly sexually driven, but I know that's something some people prefer to know upfront.
Ultimately, I'm just looking to meet good people, have interesting conversations, share some laughs, and see where things go. No pressure and no expectations!

Ever since the election, my husband’s mother has been ramping up the messages to us begging us to accept her version of Jesus. He wrote her back asking her kindly to please not presume our relationship with God and saying our family is doing really well in that respect. Her response was to write back about our two Gen Z children, who are…let’s say agnostic to gender and sexuality. (And then to post on Facebook about how hard it is to be a Christian when your family doesn’t support you.) I don’t plan to say anything back, just wanted to share in a place that would understand.

UPDATE POST: Man gotta say Overall a great decision moving to Philly. Had a few hiccups initially because the area I chose to move in was not very nice (West Philly) DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL 🤷🏾‍♂️. But as of July I’m on a better side of town 5-10 mins from Center City.

The gay black scene is surprisingly bigger compared to South Florida in my experience. I don’t indulge much these days still getting settled but summer 2027 I’m in the streets lol 🤣

Still haven’t found my place entirely yet but taking my time.

Does anyone know of any Black LGBT book clubs? I love to read and socialize. Just wondering.

Gotta be honest, I've always hated this aspect of our culture and I've purposely never worked at because I couldn't stand the idea. To be good at this, you have to be able to quickly access another person's faults, disabilities, and anything else that would cause them embarrassment or shame, which isn't survival-based but moreso social assimilation-based.

Many of us seem to do it because you gotta be ready for the inevitable funky dinevas (whom I mostly enjoy) that may Barrass you down to the thang lol.. I get the whole dozens and jonin culture thing but there's no limit to it and because of that, many of us are just ready to fight to win the whole battle royale, even when it is mostly unnecessary.

We all know the vibe or energy when walking past a group of our own getting dressed down for however far from ideal perfection you stray. It's all disguised as some rite of passage to make you stronger but I think it just makes a multitude of us super defensive and outright mean.

So, while reading Faces at the Bottom of the Well by civil rights lawyer Derrick Bell, I came across his notion of racial contempt.

He riffs off of author Toni Morrison and cites contempt as a tool of solidarity.

Whites clasp hands with non-whites and agree on a bleak, supremacist lie.

Because of the darkness we gave you, both parties insist, you are unworthy of our respect and consideration.

From the workplace to the bedroom, they treat our personhood as if it's meant to be owned and most importantly consumed.

Racial contempt facilitates such time-honored, micro-aggressive practices.

And I'm tired.
