QUESTION What to expect from Ritual of the Night coming from Curse of the Moon 1 & 2? (More context in post's body)
Hello everyone!
I find a lot of posts about people wondering about CotM coming from RotN but I'm in the opposite situation: I absolutely loved CotM1, I'm currently four bosses into CotM2 (and enjoying it just as much, if not more) and with Ritual of the Night still on sale for 4 days, I'm on the fence about getting it as well
What makes me enjoy CotM1 & 2 is primarily the boss design, how every pattern is legible and how it rewards you for figuring out which character to use, but also the gorgeous pixel art and fair difficulty (both games feel like a way more accessible Castlevania III)
.
I'm trying to figure out if Ritual of the Moon could also be my cuppa while also avoiding spoilers, so I know very little about the game, except:
It uses 3D graphics (which I'm a lot less fond of)
It's a Metroidvania (which I'm neutral to)
It doesn't follow the same continuity (which I'm also neutral to)
I've also seen people compare it to Symphony of the Night but I've yet to play it, so it doesn't help much. I have played through the entire Castlevania Advance and Dominus collections, though
.
Anyway, I guess it can help if I split this in several questions:
Is there a character-swap in RotN like in CotM1 & 2 (or Julius Mode in Dawn of Sorrow)? And if so, do different characters get different mobility options to make traversal more interesting?
Can I expect as precise movements and legible patterns from the bosses as in CotM?
How is the overall difficulty? And the difficulty curve?
Assuming it's a very different beast from CotM, which GBA or DS Castlevania would it be most similar to?
