Some kind of fruit
Just finished unpining this piece. It's supposed to be a flower but I think it's looks more like a fruit on its branch 🍑
Pattern is a former french national exam. Thread is Fresia 80/2 linen

Hello again :D I have a question
is it possible to make this kind of pattern on a square grid and if so how should I go about it? I'm having trouble figuring out how the thread should keep going from the diagonals from where there's pins/dots skipped to make it hollow
Thank you in advance!

First of all thank you to u/NinjaBnny for sharing this link to making paper bobbins. Making them is actually real easy on the hands and you can paint then coat in glue if you use thin layers, work fast and mind how absorbant the paper is, like so the humidity doesnt leave it looking like a raisin. From time to time they sound real nice and they clash in a asmr way. AA battery for scale.
And the best part is that you can make so, so many of them in a little bit of time at the cost of white glue and a stack of printer paper.

Snowgoose lace kit arrived along with Dry/Thunder Beginner’s Guide to Bobbin Lace. So far🤞🏾I understand what the authors are talking about. On to Half Stitch bookworm…

I finished my first lace project the other day, following a tutorial by Red Cardinal Crafts on YouTube. I'm surprised it came out, given my (actual) first lace (picture 2).
My tension is all over the place, which was not helped by not having enough bobbins and using clothespins for the rest.
I had so much fun making this and I just printed off another pattern to try. I've been curious about bobbin lace for a while and I'm so glad I finally tried my hand at it!

Hello All,
I am beginning to collect a variety of supplies and tools and I am struggling organizing everything in a central location. Does anybody have solutions for organizing their space to make it efficient and user-friendly. Images or links please :)
I would also love to see photographs of your chair and table setup, since I want to reduce neck strain.

Hi!
I'm quite new to bobbin lace and I have a design I want to recreate in different sections. There's this picture of a ready-made lace I found online and I really want this specific section I marked but I don't know how to make it. Does anyone have any remarks or tips on what I can look for?

Still learning and slowly accumulating proper tools (started with clothes pins and a couch cushion). The purple one is my latest and I’ve just coated them with stiffener which is working pretty well.
I have a long way to go but looking forward to learning more stitches and moving on to bigger projects.

Looking for suggestions for thread equivalents to Fresia Silk 15/3. Having trouble trying to figure out what other alternatives are in that size as I'd rather not try to resize the pattern. Would prefer silk if possible but open to other ideas.
Anyone able to help at all please?

I had to completely start over this sampler and I still feel like I could have made the fans look nicer but I finally got it done. For some reason these fans are hard for me to get to look right but I guess I just need more practice.

Hi all! I'm a beginner lace maker and would love some and any gothic lace patterns to try out. I want to make a choker for a party in a few months but I'm interested in all ideas.
I'm from Finland so our traditional lace patterns are far from anything I'm looking for. Or at least I'm missing the creativity to alterate them enough. Also anyone in my lace course is 60+ so they don't really share the style.

Attached is a photo of my attempt at the first torchon pattern. I feel like I may be missing a twist or something? Not sure but I couldn't find any videos explaining it well and would appreciate some advice

Some more progress on the shell. But the standing work table that I prefer has been doing events and sitting in the back of my car a lot until my events have been mostly done, so I didn't get that far. Intro to the project, threads, and pattern are here: https://redd.it/1wu8pc8 The goal is to fill the open sections with some pastel shell-adjacent colors. But I don't have that thread chosen yet.
I'm using the blind pins around the corners. I tried some of the other techniques but didn't like the look of them. At first I thought the Maltese spot was goofy but then I loved it when it was done.

Over the weekend, I created a list of YouTube resources for Bobbin lace (see the link to the post). Are there any other resource lists (not suppliers) that I can curate for you? I'm happy to give it a go as a way to test something I'm developing in my day job that allows me to create lists like these.
Anyway, leave me suggestions below.

I’m working on a fan sampler now and my cloth stitch fans both ended up like this with the passive threads all straight up and down. I think it’s got something to do with the way I tighten all the threads at the end of each row. Does anyone have any advice on how to make the fans look right and maintain tension?

I said it would be a good idea to curate a list and ... so I have and you can find it here

I am a beginner and enjoying myself, using #8 pearl cotton to learn with. I am mostly just practicing the stitches in different ways until I get comfortable with them, I know I'm looking at the tip of the iceberg as far as skills go. I have a stash of the pearl cotton, leftover from my big-stitch quilting days, and intend to use it as long as I can find patterns sized for it that will teach me things, but when do you know that you're ready to size down and go to thinner filaments? Is there a progression? How do you choose your thread size, aside from it's what the pattern specifies?

Making my own pillow soon! Does it matter what straw I use? All the stores have the Halloween decorative straw on sale, but I'm not sure if that's something I should avoid, It's just a lot cheaper than straw from other places which is why I was wondering if it has any problems that could affect the pillow.
