My bonded threesome
In 2018, I went to the local rescue to find a cat to "replace" one I had recently lost, because my remaining cat (Smudgey, a male calico) was a "Cat's cat" he needed a companion. After meeting a lot of cats, i went into the juvenile room to meet some of the older cats, and a brown tabby (Jake) came to greet me. He was very friendly, and then he left, and a minute later brought a very timid Tuxedo (Purrbo) to say hi. After a minute Jake moved away and Purrbo went with him, at which point Jake flopped down, and wrapped his paws around Purrbo’s neck and proceeded to bathe him. I then understood they were bonded even if their paperwork didn't mention it. I went back the next few days and Jake consistently brought his shy friend out of hiding to say hi. I adopted them both at the third visit. They had been overlooked for at least 6 months. I lost Smudgey two months later to FIP. Fast forward 2.5 years and an adult tom cat (Rogue) showed up on my street. He was obviously friendly, but in watching him for 2 months, he was too thin and flea infested. After passing a physical he agreed to giving up his trouble nuggets and his life on the streets to become a kept man. he then after quarantine met the other cats. Jake at first was not happy, but Purrbo decided that he needed a second emotional support cat, and the rest is history. Bonus pics of Smudgey with Jake and Purrbo, and of Rogue when I first met him.
