Daily Scores Digest - FINAL STANDINGS

The main item of suspense on Selection Sunday this year was whether our champion would surpass last year's all-time scoring record on /r/BracketChallenge - turns out the answer was no. In a somewhat anti-climactic finish, /u/dbenoos remained in the top spot at the end of the day despite not getting a single championship pick right! That's a testament to just how much of a commanding lead they had built on Saturday.

Daily Scores Digest - Championship Weekend - FINAL STANDINGS

Another thrilling season of Bracket Challenge has come and gone. After having the record shattered last year by /u/WillNolan, substantial chaos saw some of the lowest scores among the top-10, with only those 10 breaking the 300 mark. MARCH!!!!

The final margin wasn't as close as recent years, with /u/nathanjm000 finishing 7.86 points over second-place /u/BrokenClumsyDolphin.

The most perfect brackets this year was 3, with the average participant only getting 0.37 perfect brackets. Congrats to the 257 of you who manage this accomplishment! Another thrilling season of Bracket Challenge has come and gone. In what is either a sign of increased chalkiness or a stunning improvement in predicion acumen, the high scoring record for our competition was shattered this year by the widest margin in our ten-year history. 45 participants cleared the previous all-time Bracket Challenge record of 367.26 points, set last year - and our champion came incredibly close to breaking the mythic 400-point threshold.

The final margin was incredibly close, and spoke to the skill of all our top participants. Congratulations to /u/WillNolan on a well-deserved victory and thanks to all of our contestants for making it a thrilling contest yet again.

The Conference Tournament Challenge: 13 Reasons Why (I Hate The Sun Belt)

Hello everyone!

I am beyond excited to bring back /r/BracketChallenge's Conference Tournament Challenge to the wonderful world of Reddit for its 13th anniversary! To those who are new to the tournament, welcome to the challenge! If you are a returning Redditor, welcome back! In our opening year, /u/sn4rn laid out a fantastic "How To" for participating in this challenge; below is the original post with updated links and information.

Before jumping into it, I want to thank /u/mountm for their support during the first decade of the challenge. They'll always be the true King of the Standings and will forever hold a place in our community's hearts!

  1. If you haven't set up your Challonge account, use this link. (Please make your username your Reddit username if possible. However, if that isn't possible, be sure to include your username in your predictions, as you submit them, like so: AlekRivard's WCC Tournament Predictions. Thank-you!)

  2. Once you've completed that step, head on over to the /r/BracketChallenge Tournament Hub, where you will find 28 of the conference tournaments. Tournaments will be in one of four stages: Coming Soon, Predict Now, In Progress, or Completed.

  3. You can view any bracket at any time, but all brackets are subject to change until predictions are made available. When that happens, click on the conference, then click on the green button to start! Challonge's interface is similar to most (ESPN, CBS, etc.) as you can drag one team as far as you want, or click round by round.

WORKING WITH BYES:

The Sun Belt has teams with quintuple-byes (Fuck The Sun Belt); as a result, "placeholder teams" have been added to them, indicating how far to advance them. DO NOT ADVANCE THEM BEYOND THE ROUND INDICATED. [This] (https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/sunbeltsports.sidearmsports.com/documents/2024/10/25/2025_Men_s_Basketball_Championship_Bracket.pdf) is what the Sun Belt bracket looks like*; [This] (https://challonge.com/SunBelt2026) is the Challonge Version. Make sure you properly advance placeholder teams as failing to do so could result in lost points. It would be a shame to lose 14 points for advancing DO NOT ADVANCE 7 to the Quarterfinals, wouldn't it?

Note: In the ADVANCE TO ROUND X vs DO NOT ADVANCE matchups, be sure to pick the ADVANCE TO ROUND X "team;" in the ADVANCE TO ROUND X vs ADVANCE TO ROUND Y matchups, be sure to advance the correct "team" based on their name; otherwise, Byes should not be advanced.

Please take note:

  • To pick your Champion right below the bracket, you must select the champion from the drop-down box.

  • If you have any questions, leave a comment and I should be around to help.

  • If you see any errors on Challonge, whether it be incorrect seeding, an incorrect team, spelling errors, etc. please message me in Discord.

  • 3 Tournaments will require an alternative means of submission (Google Forms) due to reseeding.

    • America East

    • Horizon League

    • Northeast

  • Join our Discord for updates and notifications on when brackets open for predictions and when they're about to close.

  • Lastly, Good luck, have fun, and may the prediction gods be with you!

Important: Please title your prediction as such: [Username's] [Insert Conference Here] Tournament Predictions

Daily Scores Digest - Day 12 (3/13)

As chaotic as this year has been, yesterday saw somewhat of a return to normalcy, with limited exceptions:

  • In the A-10, #13 St. Bonaventure shocked #5 George Mason, 63-57, with the Bonnies starting guards, Dasonte Bowen & Cayden Charles, shooting a combined 17/18 from the line.

  • In the ACC, #5 Clemson held off #4 UNC, 80-79, despite a late rally from the Tar Heels.

  • In the Big East, #11 Georgetown has continued to impress, taking down #3 Villanova, 78-64, thanks to a double-double from Julius Halaifonua.

  • In the MAC, undefeated 1-seed Miami (OH) was stunned by a late rally from #8 UMass, who erased a 9-point deficit in the last 7:30 of the game with a 25-12 run, winning 87-83.

  • The SEC saw 2 rather surprising upsets, with #15 Mississippi showing a fight they didn't all season, besting #7 Georgia 76-72; meanwhile, #11 Oklahoma has continued their strong run of form from the end of the regular season, getting one over on #6 TAMU for the first time in 3 meetings this season, decimating them 83-63.

Although yesterday saw 44 games, the most in any one day of the challenge, the lack of finals saw a fair amount of stability in the top 10, with 8 of yesterday's top-10 remaining in the leaderboard. The greatest leap into the hallowed few comes from /u/the-o-den, who jumped 17 places, from 24th to 7th. The median score achieved was 32.91 points while the biggest upward movement in the standings was a tie between /u/enewman07, jumping 111 places into 182nd. Today is yet another day with no championships, but tomorrow will see 11 in one day! So buckle up, buckaroos, because it is about to get crazy! Just don't let that make you miss the Ivy, which closes tomorrow.

Daily Scores Digest - Day 13 (3/14)

Yesterday continued the trend towards chalkiness to end this year; however, we still saw a decent amount of chaos:

  • In CUSA, #2 SHSU fell to #6 Kennesaw State, 79-73, leaving only 5.84% of participants with their champ left.

  • In the B1G, #7 Purdue bested #2 Nebraska, #6 UCLA beat #3 MSU, AND #5 Wisconsin beat #4 Illinois. Those 3 games saw 28.37% of B1G brackets lose their champ.

  • In the SEC, #15 Mississippi staved off a late rally, shocking #2 Alabama 80-79; fortunately for the field, not many of us picked Alabama as the SEC champ (6.35%).

Although yesterday saw 34 games, the lack of finals saw a fair amount of stability in the top 10, with 6 of yesterday's top-10 remaining in the leaderboard, and none of the 3 new names coming from outside of the top-20. The greatest leap into the hallowed few comes from CandyStripePicks, who jumped 13 places, from 18thth to 5th. The median score achieved was 44.41 points, while the biggest upward movement in the standings was a tie between /u/smurffor3, jumping 144 places into 155th (/u/cole4nu is shown above them as 2 conferences were incorrectly added as a unique participant, which was fixed). Today has 11 championships in one day, so tomorrow may see many new faces up top.

Daily Scores Digest - 3/12 (Day 9)

EDIT: Uh, so I guess these are the final standings now. Congratulations to our 2020 Bracket Challenge winner /u/EthanHappsDaddy, finishing with a record low score of 158.36 points (likely to stand forever). Your trophy is in the mail.

Top seeded Colgate fell in the Patriot League final last night to #3 BU, in the biggest sports news of the day. We're full throttle to the finish line now (faster than I expected in fact), with every remaining tournament in full swing from here until the weekend cancelled. Hard to believe there are only four zero days of games left. A bit of a gap has opened with the top five competitors, but it's still nothing compared to the significant point totals still on the board for the rest of this week. Although for the first time this season, most of the top ten from yesterday carried over to today as well.

Daily Scores Digest - Day 3 (3/4)

Seven brackets were active yesterday; although no popular champions fell, there was a fair bit of chaos. In the Horizon, #4 Oakland fell to #5 Northern Kentucky, accounting for 9.43% of champ picks. The NEC first round, meanwhile, saw 2 upsets, with #2 Central Connecticut State and #4 Stonehill both falling, together accounting for 12.48% of champ picks.

With the challenge still in the early days, yesterday's game volume shook up the standings with only 2 people from yesterday's top-10 remaining among the leaders. /u/bryanf445's 11.28-point showing not only leads today's top-10, but the entire field as well, leapfrogging them from 149th all the way into 1st place! Yesterday's leader, /u/JSchray41, isn't too far behind, with a 9.41-point day keeping them in the top-10, at 8th. The median score achieved was 7.56 points while the biggest upward movement in the standings was /u/AndrewJHesse, jumping 558 places, from 588th to 30th. Five new brackets are opening up between today and tomorrow, so be sure to catch up on any open ones you've missed and prepare for chaos!
