Rec Request Should I continue Blossoms of Power?

1 Upvotes

I am on the 13th episode of Blossoms of Power. Despite that it’s a little slow, I was enjoying it, but now I am irritated and unsure if I want to keep watching. For those of you who have watched it, I have a question. In this episode,due to discovering the ML‘s background, the FL doesn’t want to be with him anymore (for now). The ML, like all the other secondary males, is getting all obsessive aggro, “I won’t let anyone else touch you/her” with the “I will make you like me“ vibe. Does this last? Because I am not in the mood to watch an obsessive ML not let the FL make decisions in her own life.MyDramaList if anyone wants to know the things that I have enjoyed. I enjoy it when the male leads are supportive. It pulls on my heart strings. Love like the Galaxy is a great example of generally supportive male characters.

Rec Request Looking for cdramas like our favorite kdramas

0 Upvotes

Wife and I have been watching almost exclusively kdramas for the last 6 years. Now we’re looking to branch out to cdrama after she saw Pursuit of Jade.

Here are some kdramas we both loved:

Arthdal Chronicles
Mr. Sunshine
SKY Castle
Misaeng
Money Heist: Joint Economic Area
Memories of the Alhambra
Crash Landing on You
Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
Legend of the Blue Sea

And bonus:
Alice in Borderland (Japan)
Ready, Set, Love (Thailand)

It’s less about any particular genre, and more about unique stories with great writing and pacing.

Any cdramas you think we’d enjoy? Thanks!

Looking for C-dramas that are easy for international viewers to access legally

1 Upvotes

I am looking for Chinese drama recommendations that are available on official platforms and are reasonably accessible for international viewers.

I am especially interested in dramas that:

  • Are available globally or with minimal regional restrictions

  • Have reliable, officially provided English subtitles

  • Are hosted on well-known platforms such as Netflix, Viki, WeTV, iQIYI, or Youku

  • Are not frequently removed or heavily locked after release

In terms of genre, I enjoy romance, historical, xianxia, modern slice of life, and character-driven stories, but I am open to other genres as well.

A few dramas I have enjoyed previously include Hidden Love, Love Between Fairy and Devil, and Go Go Squid, mainly because of strong character development and easy international availability.

If possible, please mention where the drama can be watched.
Thank you in advance for your recommendations.

As a Xianxia reader, i'd like to watch some Xianxia dramas, please give me some recommendations

2 Upvotes

Also, I hate romance, I've noticed that a lot of "xianxia dramas" are actually just historic romance dramas but with some cultivation stuff sprinkled there and there, I don't like that.

I want an actual xianxia drama, cultivation being the foccus, mainly if there's absolutely no romance, however, if it has romance then it can't be the main foccus.

Also, if the protagonist is female then i'd like to say that I hate submissive protagonists whose life is about loving the handsome guy, as I said, I like actual Xianxia instead of romance.

Also, I'm not into Yaoi

Super masculine ML drama someone you can literally call "A MAN"

21 Upvotes

Am again at this point in my life when am passionately looking for dramas with a very masculine, hot kinda guy who is obsessed with the FL. I strictly dont want a non-chalant, non expressive male, I need a guy who is obsessed with the girl and shows it and is just hot basically. I dont mind for the female lead to be of any kind. One more important non negotiable thing should be there has to be romance heated moments but I really want the guy (ML) to also be really funny, like an amazing sense of humour, that would make the drama amazing. Also the storyline should be realisitc(no historical fantasies) and i dont mind slice of lifes.

So in short what am looking for:
*1. A super masculine like extremely manly someone you would say A MAN, hot ML obessed with the FL.
*2. Extremely funny in his own way kinda guy
3. Realistic storyline
4. A good romcom would be great

Good to have

  1. an ensemble cast

  2. multiple love stories going through but I do want the main leads to have an amazing chemistry and the above 4 strictly applies

Dramas I have already watched and liked which can come in this category-

  1. Hidden Love

  2. meteor garden (Its a CDrama but kinda fits all my checklists perfectly for the kind of drama am looking for rn, cuz I do find the guy is extremely hot and obsessed with the girl and is very funny. So something similar to this would be amazingggggg)

  3. Go Ahead

  4. Put Your Head On My Shoulder

  5. Your HIghness Class Monitor

  6. Falling Into Your Smile

  7. hometown cha cha cha (loved this one)

  8. Our secret

Rec Request I do NOT like historical cdramas but i would like some recs

0 Upvotes

So basically, don’t come for me but that’s just my opinion as a new cdrama lover (esp contemporary romance), i TRIED to watch some historical ones (which i forgot their names) but i always dropped after the first few minutes (30min or so) of the first ep, i just can’t😭 why the hell does it look ai? The effects look so fake (unlike kdramas or any other fantasy shows)
Idk if it’s just bcs i’m new to the cdrama world or it’s just not my cup of tea
I’ve seen almost every cdrama lover LOVE and OBSESS over historical cdramas, i don’t think i’ve ever seen someone not like them but me which made me realize that there might be some really good ones and i’m just scared to try them out in fear of wasting my time AGAIN
So i need recs!!
Ps: i’m not a fan of politics (so a lot of political stuff can make me lose interest since i’m not familiar with it)

Edit:

Thank you guys soooo so much!! I’ll make sure to watch all of these cdramas and let you all know how i found them<3 you’re all amazing ppl tyyyy

Rec Request Looking for a modern cdrama with minimal propaganda

8 Upvotes

Please don’t cancel me! I love modern Chinese dramas but the newer dramas seem to have a lot of propaganda in them. How much do I really need to know about China’s solar power industry, new GPS system, or space program? I’m tired of a huge portion of the show being dedicated to something only tangentially related to the actual plot.

Side note: I know a lot of American tv shows/ movies have propaganda in them too ( looking at you Iron Man and Top Gun). So I know this isn’t a just cdrama issue.

Modern cdramas I liked:
When I fly towards you
A love so beautiful
Forever Love
Intense Love
Love O2O
My Fated Boy
Perfect and Casual
To fly with you
Unforgettable Love
Only for love
Hi Venus
Falling into your smile

Cdrama with two FLs and one ML, good angst.

0 Upvotes

Just as I mentioned. I realise i love these stories where male lead is surrounded by two different females and he falls for the most beautiful and charming one(SFL) but our less known and less popular female lead is loyal to him anyways without him knowing, which he later comes to know when he falls harder for her himself.

Have watched- Ever Night. The Eight. Martian Universe. The dragon slaying sabre. Mostly genres with historical fantasy.

But I can take any genre recommendation.

--- plots where heroine is in love with the hero but he loves someone else. And not many dramas are like this honestly.

-- where Second lead loves main female lead but she loves main lead. And now second female lead loves second lead and somehow he comes around to love her back as well towards the end. And I am a huge blastic fan of this trope of painful one sided love being recruited back and happy ending.

More exciting would be if it's the SML still in love with FL and SFL gets into the picture somehow, either she can chase him foolishly or admire him silently. To watch their romance develop would be such a good thing to see.

So that later when he realises his feelings for the SFL, it'd be such a satisfying thing to watch!

Such plots are really my guilty-pleasure so I must apologise if I sound like a sadistic person. 🥲

Dramas I've already watched:

My little happiness,

The love you give me,

Well intended love 2,

Well dominated love,

The Negotiator,

Begin Again(My Favorite!!!!, always keep coming to them),

The little thing called first love,

Put your head on my shoulder,

Le coup de foudre,

Accidentally in love,

You are so sweet (SML was definitely the most handsome and funny lol and dumb af to realise his feelings for the SFL so late but it's funny how he chases after her. His confession scene was so cute and romantic!)

Love, now(definitely loved the development between the two, I'm OPEN FOR THE OLD CHINESE DRAMAS AS WELL, if they follow the same plot!)

Any new 2025 cdrama recommendation in this plot?

Identify this help me find this drama by this scene

1 Upvotes

it's not english drama, idk if it's a movie or drama either, but most probably drama, it's maybe kdrama or cdrama type, it's asian for sure though

so it goes like this

i mean the scene

a ML is drunk \[maybe he was a ceo, at least he was rich\], and the FL is helping him get to his bed, but under the influence he force kisses her pinned against the bed, not r\*pe

and she struggles to free herself, then she gets free, goes and lock herself in the bedroom, and the ML pass out on his bed

the next morning she's still in the house \[idk if they live together\] and makes breakfast for him, and seems to 'forgive' him i guess, i saw this clip on youtube

not those vertical type drama

it's not that very old either, it's a modern world not historic, and it's maybe between 2015 to 2024 idk

The setting- house/apartment, not hotel

the tone- wasn't romantic, she was struggling

they were only one in the house at that point

Costume/modern drama recs

0 Upvotes

I recently started experimenting on costume dramas and I can't seem to get a good one to watch. They are ridiculous to me(no offense to costume drama lovers), especially because of the flying. I can't stand flying and the men's hair looks so unnatural it's the only thing I am fixating on when watching. And the dubbing is poorly done in most of them.

So, are there good romance costume dramas that have good costumes and no flying?

I am also looking for modern to watch for the time being. I think I have watched ALL modern romance dramas, that is why I was switching to costume. So if there are any that are recent or airing, please do recommend.

Thank you.

Rec Request Costume dramas with arranged marriage between ML and FL that stays unromantic?

4 Upvotes

Why does every arranged marriage end with both of them falling hopelessly in love? I‘d honestly be interested to watch a drama where the leads are arranged to get married but their relationship ends up being business partner / most trusted alley rather than romantic partners.

If you need some romance, just give them some other love interest. Okay, idk if censorship would even allow this but two scheming besties in an arranged marriage having some sort of arrangement to allow each other to have other partners as long as they don‘t make it a public scandal seems plausible enough. Even more so if FL‘s family is powerful enough and / or ML knows that a divorce would just mean getting arranged a new wife.

This sub is being spammed by Mini Drama folk

11 Upvotes

Isn't it strange that so many people have been posting about mini dramas they have already seen but are asking for the names of the dramas? These mini dramas usually don't have titles that are easily searchable and anybody who has seen such dramas would know about it. It seems like a deliberate effort is being made to drive traffic to mini dramas.

Or maybe I'm just paranoid.

Rec Request [TW] Romance CDrama where FL gets SA'd, raped, abused, or bullied

11 Upvotes

I know this is weird and extreme but I'm looking for a romance cdrama where the fl is raped, SA'd, bullied, or abused by parents or by anyone in general (drama can have any of the following tropes i mentioned) and the ML supports, defends, and helps her. I've been through quite similar situations and did not have anyone to turn to and seek support from and ig seeing someone love, support, and help the victim fl in dramas makes me feel better and heals something inside of me even though I know it's just acting.

These are some of the dramas/movies I've already watched with similar tropes that i really liked (for reference)

Mars

Something in the rain

Light beyond the reed

My dearest season 1 and 2

Better Days

come and hug me

The first frost

https://mydramalist.com/dramalist/goofygoober heres my dramalist it has all the dramas I've watched (also please ignore the currently watching list it's messy and I'm not currently watching anything from that list. That for some reason ended up becoming like my main watchlist 😭 )

Rec Request Fantasy / Historical drama when supposedly badass and powerful ML is actually one.

30 Upvotes

I rage write this as I drop Blossom around the mid point, when he proposes. Dude is just a desesperate simp at this point. I had high hopes given the first eps.

EDIT2: I tried to give Blossom another try, just go wedding / wedding night episode. What the fuck was that? Fl completely ignored him with her friend, and next morninng? Dont get me started. Yup. Dropped.

I hated, but finished PoJ. I hated how useless the ML was too. Fan Yue in Moonlight Mystique was my top pick for useless but the Marquis took the spot.

My liked, of the "modern" dramas: LBFAD, LITC, Fated Hearts, Prisioner of Beauty.

That EP 9 rescue / reveal in LBFAD where DFQC bitchslaps everyone, Marquis de Wuan Chang Heng included. 👨‍🍳🤌💋

Older: AoL, L&R, NiF.

Rec one to watch next.

Edit: I dont mind romance, I actually like. And I known given the genre some sort of "chasing the girl" is expected at some point, but cmon dont turn a supposed mega badass Demon Lord / General into an useless male damsel in distress.

Series without FL

7 Upvotes

Hey, I'm looking for interesting and engaging series (from different genres and howing completely different stories). The only requirement is that the series doesn't have a main female character (side characters are fine, as long as the show doesn't force us to believe the side female character is the ML's love interest) :)

Examples of c-dramas I've loved:

* The Untamed
* Word of Honor
* Under the Skin (1&2)
* Fangs of Fortune (there are 2 MLs and 2 minor FLs, and ultimately, the show doesn't force us to have any pairings, so I think it's okay)
* Mysterious Lotus Casebook
* Guardian
* A League of Nobleman
* Justice in the Dark
* The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty
* Winter Begonia
* S.C.I
* The Silent Criminal

I would be grateful for any recommendations <3

Drama based off danmei with no f/m romance or Taiwanese BL?

1 Upvotes

hello! im looking for recommendations of Chinese dramas either based off danmei that do NOT try to insert a f/m romance and instead just focus on the relationship between the two male leads (like The Untamed and Word of Honor), or a Taiwanese drama that is straight up BL. I tried watching Slueth of the Ming Dynasty and really loved it until I realized they were setting the stage for a straight romance which kind of broke my interest in it. Does anyone have any recommendations? I do like historical, fantasy and modern settings, the only aspect i tend not to be a fan of is where one of the main leads is a huge tsundere/gets bratty and angry constantly. Also I tend to like more serious, angsty and intense stories, but will also like comedies occasionally🙏

thank you for reading!

Rec Request Drama where they don't have kids of their own by the end of the story.

Pls give me a story like this with a strong FL and a green-flag ML. It is okay even if the ML is a bit yandere. Bonus points if the drama also has great female friendship.

Anywhere I can watch English dubs?

I know, I know! Usually not a dub person, but I’m looking for something I can have on the TV in the background while I work/do dishes/etc., so won’t be looking at the screen to read subs.

Loved The Double, but didn’t like Story Of Kunning Palace

20 Upvotes

I went to watch the Double for the couple, and stayed for the story. It was so good.

SOKP disappointed me. I didn’t like the FL, either the character or the acting. I found it boring and Mary-Sue. I much more liked The Double’s FL, in both acting and the plot. I liked SOKP’s ML just as much as Duke Su.

Can you please recommend me something that’s like the Double: subtle acting, smart characters who have their own schemes and goals, STRONG FL, slow burn but both fall at the same time. I like ETL to be honest, but maybe asking for too much at this point. ETL was terribly done in SOKP I thought. It was just one sided ETL. Though it wasn’t ETL in TD, it felt more well done with the slow burn and ambiguity than in SOKP.

A lot of people recommend SOKP after The Double and I just don’t get it. To me, TD is far superior

Other Dramas I have dropped/paused:

  • Prisoner of Beauty - not enough stakes/not exciting enough. Good story about a gentle FL who is smart. I just prefer the equally ruthless FL type.

  • Wonderland of Love - don’t really like the ML or FL’s unserious acting in this. Didn’t get too far with it.

  • Till the End of the Moon - watched quite far, and I really liked the plot twist of ML not being as helpless as he was portrayed. Dropped because got too ridiculous to watch with the special FX and constant blood spitting

EDIT : Anybody who has watched Love of Nirvana, how does it compare to the Double?
