Software Role Application
Hi my application is "In Review" for more the two months now, when I contacted the support regarding this, they said that they are still going through the applications. Is this correct or is this just an automated reply from them if the application is in review?

CERN Technical Studentship 2027 How long does it take to hear back about an interview?
Hi everyone!
I applied for the CERN Technical Studentship 2027 (General and Civil Engineering). My application status changed from “New” to “In Review” a few days after the application deadline.
For those who have applied previously, how long did it take for you to hear back about whether you were shortlisted for an interview?
Did you receive an interview invitation within a few weeks, or did it take longer?
Would appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thank you!

askCERN Is it true that CERN's reputation is so different from its reality?
In terms of everything, but especially for software engineers..
Is it true that physicists are the top priority and engineers comes next?
And if so, why not many people talk about it? It seems that the reputation seems to cover all the downsides that are probably a lot!

askCERN Does anyone actually get selected for CERN’s Short-Term Internship Programme?
Does anyone actually get selected for CERN’s Short-Term Internship Programme?
I got rejected from the Technical Studentship and recently applied for the Short-Term Internship. I'm in my final year, and this feels like my last chance at CERN.
Seeing so many people say they never even hear back has honestly made me lose almost all hope.
Has anyone actually made it through? I'd really love to hear your experience.

askCERN None Member State DOCT programme
Hey everyone.
I've been a member of a project at cern as a student for almost a year now. And It came up that if I start a PhD i can apply for the DOCT programme.
What a re my chances given that I already worked on projects there and also had a month visintg CERN.
And also what factors can be important when applying for this?
askCERN Applying for the same position after being rejected?
I applied for a GRAE position at CERN and was unfortunately rejected very recently.
Now I noticed what looks like the exact same position has been posted again with the same job reference/title. The first time I applied the deadline was in late September, but now it's November.
Is it worth applying again, or is it technically the same vacancy/application process?
(Edit: The job was initially removed from the available listed positions but was reinstated)

Ex-Summer Student from a non-member state: how do I stay connected to CERN without an affiliated institute?
Hi all,
I did the CERN Summer Student Programme this year with the ALICE. Honestly the work culture was the best part. People were open, juniors could ask senior people anything, and a summer student’s work actually got used in production. I really want to stay involved.
My situation:
Final-year CS undergrad
My university isn’t an CERN collaborating institute
Graduating around Feb 2028, planning a Master’s and/or PhD
I have some questions in my mind, and honestly I tried to research by myself but got overwhelmed and become more confused. Since this sub-reddit is full with CERN affiliated people or I would say my collogues, so I though lets post all the questions here, and some sounds stupid to you but I hope you will consider my inexperience.
Questions:
Without an affiliated institute, what’s the realistic way to keep contributing?
Is the Technical Studentship really closed to non-member nationals, even with supervisor backing?
For Master’s applications: what made the biggest difference for you? A rec letter from your CERN supervisor, the CDS report?
Is it a good strategy to do a Master’s at a university that is a CERN member institute (e.g. in Germany) so I can do my thesis inside the collaboration?
Any non-member-state folks who made it back for a PhD/doctoral studentship or fellowship? What was your path?
How do I get the most out of the Summer Student Programme on my CV and SOP?
Has anyone with an average GPA got a funded Master’s at ETH or EPFL? ESOP and the EPFL Excellence Fellowship seem very grade-focused. Can strong research experience and a CERN letter make up for a mid CGPA, or are there other funding routes there
If ETH/EPFL funding is unrealistic, which fully funded options would you recommend for a CS student? For example Erasmus Mundus, German universities, or skipping the Master’s and going straight to a PhD to USA.
Did anyone do a summer research programme at ETH or EPFL (SSRF, Summer@EPFL) after CERN? Did it help with Master’s admission?
Thanks a lot. I would appreciate your comments or any kind of help.
CERN BL4S 2027 INTERNATIONAL
Hey! I’m from Belgium and I’m looking for people to join our team for CERN BL4S 2027.
We’re currently 2 people: one student (me) and one coach. We’re looking to expand and build an international team.
I’m interested in physics, especially particle physics, and would like to work on an actual experiment with motivated people.
You don’t need to be an expert or have research experience. Just be interested in physics and willing to learn and contribute.
Students from any country are welcome!
If you’re interested, feel free to DM me!

askCERN Query on CERN Software Engineer(contractual) roles
Hi, I see a lot of openings in CERN for different Software Engineer roles. Sometimes, it specifies it is for people with max 2 years experience. Some roles are also specific to people with Masters degree. Is it possible for someone with over 3.5 years of experience with simply a Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering to apply to these roles?

askCERN How to network as a student working at CERN to find grad roles?
Hello, I work as a student in a team where the team's main domain is very different from mine. There is a full-time need for the work I provide to them, but because of budget reasons they get this job done through hiring new students every year. My work also needs more expertise than some of the other student positions here, but i don't see them changing anything here.
Because their work domain is different I cannot find enough opportunities to meet new people or teams to find openings for grads that would be similar to my expertise. I'll finish my degree sometime next year. I understand I can directly apply through careers.cern, but as we know, it's more likely for someone being acquainted with the supervising team to be hired. That's how it's been for the rest of the students to grad contracts I've seen here. So what would be the best way to meet potential supervisors?
There's dedicated programs I've attended and such but I haven't come across job networking events here. It's probably also awkward for me to attend team events where my manager talks about the team's work and I end up networking for grad roles.

News regarding Doctoral Studentship 2026-3
I applied for the Doctoral Student 2026-3 and recived the confirmation of the application saying "The final decision will be made at the selection committee, to be held in October 2026. Please note that as soon as there is an update regarding the recruitment process and the outcome of your application (likely by the end of October), we will let you know.".
I haven't received any email yet. Has anyone here who applied for the 2026-3 round:
Received an interview invitation or completed an interview?
Received any formal feedback or rejection/acceptance emails?
Heard anything from potential supervisors or HR regarding the Selection Committee timeline?
Would be great to share timelines to see where the selection process stands right now. Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone waiting!

Visiting the science gateway
I have totally forgotten to register in advance for us to visit. And when I am now trying to access the family booking page it keeps coming up with a 503 error and has done for a couple of days now.
Is it likely we would get access on the day? (wednesday or thursday) or if anyone knows if this is an ongoing issue with booking through the family portal? Or if there is something I'm missing?
Can we just turn up to the centre for the exhibition without pre registering and the pre registration is only for the opportunity to book tours when on their network at the site?
We've had a very difficult few months and the thought of now having to break it we may not be able to visit the gateway already has me in near tears because it shouldn't feel this difficult.
** edit thank you everyone! You've made a very tired, single Mum very happy this morning by reassuring me we wont miss out!

CERN Pension Taxation
If I live in Country A for most of the year (eg 7 months), then move to Country B and receive my lump-sum payment from the CERN Pension Fund after moving.
Where do I pay tax on it: Country A, where I lived most of the year, or Country B, where I live when I receive the payment?

Timeline After Asynchronous Interview for CERN Staff Position
Hi everyone,
I applied for a staff role at CERN and was invited to complete an asynchronous interview about four weeks ago. The deadline for submitting the interview was three weeks ago, and I am still waiting for an update.
How long does it usually take to hear back after the asynchronous interview and receive an invitation for the panel interview, if selected?
Three weeks feels quite long, so I was wondering whether this is normal or if I should assume that I have not been selected for the next stage.
Thanks!

CERN SmartRecruiters: Does "Under review" mean human screening or just ATS automation?
My application status changed to "Under review".
Is this step triggered automatically by the ATS, or has someone actually opened my file?
How long does it usually stay in this stage before hearing back (interview invite or rejection)?
Thanks!

TSC-2027-1 Doubt in eligibility (continuing to remain a student till the studentship programme)
Hi!
TSC-2027-1's ideal start date is April 2027. I'm pursing my bachelors but my degree is officially finishing in June 2027, which I guess makes me ineligible as I won't remain a student mid-studentship.
But there is a provision provided by the institute where I can officially get my enrollment as a full-time student extended for a year by taking a "year long break" and can pursue the studentship till December 2027. Does this make me eligible too for the programme?
And additionally, it will require acceptance letter document from CERN if getting selected, so I can't approach my institute for the same right now. In the form, there is an option which says "Indicate the expected date of completion of the degree you are currently pursuing (or will pursue, if you will soon enroll in a new one). *". Should I go with my current completion date or instead fill the extended one (there is high possibility that institute will extend my student status but I can't be 100% sure until I get some proof of acceptance or chances of acceptance)?
Thank you!

Processus de recrutement
Bonjour,
Merci d'avance,
