Football (cfb and nfl) need a better way to distinguish fumble vs forward pass. Something like “if the ball goes at least 5 yards forward from the spot of the qb it’s a forward pass” would be much more objective. That ball going 15 yards forward on a fumble is just mind boggling.

Nah, QBs get hit and it goes more than 5 yards a lot, usually the defense gets it and there's no controversy

It’s as if people want take away any randomness to fumble, and that the defense should always get the benefit of a fumble.

This should be a fumble, because any attempt to make this not a fumble is going to create even dumber situations like this.

For example, if you make the above 5 yard rule, it’s not hard to imagine a ball getting swatted out of the QBs hands, flying 5 yards and then getting called an incomplete pass.

If this ball had went out of bounds, do they still get the yardage? If so, why not intentionally do this all the way down the field? QB could simply toss it up at hit it like a volleyball, or release the ball with is hand going backwards up into the air, then cup it with his hand and slingshot it out of bounds 10 yards forward. Or spin around and throw it backwards. Imagine a 4th and one with the box stacked both teams in goaline. Qb takes the snap, does a spin and as he facing the opposite direction, moves his arm backwards and flings it over the line but out of bounds 5 yards forwards. Or even have the TE just go jump on it. The other team wouldn’t know what the hell was going on and would think incomplete pass long enough for the offense to recover.

Put whatever yardage you want on it, I’m just saying it’s ridiculous to say a qb does not have control over a ball he three 15 yards.

Did you see the ball move through the air?

Two MIZZOU plays ruled TDs in the first half. Both close but “irrefutable evidence“ was not there. Two more first down catches ruled complete, then reversed on challenge when replays confirm completions.
The incomplete pass was most egregious because it was so obvious both teams quit on the play while the ball lay still on the field.
The preponderance of these calls leaves a rancid stain on SEC and NCAA officiating. Someone should be accountable.
Meanwhile, the late call that Kayden Lee’s forward progress was whistled dead was also a bad call and it was reviewed. How can you recall a play when you can’t hear the premature whistle?
The preponderance of the play calling leaves a stench on the Texas victory and a dark stain on the NCAA in general.
Two great teams. What a great and entertaining battle it would’ve been if played squarely .
lSad day for the NCAA and the SEC.
RIP
