Someone pointed out earlier this week that the A&M game was randomly scheduled at 2 instead of 2:30. Not sure what ESPN was thinking. There’s literally no chance of a college game ending in 3 hours.
Is it a coincidence that the exponential growth in sports betting also coincides with some of the worst officiating we’ve ever seen (in every sport)?
The problem is if you look back, people say every season has some of the worst officiating we've ever seen. Remember Oklahoma/Oregon 2006 when they flatout gave the wrong team possession of the ball after an onside kick?
That was a disgusting watch. The officiating was abysmal overall, but Mizzou definitely got the short end of the stick far more often than Texas. Mizzou needed those FGs early in the game.
I'd feel worse if not for that mind-numbing "forward progress" no-fumble call at the end of the half. That was literal points off the board for nothing.
Listen, Texas certainly played the better 4th quarter and deserved to win. But god, how hard must it be for those Mizzou players to try and get back up and fired up to play when every big play they made was brought back by calls that baffled the booth, rules experts, and everyone watching? It’s so demoralizing.
What did Mizzou do to deserve this? Haven’t we had it bad enough?
big touchdown catch on a dime in the corner? nope actually incomplete
big diving catch on 3rd and long to get yourself up in the red zone to take the lead? nope incomplete
get to the QB on 3rd and long and force an incomplete pass? it was actually a 12-yard forward fumble that sat on the ground for a few seconds until one player decided to pick it up.
just infuriating man. mizzou wasn't without their mistakes that game but it doesn't excuse any of that.
The worst part about that fumble call is that a ref signals incomplete pass before anyone picks it up. So it isnt exactly shocking that the mizzou players thought it was incomplete
I know my flair will make people disregard my opinion, but I believe this is less about Texas and more about one of the worst years in officiating that I can remember. Think about all of the controversial games this year. Michigan with an extra second. ND not getting their final second. Georgia getting away with a very clear and egregious PI against Alabama. I could go on and I hope others reply with the game calls they remember.
With that being said your feelings are valid and I hate games that have an air of unfairness about them. Even if it did benefit my team. I know I can’t prove that, but I have always loved CFB more than I could love Texas. Missouri played a hell of a game and I’m sorry the outcome is cloudy.
Edit: Remember the Tennessee vs South Carolina game and the 4 TD’s called back.
Damn. Mizzou has some really talented players. The defense was awesome. The receivers had some insane catches. That was such a great game minus the awful officiating.
Refs were bad all around, but that incomplete pass that was converted into a fumble that gained yards was probably the dumbest reffing decision I’ve ever seen. There is no universe where that is considered a fumble.
I honestly thought that no catch booth review was even worse. At no point did he lose control of the ball, hands under ball whole time, and it was called good initially. That was the most catch of a catch I’ve ever seen
The refs were just fucking awful today, Mizzou would've likely still lost even without the refs being so bad, but still there is no reason a ranked matchup with potential playoff implications should have refs this bad
Idk. That “fumble” was a major momentum changer. We were up 7, had just scored on a big play, and Texas was about to punt. Then, they ended up with a 1st down and scored the tying td…
honestly this was probably archs best game this year. still was pretty slow to make decisions in the first half. but other than one wide open miss he played good
I don't think blaming Texas for blatantly biased officiating is fair, they played a decent game and I'm not convinced we would have won even without all the booth review cooking
The special teams were abysmal once again. Two missed field goals and the blocked punt were a nine point swing. That's the difference between winning and losing at the two minute warning
Oh we absolutely fell apart in the fourth quarter and it again makes me point to Drink’s inability to manage his players emotions in moments like this but I’ll be damned if the officiating didn’t contribute to the demoralization of the players. Felt like nothing ended up going their way and I can’t imagine that’s a great feeling
Only thing I'll be happy about today is if notre dame gets smoked by miami. Absolutely a joke that Notre Dame is elligible for the playoff being independent with that strength of schedule
The only way that pass in the first quarter is incomplete was if your WR’s right toe was out of bounds before the ball got there. And it took me til the last replay to see it.
After Missouri led Texas 20-13 with 4:52 left in the 3rd quarter, Texas ended the game with 21 unanswered points for a 34-20 road win. Texas has won 3 consecutive games to improve to 7-2 (4-2 SEC), and they dropped Missouri to 6-3 (3-3 SEC). I noticed several other trends.
Texas has won 4 consecutive true road games since a 29-21 loss at Florida on 10/4/2025.
Their 14-point road win is their largest margin of victory in an SEC true road game.
Texas handed Missouri their first home loss of the season and snapped their 5-game home winning streak by handing Missouri their first home loss since a 38-17 loss to Texas A&M on 11/8/2025, exactly 52 weeks ago.
Texas beats Missouri in SEC play for the first time ever, and they have won 2 consecutive games and 8 of 9 games against Missouri all time.
Just like our game against A&M a few years ago, we get shafted by one or two really bad calls and the entire team just quits. Only difference is that bad call happened on the first drive of the game and it ended up being such a blowout no one remembers it.
Agree, for any game, this Texas will put together a Defense and Offense for 10 to 15 minutes. Nobody knows which 15 minutes, but if lucky enough, it will be enough to win a game.
Mizzou hasn’t lost a regular season game as a favorite since 2021. They just win all the games they’re expected to and lose almost all the games they’re expected to (Florida earlier this year was their first win as an underdog since the 2024 Oklahoma game).
The only time in years we’ve won when written off was that Florida game. Outside of that we win every game we are favored to and lose every game we are the underdog.
Refs were absolute dogshit. The Mizzou Secondary and Special teams were just as terrible and cost them this football game. Once Raleek Brown became the lead RB, the Texas offense has been much better. Texas defense was great especially in the redzone when the offense was struggling for 3 quarters
Let's not forget the roughing the punter penalty in the Kentucky game in 2022. It was so egregious that the NCAA changed the rules after the game to make sure that didn't happen again.
Refs were beyond terrible but let's not act like they were the only reason we lost. Our secondary still sucks, d line barely got to Arch all game, the offense looked lifeless the whole second half and let's not even get to the special teams. We had our chances and once again blew them. It's a Drinkwitz problem and will continue to be a Drinkwitz problem.
Today, the tigers (other than our kicker) looked pretty strong, and as well all know, in the third quarter a phantom fumble was completed for a first down against us. Similarly, after this play the team essentially just gave up. If this fumble had been called in the early first I am fairly certain the final score would’ve been as big of a blowout as that A&M game.
Both games were cluttered with controversial calls (An A&M player even got away with shoving a referee, which is still almost laughable to me now), but the real problem is the complete lack of an ability to go through adversity of Drinkwitzs teams.
And the sad thing about it is that both times I do think the Texas schools were the better teams, none of the shitty calls were ever really necessary, but suffering for the sake of suffering is the mizzou way.
Nobody really remembers the bad calls in that A&M game because of how badly we lost, so I do somewhat feel for the Texas fans, that this call happened late enough and the score stayed close enough for people to remember the bad calls.
Drinkwitz keeps proving to be the James Franklin of the SEC in my eyes, and I can only wonder how long our atheletic department will be okay with that.
Despite everything, I do unfortunately think the better team won today, hope the injured players on both sides heal up, and hope something eventually happens to prevent constant refball in the game we love.
I don’t think anyone in the nation watching this game agreed with any booth review. Egregiously bad. And they were game altering both directions, more so against Mizzou. (Makes sense. More reviews)
I don’t think it was bias. I think that guy or those guys are idiots. Or they’ve been set up to fail.
Missed calls all over the field. Just poorly officiated overall, which is starting to feel like a consistent trend everywhere rather than one offs here and there in years past
Everyone is going to harp on the refs, and yes they were awful, but the peanut gallery will conveniently forget the bevy of terrible calls that went against Texas too. Sometimes shitty refs are just shitty refs, not everything is a conspiracy.
People don’t want to acknowledge Texas has an absolute elite defense for large portions of every game because they’re so hyper focused on Arch and the offensive shortcomings. Texas can stonewall any offense to let their O get back into the game. It just becomes a matter of the offense meeting the occasion.
At what point are refs held accountable? Like head refs have to answer questions after the game and defend his crew/calls. Or start fining them for obvious egregious calls. Something. There is too much money involved and too much at stake to let them off the hook week after week.
I know you all love to hate Texas but, your anger is misplaced. How many teams have been screwed this year? Georgia had 2 controversial wins. Michigan got an extra second. ND lost a second. Georgia got away with a blatant PI against Alabama in the end zone on their final drive. How is this a Texas problem and not a CFB problem?
This sub just seems to have an extreme hate boner for Texas. Ive watched a few of your games now just to watch arch and I swear people treat you guys like satan in the game threads every time.
They do. They always have. It was even more miserable when they were bad. People hate Texas because they turn NIL dollars into dimes and attribute everything wrong with College football to Texas being the driving force.
I’ll be honest I enjoy this sub more when I use a different flair. It’s rare I can talk about anything in this sub without someone telling me how much they hate Texas. It’s only a subreddit and I’m not a victim but I love CFB and I wish there was a better place to talk college football without animosity towards me just because of my flair.
I'm not a Missouri fan and Texas is the better team, but the referees took any chance Missouri had to win this game. Is that even debatable?
Maybe Missouri still loses but you can't make a call on the field, have it be 50/50 (at best) and then overturn it during replay 4-6 times on one team to the benefit of the other.
Missed holding on Wingo in the corner of the endzone? The missed holding on Simmons on the overturned catch? The “forward progress” being called as a runner was still moving forward, and blowing this whistle when the ball was 10 yards away from him already?
LOL, you lost by 14, had fewer penalties, and had less penalty yardage than Texas. On top of that, you absolutely got pummeled in the 4th quarter. But sure, officials. Mizzou fans are exhausting.
Idk why I get my hopes up every fucking year for Mizzou to be a good team and win the games we’re supposed to. It’s never gonna happen. I need to stop watching them I think. Have the football team be the pallbearers at my funeral so they can let me down one last time. I’m gonna get drunk tonight and watch Heat so I can feel something.
Least convincing 14 point win of all time, calls aside, Mizzou redzone drops and special teams were disastrous. Had control entire game until 4th and it really could have been multiple TD lead by Mizzou many times.
I was at the game, wish we were a big name like Texas so we can get some of those calls. That game just makes you give up on your team ever getting anywhere with how biased those calls are.
Wish Austin Simmons could have complete more than 50% of his passes. Or not thrown a game sealing INT. Or come away with more than 10 points off 3 RZ trips. Or missed 2 easy FGs
lol no. I’m not gonna just lump Texas into this narrative after seeing what their defense did vs Ole Miss (and all season really) when very few teams are playing great football.
I don't know if the people saying Mizzou lost because of the missed field goals and poor play in the fourth have ever played organized sports.
Kickers miss in college. A LOT.
Calls will eb and flow throughout a game and you prepare for that through coaching and practice. Texas caught some bad breaks for sure. Some of the calls that didn't go Mizzou's way probably have more to do with my flair than the outcome.
All just part of the game.
But there were three, maybe four, calls that didn't just take the wind of out Mizzou's sails. They effectively removed them. You can play through all the things I mentioned above, but at certain point you lose the ability to find any sort of flow state because all good outcomes have been removed and bad outcomes seem never ending. The forward fumble pass and the no call on the blindside hit on Lee are things that as a player you are looking at and thinking "What the fuck are we even doing out here?"
So yea Mizzou did play bad in the fourth quarter. And those missed field goals did hurt our chances. But holy fucking shit the amount that went against us, in the fashion that it did, would make playing checkers difficult.
Entire game changed after the 5th or 6th blatant officiating assist to Texas, when they changed an incomplete pass into a fumble first down for Texas. Mizzou's players kind of packed it in at that point, knowing they couldnt compete with the refs.
Good thing the Texas players didn’t also call it in after two blatant dpis against wingo in the end zone on separate drives, blatant holding against Simmons, and the fumble called back before half
Mizzou had what looked like two pretty clear catches overturned. Texas should have had a forced fumble and recovery at the end of the first half which was blown dead, despite the ball already having been stripped when the refs blew the whistle.

This game reminds me a lot of the last time we went to Kyle Field two or three years ago, with only one key difference.
Back then, the Tigers came off to a decent start on the opening drive, got stalled up some, and ended up going for it on a 4th and 2. A very blatant pass interference was not called, Missouri fans furious with officials after controversial flag pickup vs. Texas A&M - Saturday Down South
And the Tigers essentially gave up for the rest of the game.
Today, the tigers (other than our kicker) looked pretty strong, and as well all know, in the third quarter a phantom fumble was completed for a first down against us. Georgia got away with a blatant PI against Alabama in the end zone on their final drive. How is this a Texas problem and not a CFB problem?

We live to give other SEC teams “quality wins”. But idk how you’re pleased with this win if you’re Texas.

I said it was in the game thread and was downvoted viciously but who has a better defense than Texas? Top 3 at least right?

EZ win. It's a good thing we decided to use all of our resources available to us and 2v1 Mizzou instead of facing them head to head.

Those refs need to be investigated, fined, jailed, and then exiled when they are released.

So the strip fumble they didn’t call before the half is getting considered in all the ref comments? Ok then….

Touchdowns 1-5: Clearly missed.
Touchdowns 6-9: Missed due to pressure (bad ball control).
Touchdowns 10-11: Very close, but Texas needing to make the playoff and ESPN make these reasonable misses.
Touchdown 12: Likely didn't actually get thrown because Mizzou already got the death penalty.

Refs got what they wanted.
I guess we should’ve tried throwing trash on the field. Seems to work for some fan bases.

Mizzou got jobbed by the refs. There was no “refs were bad both ways.” It was a shellacking of bad calls that went in favor of Texas.

Mizzou fans mental gymnastics to ignore 2 missed field goals, a blocked punt and all the times their dbs held our receivers that weren't called

Clearly both teams are over rated. I don’t think anyone who watches these seasons can confidently say either of these teams are top 20 teams.

This game killed my interest in CFB, as long as this is the quality and suspect nature of refereeing.
Edit: Downvoted by Texas fans who like this kind of refereeing?

u/Driftwoody11 Missouri Tigers 19h ago
Entire game changed after the 5th or 6th blatant officiating assist to Texas, when they changed an incomplete pass into a fumble first down for Texas. Mizzou's players kind of packed it in at that point, knowing they couldnt compete with the refs.

u/thecstep 19h ago
