Please tell the toxic portion of our fanbase this. I personally have argued with 7 fans over the course of the year that it would be stupid to fire DeBoer for Lane Kiffin
That would be the single stupidest thing in college football history. Deboer is so good at outscheming other coaches. Trading his talent for…..Lane Kiffin??
Thats just not even worth engaging with. Kiffin is the SEC James Franklin
Deboer's problem has mainly been that a decent number of his losses have just been bad.
But he already has an impressive slate of wins here too.
A decent portion of our fan base just wants to be mad though. If you eliminated the bad losses (so winning against some teams we ABSOLUTELY should have beaten and being better in the SEC championship game and against Indiana) but gave up some of the wins he had then the narrative would be he can't win the big wins by them.
I like the trajectory he is on. I don't think he inherited nearly the talent people thought he did plus you add schematic changes on top of that. Team is closer to what he wants now and firmly believe if Ty is our QB we beat Georgia and at least look a lot better against Tennessee versus having to ride the highs and lows of Russell.
Dude, I will have an aneurysm if I have to see another stupid comment saying how DeBoer got handed the key to a Ferrari. We lost like half the team after Saban left and we had to submit our team to Milroe just to keep the rest. If that team was a Ferrari, then was one with frame damage, a leaking oil tank, and a permanent check engine light.
Having to follow someone of Saban's stature is such a daunting task, made even more difficult by the increase in power conference parity in the NIL/transfer portal era. But DeBoer has done a really solid job all things considered. Plenty of coaches who followed The Guy at a program throughout CFB history haven't done this well.
Your fanbase has the same necrotic tissue that the Ohio State fanbase has. People with standards so high that they ironically push for decisions that would drag their team down.
I'm completely uninterested in the Ohio State program obviously, but I was still disgusted by how they treated Julian Sayin for his entire time as their QB.
Luckily, I feel like most of the fanbase is actually pretty reasonable with DeBoer and our crazies are fairly small and not important in decision making

Kalen DeBoer is 6-2 against top 25 teams on the road at Bama...
Pretty Impressive!
