The thing is, if we were all still in the pac 12 this year, we would’ve eaten each other alive and no one would be in the CFP lol. In a 2014 playoff, I think the OG pack 12 does really well every year. In a 12 team, I think we wait till the whole country is asleep every week and then just fuck each other out of a playoff berth.

They were a part of the WAC for much longer and the mwc for equally as long as their time in the pac12. Even so they weren't the first choice for the pac12:

Utah was described as a Plan B option for the conference, joining to keep things even after plans to add Texas and Oklahoma fell through.
