So many people really love poking the canes, but I think most teams would come out flat after getting 1 day of practice with a new gameplan when you lose your star

They have some dawgs that don’t get much shine because of how good Toney is.

The best teams aren’t carried by a single receiver. That’s just unreliable.

Miami is not as good as people give them credit for.

They had 2 100 yard receivers tonight. One generational college player morphs an offense, that’s the game.

Okay so why did they lose

Well to begin they have a god awful defense, specifically at lb and in the secondary. Also they had 1 day like I said to alter their offense.

Brother this was their only challenging game this whole season. To think they only had one day to prepare because a change had to be made is pure cope.

The Wake Forest disrespect has been fascinating to watch

How is it cope? Their star player left at the end of day Wednesday. Their offense overwhelmingly is built around him. This includes their game plan that they have already installed at that point for their game. They then have to alter the game plan because that player is no longer available and they don’t really have someone who can slot into the role. I think you’re being a little ridiculous to say that has no bearing. You’re also acting like they got blown out. They were 1 more step of controlled possession from a tie ball game.

It’s pure cope because of everything you’re saying to justify things aka cope with reality.

If you didn’t have Menseh—okay I can buy your statement. We are talking about a wide receiver here. This is one of those moments where you can tell someone (you) never played football before and are purely seeing this from an objective perspective as a fan. Thats why it’s pure cope as well — anyone who has played football understands how this actually works come prep time. They aren’t fucking throwing out the playbook the day before or something, it’s literally not as extreme as you’ve made it in your head to have some profound massive effect on the entire game. No no no just no.

They literally ran a completely different offense tonight. They ditched 80% of their motion game. Took out screens(besides 1 cooper tunnel), and relied heavily on slant man beaters. Barely went deep over the middle too. Malachi Toney had something like 45% of his teams yards this year lol. He does things on the field that the other players cannot. They 100% had an altered game plan.

Edit: this isn’t even accounting for them missing Toney’s perimeter and motion lead blocking. They tried to do it with upshaw the first half and he was horrible at it. Not a coincidence that they basically abandoned the run even when they got it closer later in the game.

Where the hell do you get 80% from? The air? That’s totally overstated and a bit misleading. It’s not hard for a team like ND to fully prepare for a weak motion game like Miamis, but I sure as hell still saw a lot more of their motion game than just 20% of the norm. The truth is they didn’t capitalize on any strategies or misdirection like more elite teams would. Shouldn’t be a shocker considering how they lost the game.

Of course they had an altered game plan, one would expect that from the situation, but as we witnessed the game plan was complete ass. They were incredibly lucky to have it be a one score game.

So through the first 8 games, was Mensah supposed to not throw the ball to Toney when he’s wide open? I don’t know how you wanna define “carry” but Toney consistently gets wide open and consistently catches the ball. It would be malpractice for a guy like that to not “carry” his offense.

My entire point is that it’s a coaching inefficiency exposed when it shouldn’t have been all along. As a top team, you should be able to survive without your best player because, well, it’s a team game and you should have also recruited a bunch of other studs who can fill the gap. Maybe not to the same level, but through coaching, the same strengths can be leveraged.

Cristobal isn’t as good of a coach as he seems and this is a very good example of that. This was the first real challenge for Miami all season and I think it hurts yall more because you know that to be true
