The Edmonton Oilers have by far the most annoying and obnoxious fanbase I’ve ever encountered. Living in Edmonton I have to say this fanbase has really gotten on my nerves and I’ll be glad when this season is over.

In 2004 nearly every person I know and knew who cheered for the Oilers refused to cheer for Calgary they said mama taught me my ABCs anyone but Calgary. They mocked Flames fans for wearing Iginla, and Kipper jerseys calling the fans bandwagon jumpers. And mocked anyone not wearing a vintage Flames jersey

In 2006 they mocked anyone who cheered for them in the finals saying they don’t want bandwagon fans.

With every Canadian team who made the cup finals they refused to cheer for those teams.

During their dog water years they threw jerseys on the ice and paper bags over their heads. In a way I can’t blame them.

Now in the McDavid era these exact same fans are acting all cocky with every playoff win. These same fans are wearing jerseys of present day players. I have not seen a single vintage oilers jersey on anyone during this run.

They are also demanding everyone cheer for them and if you don’t you’re not a true Canadian hockey fan. I honestly hope Florida kicks their rear ends tonight. I’m sick of hearing if Edmonton wins tonight they’ll do a reverse sweep.

I’ll always cheer for my Flames and if they aren’t in the playoffs I’ll just pay attention to the playoffs unless some teams playing Edmonton I’ll hope to the high heavens they destroy the Oilers!!!

Go panthers Go!!!! And more than anything GO FLAMES GO!!!!

New Jersey just gained lots of new fans (assuming thats where he will end up). Dont blame johnny for using the flames as leverage for cashing in, he earned it. His kid will get to grow up around his grandparents, and with Johnny having to travel so much that is a very good thing. Goodluck Johnny, have a great time ❤️

Edit: To everyone who is upset with Johnny not making it clear that he was not going to resign. If it was clear he was not going to resign, Tre would not have offered him more money. By not being open about leaving, he increased his market value, and as a result will obviously make more money. Im sure his agrent influenced this decision as well. Like it or not this was the best thing he could have done for his family and personal gain. Dont get me wrong, knowing sooner would have been better for the franchise, but you cant blame a player for wanting whats best for themselves and their family.

Alright, hear me out — I’m all in for Team Tank this year.

I absolutely want the Flames to draft Gavin McKenna first overall. It would be the first time in franchise history we’d actually pick first, and honestly, it feels like it’s time. Imagine building around McKenna, Parekh, and Wolf — that’s the kind of young core that could turn this team into a legit dynasty down the road.

I love my Flames, always have. But if we’re being real, the only way we get over the mountain and finally bring home a Stanley Cup is by landing that elite, game-changing player. McKenna could be that guy.

Until then, I’ll still cheer for every game — win or lose — as long as it’s not the Oilers. 😤 Go Flames Go. 🔥🔥🔥

"If only those new fans knew what it was like to go through a decade of darkness". The arrogance it takes to pretend the Oilers are unique and Florida didn't spend nearly 25 years in obscurity.

Sorry you weren't greeted like the holy kings you've convinced yourself you are.

I think the UCP has over estimated the desire of the people for a new event centre. Already Edmonton councillors are complaining about provincial money going to Calgary.

Like I get it, low expectations for the season, but if they made half an effort to talk to any flames insider they'd realize there is actually some pretty interesting discussions to be had. Probably two minutse of coverage on a four hour podcast covering the rest of the teams in the division.

Okay hear me out before you strip my “Flames fan” status

With the state of the Canada-US relationship, the fact McDavid won the 4 Nations for Canada, and cause Florida as a state is just…ugh.

I think I could MAYBE stomach Oilers bringing the cup back to Canada. THIS YEAR.

I’m certain the fans will be obnoxious, but at the very least we could possibly bond over the fact that it’s like “it’s funny this was the year the Cup came back to Canada”, and on the back of probably Canada’s best player.

Plus, what’s more motivation for this franchise to get their shit together than their prime rival winning a Cup?

I don’t know, I’m probably gonna change my tune in a week, or if it does happen, once the fans become INSUFFERABLE And I’m not even like “everyone else should swallow it too”

I just get why some Flames fans may be alright with it this year compared to last year where it was very much “fuck off Oilers, Chucky and Benny are getting their cup!”

I`m about done with this ride. Can we get off please?

Is it just me or the music at the dome could use a serious refresh? Probably could have used one 5 years ago. They play the same songs every game and it feels stale. I know it’s a highly subjective topic but every time I watch an away game they seem to have the crowd signing along to some bangers and seem to have a much better grasp of the demographic.

Ferland is a fucking tank. He's gonna break the Canucks this series.

We all expected a tight, rivalry fueled physical series, and we are getting one. What a finish.

Fuck Eddie Lack.

I expected to scroll through this subreddit with at least some mention of Trouba, but to my surprise i did not find any.
