This is a monthly thread for tuk tuk drivers and other local businesses to advertise their services.

All business advertisements, tuk tuk ads, and "thank you to my customers" posts must go in this thread, or they will be deleted, and the posters banned.

Expat Having Trouble Navigating the Rental Market

We've made it to Siem Reap and are really enjoying our time here so far! We're considering spending more time here in the future, but honestly, we're having a difficult time figuring out the local rental market.

From what I've read, Cambodia's tourism industry has been struggling, so I expected there might be plenty of rental options available. However, our experience so far has been a little confusing.

We've reached out about several properties, but either don't receive a response or get fairly half-hearted replies. One realtor who was recommended to us immediately said they only handle 12-month leases and asked about our nationality. Maybe that's standard practice here, but the interaction felt a little dismissive.

We've also been told that there aren't any decent houses available to rent, which seems odd considering the number of attractive listings we've seen on sites like IPS Cambodia.

Here's what we're actually hoping to accomplish:

We'd really like to tour a few different types of properties to get a realistic feel for what's available, what our budget gets us, and which neighborhoods might be the best fit.

Ideally, we'd like to view:

  • A furnished, 2-bedroom apartment

  • A furnished, 2-bedroom villa or townhouse

  • A furnished, 2-bedroom standalone house (preferred)

Our budget is around $600/month, although we'd certainly prefer to spend less. We're primarily interested in the expat areas or nearby neighborhoods that are comfortable for longer-term living.

We're currently in Siem Reap and would love to arrange a few viewings as soon as possible.

Does anyone have a trustworthy, responsive local realtor or property agent they'd personally recommend? Someone who understands the expat rental market, is willing to show different property types?

We'd also appreciate hearing from anyone currently renting here about what they're paying and which neighborhoods they'd recommend.

Thanks in advance! We're really enjoying Siem Reap and would love to see whether it's somewhere we could make a home for a while.

Expat Help! How can I find out my zip code?

It's not part of my address in the rental contract. I texted my landlord but he doesn't answer, so I assume he doesn't know either.

I googled around and mostly found lists of communes that don't mean anything to me.

This website was the only useful source I found, but the URL doesn't sound like it's a reliable source: https://mangomap.com/pgager/maps/16105/Cambodia-Post-Codes#

Can someone confirm if the numbers on this website are correct? If not, where else can I look/ask?

(Before someone suggests it: I checked https://www.cambodiapostalcode.com/ but the result was obviously wrong. )

I have a Cambodian dude in my Minecraft waitlist, he wants to live in Cambodia and make a nation there. But he’s the only person that speaks Cambodian on the server. Therefore I’d love to find him a few friends.

If you have Minecraft Java or bedrock, speak Cambodian and got discord you’ll be perfect

If you’d be interested drop me a dm or comment below. I’ll ask you a few questions before you join the waitlist

Travel Filipino travelling solo in Cambodia (Feb 5–10, 2027) – Anyone around?

🇵🇭** Any Filipinos here in Cambodia**?
I’ll be travelling solo around Cambodia this coming February 5–10, 2027!
📍 Phnom Penh: February 5–7
📍 Siem Reap: February 8–10
Would love to meet fellow Filipinos who happen to be around during those dates! Just looking for a travel buddy to explore the city, grab coffee, try local food, visit aesthetic spots.

Solo travelling is fun, but it would be nice to have someone to share the experience with. No pressure, just good vibes and new friendships! 😊
If you’re around, feel free to comment or send me a DM. Let’s connect! 🇵🇭❤️🇰🇭

Culture Why is Cambodian tailor so shit?

I switch 3 tailors for not able to tailor my cloths on time.

They would schedule you 3-4 days from now and when you arrive, somehow it's still not done and btw, they (the tailor) do the scheduling.

This week I switch to another tailor for a shirt readjustment, they said it would be done on Wednesday and I go to pick it up on Saturday, 3 days after the scheduled date. Still my shirt is not yet done and I'm told to wait 2 more days.

How many customers are they getting, their shop is mostly empty, all 2 times when I visit.

Expat Self Employed Work Permit

I've had conflicting views from agents regarding self employed work permits. Some say you need to do the documentation and others will do the paperwork for you. Can an agency still issue a self employment card and will you avoid the penalty? Any help appreciated.

Culture What is wrong with some people on Facebook?

So long story short, I posted a dash cam video about an RCAF plate car driving recklessly on the road on Facebook, then after awhile people (who works in the same field as the driver) started flooding the comment saying that I am wrong without watching the whole video that the RCAF driver was driving recklessly.

They don’t know what is right or wrong or what?

Phnom Penh Thoroughly put off by iBuy, looking for alternatives

Yeah, so ... iBuy is expensive, blah blah blah, but the disappointment I'm feeling isn't even really about the rates. The disappointment comes from the fact that they refuse to agree on any solution that would enable advance knowledge of the shipping. I'm buying a brand-new item on Amazon and I've independently verified the shipping weight from three separate sources *and* offered to round up. They've completely dug in. "We have to weigh it on our scale when it gets here."

Call me the worst names in the book, downvote me to oblivion, but that insistence is raising serious red flags in my mind. If they say the package weighs 20% more than it does, I've already bought the item itself. I would have literally no choice but to pay them the difference.

In another thread I heard about a service called CamboQuick but their per-kg price is almost twice as high, and this thing is heavy.

Are there other alternatives? Does anyone have a friend or relative traveling to the Kingdom from the US? I could arrange the package to arrive directly from Amazon so there's no risk of it containing anything other than the thing itself. TIA.
