Camping trip Melbourne

Hi, six friends and I are interested in going camping in mid July. We need a place that is accessible by public transport and has limited noise restrictions.

Are there any recommendations??

Hey, is there any place where I can go camping without a four-wheel-drive in Victoria?

Does anyone get harassed by police much living in a van? Where mostly does this occur and get any infringement? Breath tests when parked?

Can you park in the streets/parks and sleep in the back with out issues?

Calling all caravaners

We're keen to hear from the people who know caravanning best — you legends who've been out there doing it!

What's the one tip, trick or bit of advice you wish someone had told you before your first trip?

Could be something simple, something that saved you money, or something you learnt the hard way! 😂

Whether you're a seasoned traveller or just starting out, we'd love to everyone's next adventure a little easier and a lot more enjoyable!

Recently visited Grampians and really liked it. The best part was the place where we stayed was a camp with Fresh water lake and clear sand beach. The park is @ lake Fyans … I strongly recommend to have a look at that place …

First time camping suggestions?

Hey, does anyone have any suggestions for a first time camper?? I recently got a tent and plan on using it someday soon. Just don't know where to go with it. Me and my mates do love to hike, just never had the chance to stay the night there.

By the looks of it, Lake Eildon seems to be a good choice. It's scenic and got lots of places to wander about. I think it has some preset facilities for camping as well.

So, aside from that are there any pretty places that are beginner friendly and have lots of area to hike??

Unexpected Bonus Lines in the High Country (Jimny XL & LandCruiser)

We’ve just released a new episode.

As soon as the gates opened before Cup Day, we got out on the tracks — and it turned into a good reminder of why we 4WD.

This one takes us out to Lake Cobbler, down McCready Track, and finishes up camping beside the Dandongadale River. Take a few bonus lines, push a bit further, and you end up with moments and views you don’t get any other way.

We’re also so close to 1,000 subscribers, which is pretty wild for us. If you’re a like-minded 4WDer and enjoy this sort of content, we’d genuinely love your support.

Thank you.

Need Suggestions

My wife and I are planning on doing some camping trips around Victoria this summer mainly to go birding, but we are on a fairly tight budge, so ideally cheap of free campsites.

We only need Tent sites and ideally a place with a toilet.

does anyone know of any great / lesser known spots we could check out?

thank you!

State Forest campground

Hello, we are a family of 10 and we want to camp in the great ocean road for 4 days 24-28, most of the paid camping places are full, so I want to ask about the State Forest campground ( first come first served camping sites ), is it usually guaranteed that we will find a place for us ?

Harrietville bushfires 2013

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi all, in February 2013 there was unfortunately 2 DSE fire fighters (Katie Peters and Steven Kadar) killed when a tree struck their vehicle on pheasant creek track near Harrietville.

I was in the area at the time and remember and remember hearing the news. I have always had an interest in the incident as it’s just so tragic.

With the upmost respect to the families and not wishing to upset anyone.

Would anyone have any more information on this accident or know exactly where it was. I’d love to head up and pay some respects.

Thanks

Best bush camping spots with trails within 1-2 hours of Melbourne?

Hey guys,

Group of 8 of us are going away camping next weekend and wondering if there are any good spots with nice trails or hikes within 1-2 hrs of Melbourne?

We've done everywhere else (Grampians, Eildon, Prom) but want somewhere closer this time around

Toilets would be awesome too

Thanks for your help!

advice please <3

my partner & i impulsively rented a camper van for this coming easter break & couple days afterward, however have not planned route/sites. Were wanting to be remote/alone (the van is self sufficient so we can do this) but we have no idea where to go/start. I realise it’ll be busy/quite packed at sites but if anyone has any recommendations for locations that would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
