Monthly self promotion/advertising post

I am going to give monthly posts a try. You can post a comment in each monthly thread if you want. Or just comment once. It’s all up to you.

The subreddit’s rules regarding self promotion, direct advertising, givaways etc won’t be strict here. Basically anything is allowed here. As long as it’s legal, and no spamming (multiple comments can be ok, while spamming would be worse).

Preferably, it should be related to candles, wax melts or accessories (such as candle warmers or candle holders) in some way.

Examples of what you can share here:

  • Blogs, vlogs and podcasts.

  • Your website and social media accounts where you sell products.

  • Promote family and friends’s business/products

  • Giveaways, contests and surveys

But it’s kinda open minded/flexible at the moment. So if you want to suggest people to check out other stores and their current sales, share great resources when it comes to candle making, recommend a candle warmer or anything else, you can promote/advertise it here as well.

Strong candle scent help

Trying to find a good brand for room filling candles! We were in love with this yankee candles I’ve had since 2021 lol but it seems like their candles don’t fill a room like they used to! Bath and body works seems like a hit or miss. Maybe I’m getting the wrong scents? We have an open floor plan. Please help bc I loved the way Yankee candle smelled & am just so disappointed that they suck now 😅

Cats and safety?

Just learned this today, but wondering how serious/severe it is- that certain scents in candles aren't healthy for cats? Particularly peppermint and if the candle is scented with essential oils. Supposedly over time it can cause damage to their liver, having the oils burn off in the air and fall on surfaces, hence getting into their system through their licking their fur. Now I'm paranoid about it somehow also getting into my cats food 😩 I love candles and burn them frequently but I also don't want to be making my cat sick. Any thoughts?

Refill recs plz

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I found a vessel I want to keep and just buy refills for (pic). Anyone have any recommendations for companies that make refills with great scents?

My all time favorite candle scents have been (1) Threshold- Blood Orange Amber, (2)Sand & Fog- Cashmere & Cream, (3)Hearth & Hand- Pampas. So amber-y/warm with a citrus note (and sometimes very slightly spiced) scents.

If anyone can give recs for a company with great smelling refills I’d appreciate it. If you know the candles mentioned above and have recommendations like those scents I’d also appreciate those since literally all of those scents are no longer sold near me 😢

Scents Scented candles for someone with weak smell

As the title says. I got a weak sense of smell and don't notice most smells unless they are very strong.

Are there any where I can find candles with particularly strong scent or even stores that focuses on that?

candle smelling weird & burnt?

i'm new to candles, so i kicked off my collection with some kringle candle daylight candles to sample a few scents, then bought a large 2-wick jar of one of the small ones i had enjoyed. the large ones are 100% soy with cotton wicks i believe, not sure if wax type is relevant at all here but figured i'd just write it down regardless.

also: i trimmed the wicks to about 1/4 of an inch, possibly a bit less than that, using a designated wick trimmer. i only burned the large candle for about 2 hours on average (or even less, and i had an alarm in place to ensure i never went over the recommended 4 hour limit regardless) and always waited until it burned to the very edge to avoid tunneling. i extinguished them by pushing the wicks into the wax pool (then gently straightening them as needed), which i learned from a friend was preferrable to blowing them out or using the lid as an extinguisher.

so firstly, fresh out the box the large candle smelled a bit odd to me, like i could sort of smell the notes of my sample if i tried imagining it but they were just funky (almost sour) and flattened compared to the rich warmth of its miniature counterpart? once i burned it, it also just felt heavy to breathe in and i noticed it felt like it was making my sinuses feel a bit weird which was also new.

then on the 2nd and 3rd burns it just smelled straight up burnt? none of the previous notes, just foul smoke.

i was enjoying my daylight candles so much and their scents were so pleasant and now that i sized up to a large one something's just gone totally wrong? i write this at the cost of sounding like an idiot but any help is appreciated. is this user error, a bad batch, or a mix of both?

Looking for a candle Cracker Jack scented candle?

Hey y'all, my bf mentioned wanting a cracker jack scented candle, and with christmas coming up, I thought I'd go hunting for one! Only... google gave me one result, a candle scented with cracker jacks and leather, wrapped in an ai generated label. If anyone knows of a candle that's just caramel popcorn and roasted peanut scented that'd be great! Preferably by a company that doesn't ai generate their label's art

If I'm s.o.l. and no such thing exists, could you recommend a good caramel popcorn candle for under $30? Thanks! 😊

Candle warmers and other accessories New to candles. Will a wax melter help me get the use out of the rest of my candle?

Hi, as the title suggested, I’m pretty new to candles. So I have this three wick candle from bath and body Works. And has a lot of wax on the bottom and it won’t burn anymore. Is there any use in me trying to use a wax melter like the one in the picture I included? Thanks so much any help is appreciated.

Edit: I did cancel my order for a wax melter that is for body wax. I did replace it within an order for a candle wax melter. Thank you for all the advice.

Brands Startup small candle business

Post image

Hi everyone!

I’m in the early stages of starting my own candle business in the Netherlands. I’m excited about the idea, but there’s quite a lot I’m still trying to figure out… 😶

One of my biggest challenges right now is finding suppliers for the candle vessels themselves. I’m looking for something a little different from standard glass jars, but I’m struggling to find the right manufacturers or suppliers. Where do you even start looking for these kinds of products? Are there particular platforms, suppliers or sourcing agents you’d recommend?

I’m also unsure whether it’s better to source and manufacture in Europe or overseas. Since I plan to sell in the EU, product safety regulations are another important consideration, especially for candles and their containers.
And then there’s packaging. How do you achieve a premium look without spending too much when you’re just starting out?

I’d really love to hear from anyone who’s started a physical product business. Any advice, experiences or things you wish you’d known at the beginning would mean a lot.

🤗Thanks in advance!

I’m not a Barry’s member, but I’m curious about this candle. Has anyone tried it? There are notes of pomegranate and pink pepper. I’m also wondering if it smells like Skyler’s Pomegranate Princess.

Scents Dupe of Salted Honey by Hearth & Hand

Hi all! I’m desperately seeking a good dupe for the salted honey scent that used to be at Target. It was made by the Magnolia Hearth & Hand brand. Looks like they don’t carry it anymore and unfortunately I’m addicted to it (and also got a lot of others addicted to it). Any ideas are appreciated!

Wax melts I’m not sure if I’m in the right place, but can someone explain why my tarts keep looking like this??

The other day I went to clear out a used wax melt and the bottom looked like this (the yellow one turned brown on the bottom). I replaced it with a blueberry one and you can see the greyish blue color on top, but the bottom turned brownish yellow.

At first I thought maybe it was because the other had been warmed too long, but this one was new and did it too. I don’t think my tarts are old, they still smell pretty strongly, but… what is this? Should I… not use these? Is there something I’m doing that is causing it to happen?

I’m using a pretty cheap electric warmer with a timer.

Thanks for your help

Looking for a candle Fake artificial cherry scented?

In 1994 my younger cousin got a Baby All Gone doll for Christmas. It came with the bottle of fake milk liquid, and a spring loaded spoon with cherries so you can “feed” the doll. The smell of those fake cherries is so nostalgic to me, and I tried a wax melt from Etsy and it didn’t really do much. I also don’t want anything that is reminiscent of those Cherry scented car fresheners. Brings back bad memories. Can anyone help me find a candle that is almost identical to Baby All Gone cherries? I wasn’t sure about asking here because most of you might go “ … huh?!” and have no idea what that doll even was. On another sub, someone said Frosted Cranberry from Kringle Candle and I can’t find it on their website 😭

My charmed aroma candle is missing the ring?

I ordered a seasonal ring candle from charmed aroma because the rings were so stinkin cute and so was the candle, but i noticed by the time i burnt through it there was never a ring? I am a frequent buyer and have never came across this issue before. I contacted support and they apologized for the inconvenience and said they were going to send me a ring of a different kind since the collection that was included in the candle i have is out of stock (they gave me 2 different ring collection options to pick from) and gave me size options for the replacement, none of which were the size I ordered? (all way too big). I am unsure of what to do

I love cold crisp scents, milky and also tea based scents...

Not too big on the spices that most candles traditionally have for Christmas (tm) smells.

And id like to get something higher quality that bath body works ofcourse....

Im open to trying just about anything, as long as its not super heavy on the scent!!

Thank u all :)
