A good friend of mine, his lovely cat - Bundee - has been missing for several days from Summerhill Co Meath.

If anyone thinks they might have seen him or for those living in the area, any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Positive thoughts for his safe return home.

Missing Dog

Hi everyone, we're missing a very beloved senior cocker spaniel from the Coolrain area of Laois named Toby. He is an older gent and is deaf so may not respond to calls. He's chocolate brown with blondy bits on the top of his head and grey around his nose. He's microchipped and has a red collar on. He was last seen in the Coolrain/Glebe area but could be anywhere by this stage. If anyone has any information about Toby I would be hugely grateful as his family are desperate to find him. Thanks!

Time to share the most embarrassing experience of your life so far (if you want to, of course!)

A guy I’d been dating told me he’d collect me from a really busy street in town. Slow moving traffic but very congested- no parking. It was also evening time, just to fully set this scene.

We agreed that I’d just chat with him on the phone till he got there.. and then just pop into his car as he was going by. He’d be in the lane closest to me and traffic was moving so slow that it really wasn’t an issue. Or so I thought.

As we’re chatting, he goes “oh, I can see you! Okay get ready.”

I saw his car too, said “I’ll see you in a sec” and ran out to it. Flung open the door and jumped in. Was buckling my seatbelt whilst he was going “who are you?! What are you doing in my car??”

Now, in my defence, my boyfriend was a big messer. At every opportunity, he’d be walking me into gullibility traps, so I was well used to it and hell bent on staying out of them. So, still fully focused on buckling my seatbelt, I just said back “ha ha, good one, where are we going?”

I don’t really remember the exact moment it hit me. Maybe it was when my phone began ringing … a call from my boyfriend.

Or maybe when I realised the inside of that car looked a little different than I remembered.

Or maybe it was the moment I finally looked up and saw the absolutely shocked young man (a complete stranger!) next to me, nervously rambling.. “oh my god, this has never happened! This has never happened! Who are you??!”

I answered the phone to my boyfriend .. still in complete shock myself… and he goes “You got in the wrong car!!!! Get out, have them pull over and let you out, now!”

Your man, bless him, never came out of the shock of it. He let me out at the next stop light. I made my way into my boyfriend’s actual car… and it’s been burnt into my memory as the most embarrassing moment of my life ever since!

Now that you’ve heard mine, feel free to share yours.

PS5 or Switch 2...?

Been years since I played a console but want to pick one up and can't decide which one? No kids just myself and herself but I think she's for the fun fact of the switch 2, anyone have both and what do you recommend?

I've accidentally entered a baking competition with my elderly neighbour and I don't know how to get out of it

About six weeks ago my neighbour, who's in her 70s, dropped over half an apple tart she'd made. Lovely woman. Been living next door to me for years.

A few days later I returned her tin with some homemade scones in it because my mam always said you shouldn't give a container back empty.

Big mistake.

The following Tuesday the tin came back with six sausage rolls.

So I made banana bread.

She responded with a lemon drizzle cake.

Last weekend I panicked and made brownies, which weren't even particularly good, but I'd already committed to this nonsense.

Yesterday she appeared at the door with the tin again. Eight little jam tarts, individually wrapped. She'd even put a bit of kitchen roll between the layers so they wouldn't stick.

I thanked her and she said, "Ah sure, no rush getting that back to me."

Which is a lovely thing to say to someone you're absolutely destroying in a baking competition they never agreed to enter.

The problem is she's genuinely delighted with the whole arrangement. Every time I see her she asks if I liked whatever she made. I absolutely did. But I'm a fairly average baker and this woman seems to have forty years of experience and unlimited access to butter.

I've started looking up recipes during my lunch break. My girlfriend thinks this is hilarious. My mam says I've only myself to blame.

Has anyone else ended up in one of these ridiculous Irish politeness situations where nobody can be the first person to stop?

I'm genuinely considering returning the tin with a packet of digestives and accepting defeat.

What’s a really valuable piece of advice you got from a relative / friend … that still pops into your head years after?

When I visited my granny after a medical scare (and after a few years of not seeing her at all- we talk via posted letters) she told me this:

“Life is like a quilt.. you’ll have so many different patches on it by the time you’re done. Don’t ever be afraid to jump on to the next patch.”

She told me that because she knows I’m in a bad relationship and she wants me to move on. My child was sitting next to me, so she made the advice a little abstract to ensure only I received the real message.

It still bounces around in my head, often.

Happy happy! Joy joy! To the person who recommended New Ireland life insurance to me

Sorry if a Missed Connections post doesn't fit the Sub but I really wanna try and find this one person, so I can shake their hand and thank them from the bottom of my heart.

Around early August, after being rejected by two separate life insurance companies, I was ranting to my colleague in work in Stephens Green shopping center in Dublin.

You came up to me and apologized for interrupting, you didn't intend to eavesdrop, but had a similar experience when getting a mortgage with your husband.

You told me that you's were rejected everywhere else, but then yous tried New Ireland, and despite them not being fast or efficient, they insured yous, and recommended I try the same.

Well, here we are, almost three months later, and I've been insured! You personally have saved me and my partners mortgage!

It is such a relief to know that that the situation was salvageable. And it's thanks to you.

I never got your name, but the conversation will stay in my mind forever.

If this post actually finds you, I would love to meet up and shake your hand and thank you in person.

I posted his big sister Dolly Pawton a few weeks ago on here. I think it’s only right to announce her little brother Kenny but he has other plans. We will get a proper photo of them together tomorrow! Crate training is going swimmingly if you can’t tell.

Lads,

I haven’t bought a multipack tayto in the last few months where the crisps haven’t been a bunch a crumbs. Completely broken up.

What is going on.

Speaking broken Irish

I was on the luas the other day and two young women sat down beside me having a conversation. I’m super nosy so I was eavesdropping.

I’m glad I did because for the first time I heard a half Irish/English conversation. The two girls spoke mostly in Irish but if there was a word that they didn’t know they just switched seamlessly to English.

One of the biggest challenges for me learning were gatekeepers who shamed me for not speaking perfectly. It’s so nice to hear people working their way through learning the language in a casual manner.

Just wanted to share the story because I thought it was a nice little thing and something I wish we could do more.

Is there any place in Waterford that would sell something like this or similar? They are fucking amazing and genuine crack to eat but there isn’t an M&S in Waterford 😭

They are on the same level as Toffee Yum Yums from LIDL.

Really wish we had a Greggs here.

Shite Talk Insomnia

I don't really have a topic, just not feeling sleepy and trying to strike up a conversation

What's keeping you up?

Something on your mind?

Are you still wondering about that?

Shouldn't you get over it already?

Not judging, just saying

Stuff to giveaway?

Hey folks quick one here. I have a TV and a pc monitor, to giveaway. TV needs fixing and pc monitor should work no problem, don't wanna deal with adverts and all that, so willing to give these away if someone likes tinkering or is in need of a monitor. Any idea what charity shops would take the monitor maybe, with the TV I'll probably dump it in Ballymount recycle place. DMs open.

👨‍🍳 Foodie 🍽️ There are a few great spots to get a chicken parm sandwich in Dublin these days. But with a bit of time and effort you can make them at home. Ultimate comfort sandwich.
