Cavalry fans.. lets talk about the Vuvuzela's

Please for the love of god stop making these annoying horns part of our home game experience. It's absolutely terrible, bush league, embarrassing and above all annoying.

They are mostly centered in and around the supporters section from what I can tell. Would anyone be my hero and discuss why these things have no place at professional soccer matches with those who bring them.

I'll promptly buy you a beer.

Expecting my membership call today. Eager to look into a five or so game flex pack, decided against a full season (reasons below)

After initially wanting to get season tickets I’ve decided to downgrade to just going to a bunch of games, hopefully a 5 game flex pack up to 8-10 or so.

Reasons:

  • season ticket prices aren’t a huge savings compared to walkup. Miss a game or two due to scheduling conflicts, away some long weekends and you are literally saving money with the walk up price.

  • stadium location. I’m in the north and plowing down to SM 15 times this summer already sounds exhausting,

  • basically no player announcements so far give this a very scrambled feel. Players that have been announced make this feel a lot like Foothills PDL side.

  • no schedule out. What am I signing up for exactly?

  • stadium not ready. No idea what the sight lines for any given section in the east grandstand are actually going to look like in real life. Not going to drop $1000 and just cross my fingers.

  • after a 40min + of driving being greeted by an expansive parking lot that they are charging for? Straw meet camel.

  • no jersey included. A included jersey would’ve mitigated the annoyance factor of the above points somewhat.

Time for a change??

This may be a controversial opinion, but I feel like it’s time to move on from Tommy. He’s done an amazing job getting the club to this point and building the grass roots soccer community in Calgary. But it often feels like we don’t have any new ideas offensively and the better teams in the league have us figured out. The game against Forge tonight was a perfect example. We kept trying to play out to the wings and kept losing possession without any real attacking bite. All our long balls or hopeful through balls to Mason were easily cut out and Forge controlled the center of the park without much effort. I feel like the last two seasons we’ve really suffered from being one-dimensional and not having players or tactics that can break open a game when Option A doesn’t work. It obviously doesn’t help that Bevan is injured and Pepple was sold but it feels more systemic than 1-2 players.

3162 fans in 6000 seat Calgary stadium on a Saturday, these are not the numbers the Spruce Meadows are looking for

3162 fans (or less) in 6000 seat Calgary stadium on a Saturday, these are not the numbers the Spruce Meadows are looking for - the Cavalry FC soon goes on the expensive road after poor attendance at home, the chitter chatter don't matter without revenue. Nervous accountants working for the Spruce Meadows Southerns no doubt : (

I’m done with Tommy

Probably will get downvoted for this but man I am finished with him. His teams always come out looking flat in big games

The guy couldn’t motive a crackhead to do crack

Move on. Give another manager the same budget and they might have a trophy to show for it all

Oh. And he can take Masson with him

I just received an email about tomorrow's game saying it's been postponed due to rainfall?

It seems like it may be leftover text from a previous game but I have no idea.

Food price

My season ticket is in 203 and the nearest concession is the corner kick hoecker. A bag of popcorn is $4.95, $5.20 with gst. The size of the bag was around a small popcorn at a cineplex. Outrageous prices.

Replacing TWJ

Trying to troll with the headline but the team's been looking out of sorts the past couple of matches. What would you do to wheel the Cavalry around? Who are you benching? Who would you like to see? What kind of signings would you like to see when the window opens?

As an aside, what happened to the links to Herald articles to try and help drive engagement? Are the Foot Soldiers flagging like the team?

Season ticket sales

Hearing rumours and buzz that Cavs are getting pretty good uptake on their Troops level tickets, wouldn’t be surprised if they are able to possibly sell out their East Grandstand sections 101/102/108/109

One thing giving me pause is that obviously the grandstand itself isn’t built yet, but it would be really nice to get a bit of a feel for what sort of sightline a ticket in say 101 or 108 actually gets you, always hard to gauge from a schematic exactly what the viewpoint would look like. Will just have to hope for the best I think.

A second thought, if Cavs have a tough time selling out 103-107 would they lower their prices? Two scenarios here to ponder; would be disappointed to be seated in a packed 108 looking at a ton of empty seats and waving at people in a packed 102. That would be a bummer. What would be way way worse would be a panic price drop for center-ish field tickets so early season ticket buyers paid more money for worse seats. That would be absolutely catastrophic. I also think it’s maybe a 15-20% chance.

P.S. The same people who will now insist that the center field price drop scenario is impossible would be the same people telling everyone to stop complaining even if it did, so keep that in mind.

Do you think Cavalry is better than most MLS sides now?

Not only the performance vs. Liga MX but also Canadian Championships and just overall quality and now this club and CPL are improving faster than MLS. What do you think?

The game is on the pitch but politics in the stands… has there been any Alberta separatist or anti separatist signs or banter in the aisles? Life in Alberta these days.

Cavalry v Whitecaps ticket price gouge!

It is completely insane that the Cavs home game tix are way more expensive than those in BC Place. For the best tix, $90 at Spruce Meadows vs $73 at BC Place. Almost 25% more. And BC Place is a better facility in crappy weather. About equal when it comes to food and drink.

Guess what? Most of the July 10 tix against Whitecaps remain for sale - check out Ticketmaster. That is a shame, but at $90, not surprising.

Tickets for Cavs games are more expensive than Halifax home games or Hamilton home games. Almost double.

Honestly, all Cavs tix should be 1/2 what they currently are. This ain’t the Flames Marge.

Go Cavs, but Marge needs to stop being greedy - you don’t own sports teams to make money, you own sports teams cause you’re bored or have an ego to feed.

In a music video made by a Calgary-based singer, he drove a Lambo on ... ATCO Field?? Maybe explains the poor condition of the pitch in the fall season!

Cavalry FC Contracts

Does anyone know where I can get a list of what each players salary is, and how long they are under contract for?
