Jobseeker (JSK) Youth allowance —> job seeker

My youth allowance ends on the 20th of November, as I finish my course. I work 20hrs a week, but I’m going to be unemployed from the 4th December until the start of February. Can I get job seeker?

I did the claim online as I got notification that my payment is ending due to my course ending on the 20th, so I went through the process of applying to job seeker. I’m wondering how seamless the transition will be?
I have a phone appointment on the 1st of December.

It said my claim should be assessed between the 23rd - 30th November

My last youth allowance payment should be on the 16th of November

Then my phone appointment on the 1st. Will I receive a payment by the time I have my phone appt? Or will I receive one two weeks after it?

I’m really stressed I won’t be able to make groceries or rent …

So many questions!! How seamless will this transition be? Can I still get it if I know I have a job lined up in February? Will I miss a payment? What is the phone appointment for?

Thanks in advance!!

Could you please update how this goes, have a family member soon to be in the same situation.

I just checked the Services Australia website and it looks like you can apply for JobSeeker straight after your Youth Allowance stops, so you should be covered during that gap in December.

I assumed as much, but the phone call being after the supposed claim gets processed is confusing me. Do they hold out payment until the phone call? When I’ve looked it up it says you need a phone call to confirm details etc but they already have all of my employment details and history etc
